Hey y’all! I hope you had a wonderful Valentine’s Day with your loved ones. So funny how Valentine’s Day has changed around here for us. I helped out in both classes for my children’s Valentine parties and then we had a little softball practice followed by soccer followed by a cozy dinner on the couch catching up on Fixer Upper and the Olympics.
Ten years ago that would not have been an ideal evening by any stretch- especially not for Valentine’s Day but around here it was just perfect. We have about two more weeks until the craziness of Spring soccer and softball hits and multiple practices each night and packed weekends, so the quiet time is something I really treasure. Plus I have been baking up some Easter recipes for the blog and we had cupcakes to eat. #priorities
What about you? Did you have a big night out on the town or heck no- let’s just stay home?
For both classes I organized a little heart attack for some of our teachers and the principal. This was such a cute little surprise for some of the people that don’t always get recognized. If you are a class mom, you might file this idea away for Valentine’s Day next year or Teacher Appreciation week. I made signs for our music teacher, Spanish teacher, librarian and principal and cut out a zillion different hearts that said things like.. “I love music because…” “My favorite book ever is…” “Our school is awesome because…” and the children filled in their answers. I took them in groups to act like Ninjas and quietly tape the sign and hearts to the doors for the teachers to find later in the day. We spotted one teacher discovering her door right after school and that teacher was all smiles and tears so I’d say it was a successful mission.
(PS: We came home from school to see the news reports of the tragedy in Florida… such a scary and sad time and our prayers go out to Florida.)
I know most of the country is still buried in snow but Spring seems to have come early in California! So excited about that. We have had lots of sun and the flowers are blooming and it makes me so itchy for all the projects all the time.
Here are a few things I have been loving lately in case you also need a dose of inspiration for the last little bit of winter. As always none of these items are sponsored. Just stuff I have stumbled across in my daily adventures.
One.
Sometimes I love every single thing at Pottery Barn and sometimes I am like. meh. This season I love every single thing. I especially love these pretty blue and white pots and I think they would look amazing with herbs in them in a kitchen.
Two.
This sweatshirt is kind of Valentine’s Day-y but I think bright pink is so perfect for warmer weather. I have almost no red in my closet and every time I see someone wear red I think to myself, I really need something red right away. Anyway, I love this little sweatshirt from H&M.
Three.
How darling are these little sandals for girls? I would like to state right now if you have toddlers you need to enjoy every single second because all the cute clothing is in the toddler section. Once your kid hits Kindergarten it goes downhill. The selection of big kid clothing at every store I used to love makes me cringe. (Looking at you Target!! Really, really looking at you Old Navy! Big girls like cute patterns and bright colors too!) I was delighted to find these cute little gold sandals for big girls and they are super cheap today (just $14!) Grab them for Easter.
Four.
Did you catch the Fixer Upper with Jo’s new garden “shed”? Mic. Drop. Don’t tell anyone I said this but I have been getting a little tired of the old Jojo style with the black and white tile and the lots of accessories and chunky throws and shiplap. (Yes we just shiplapped my daughter’s room. Stop judging me.) But this new season every single thing she does is magic and in my next life I want to come back as one of her darling little girls. (Spoiler alert: Her garden shed is basically 10x nicer than our actual home.)
Five.
Just ordered this little chair for my daughter’s bedroom. I have had my eye on the amazing Serena & Lily version for about a year now but this guy is on sale for half the cost with coupon code 15OFF. Going to pick it up today at my local store- whoo hoo!
Six.
My kids are too big for board books but I don’t care! I still pick up cute ones from time to time to read with my little girl and we save our very, very favorites in a little crate that will one day go to the grandkids. I have been seeing these books pop up a lot lately and I am such a sucker for gorgeous illustrations I had to pick these up. Pretty sure I will be tucking these into Easter baskets this year. With the terrible tragedies on the news that just break your heart, I think it is important to remind my little people every single moment that they are precious and loved.
Seven.
Classic navy and white makes my heart happy and since the sun is shinin’, I treated myself to these pretty little macrame outdoor pillows. Happy Valentine’s Day Charlene! Hey thanks Charlene! We have white rocking chairs on the porch so hoping these look nice and clean and sharp for Spring with all the flowers I plan on planting. Dear Santa… I mean UPS man. Please come soon. (Use coupon code FEBWME)
Alright. Now I really should stop rambling on. I always love these little catch up sessions every month.
