You can rent Mr Popper’s Penguins today for $.99. You don’t actually need to watch the movie today- you have 30 days to actually decide that you want to see it.

Once you decide and you click play, you get 48 hours in total and then the movie disappears.

So this is a nice option because you have no late fees to deal with.

And if you like this movie, you can get a $5 off Mr Popper’s Penguins DVD or Blu Ray coupon.

Well here is yet another update to the Step 2 table and chairs set. It looks like JC Penney is cancelling most orders after all. While that is a real bummer, the great news is that they have emailed those that placed orders a $50 gift certificate for your next $50 purchase!

Considering most of us spent $20 to get the table in the first place, I think this is more than generous myself.

Be sure to check your email carefully because inside you will find a unique coupon code you can use to get $50 off a $50 purchase.

Now I found this other Little Tikes table for outdoors priced at $60. Here is how my transaction worked out:

Little Tikes outdoor table set $60
Shipping $5.99 (this changes from $12.99 once you enter your code in)
Grand total after coupon code: $16.71!

Now this is not the same set but after my $50 gift certificate, I will actually spend just a few dollars less than I spent before ($16 vs $20) for a nice table and chairs set!

As of posting, Shop at Home has 9% back or Ebates has 3% back.

Step 2 $15 Patio Set Update

01/04/2012

If you ordered this little Step 2 patio set a few days ago at just $15, it looks like we have an update on order status. JC Penney posted this on the Facebook wall today:

We apologize for the recent incorrect pricing issue for our step2 patio and shade play set. Due to the pricing error we had an over abundance of orders placed. We will be honoring the price of $15 with a limit of one per customer until our stock has been depleted. We will be contacting all customers to inform them of their order status.

So that is wonderful news because there was a lot of concern about this deal. I do want to note two points- one is that some of your ordered multiple sets and it appears they are only allowing one per customer. I know that may be disappointing but to even honor the price is really wonderful in my opinion since this set is normally $90!

The second note is that they mentioned they would fill orders with the inventory they have. So I wouldn’t get too excited about this set until you actually see the shipment confirmation. This deal concerned me because it lasted a LONG time so they may have taken more orders than they can actually fill.

I have to say I am very pleasantly surprised at how well JCP has handled this issue.  I full expected them to cancel everyone’s orders so this is excellent customer service.

Thanks Christy!

Happy New Year!

01/01/2012

Well I am finally sitting down to wish everyone a very Happy New Year! We celebrated my Dad’s 60th birthday last night (which kept us out far too late) and I jumped out of bed this morning to race to a marathon 90 minute Zumba class.

New Year’s is one of my favorite holidays because I just love the idea of a fresh start. I am a little bit of a resolution person because I love of idea of trying to sit down and decide what you can do to become a better version of yourself.

So anyway, I always have a very long list of things I want to do and priorities I want to focus on for the New Year.  I wanted to share what some of my ideas are for the blog as well.

We will start the year getting back on track with coupons.  Now that we won’t have all the holiday shopping madness this should be a time we can also refocus again on stretching those budgets.

If you are new to My Frugal Adventures, there is a wealth of information available for you to read and learn all about how to get started using coupons.

I try to make the focus of this site as diverse as possible for all sorts of lifestyles but the one thing you will find here is a real emphasis on maximizing your time as well as your budget.  I hope to offer you solutions to stretch your dollars as well as keep your sanity.  I always seem to have a full schedule and I know a lot of you have tons of obligations to juggle and I hope to be a valuable resource to maximize the time you do have.

So once again, thank you for sharing your lives with me and continuing to support My Frugal Adventures.  I hope you all have a wonderful New Year!

Here are three big after Christmas sales for you:

Old Navy is offering up to 75% off in stores only 12/26. This is supposed to be the entire store but it is select items only and of course UP TO 75% off.

You can still get a $15 off $75 Old Navy coupon valid through 12/29.

If you prefer to shop online, they are offering up to 50% off and free shipping on a $50 order.

You can use Ebates for 5% off or Shop at Home has 10% back.

One last deal, you can purchase a $25 gift card today and shipping is free.  If you start with your Shop at Home account they are offering $3 back in a rebate.

Target stores are opening at 7am on December 26th. It seems like this year they really want to get rid of the holiday items so hopefully you find great clearance prices. My store was very picked over this year a week before Christmas as far as holiday decorations. Make sure to check for the holiday package items that will be on sale- items like hand soaps, Ziploc bags/containers, home fragrances and more. I also like to check for holiday package coffees because those can be a great deal.

You might get lucky and find holiday food items on clearance as well- the stores will want to make room for New Years resolution products (diet foods) so all those baking products, candy, ham, turkey, gravy etc.. etc… You can always pick the items up at clearance prices and tuck them into the pantry or freezer.

Spring clothing is on the way out so there should be sales on pj’s and possibly winter clothes.

One last thing is to start keeping an eye for toy clearance.  I know many of us are up to our eyeballs in toys right now, but it never hurts to start thinking ahead to any birthdays you might have coming up.  I usually get a few things once the clearance prices hit 75% off to put away for next year or to put aside for birthday parties.  I especially like to look for Leapfrog books and games that might be on clearance.

Walmart has lots of clearance sales starting around 5am at most stores. They should have 50% off many holiday items and pretty good discounts on clothing specifically.

They will likely have many of the same deals as Target.
