I tried to do this exact post last year in early November for those of you that like picking up Advent calendars for the littles.
I actually couldn’t really do much of a list because I waited until we were closer to the holiday season and by that time, many of the calendars were low on inventory, unavailable or the prices were ridiculously high.
This year I didn’t want to make the same mistake again and I thought I’d put together a list of Advent calendars early in the season. As of posting the prices are reasonable on the calendars – typically $17-29- and they are available to ship now.
You can always choose to wait until November to pick up your calendar but just note many options might sell out. The Barbie calendar specifically is $17 right now and I did see it as high as $45 last year around. Crazy!
So if you do want to pick your calendar up and tuck it away for a few weeks- here are some of the best calendars I found this year:
Lego City Advent Calendar- always a best seller and this one does tend to go in and out of stock and the price will really jump around. Best to grab this guy early.
Disney Tsum Tsum Calendar. I was recently introduced to these things by a certain 6 year old birthday girl. They are pretty darn cute. (Also find another version here.)
Fisher Price Little People Calendar– ok this is just darling.
Reindeer Painted Advent- more of an investment but you can use this year after year after year. I could see passing this down to the kids for their own children one day.
Barbie Advent- you know how most families love to watch classics like It’s a Wonderful Life? We happen to love Barbie Perfect Christmas 😀 My husband tortures us treats us to his rendition of the theme song throughout the holiday season. This would be perfect for a Barbie fan.
Crayola Advent– for the little artist each day reveals a marker, paint, glue or crayon.
Playmobil Advent- this might be my favorite with the animals and the Angel and the little farmer. Adorable.
Schleich Advent. On the same theme of animals these calendars are beautiful.
Star Wars cloth advent. Star Wars fans might want to grab this guy and reuse it year after year.
Star Wars advent. Lego calendars in general are best to pick up early in the season. This is always a popular one.
Lego Friends advent. Note is this another one that tends to jump around significantly in availability and price.
Meri Meri Bracelet Advent. This one is another favorite- so sweet and pretty for little dancers or fairies. The top has a bracelet and then each day opens a new charm to add.
Melissa and Doug Advent. Magnetic tree with 24 ornaments.
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles- this would be a hit with little TMNT fans.
Hot wheels advent. How cute is this for hot wheels fans!
Shepard on the Search. For those that want something faith based this is a new product this year. Similar to Elf on the Shelf, the Shepard is hidden each night and each day children look for the Shepard as he tries to find his way to the manger.

We’re big fans of Barbie Perfect Christmas, too. My daughter is 14 this year, so we may be outgrowing it, but we’ve watched it every Christmas for a few years. I got my Lego advent calendars early this year. A few years ago I had to scramble to find one anywhere.

Right Carrie. I get nervous to post holiday stuff too early because people get crabby about it but these calendars were really difficult to find in Nov of last year :). I learned my lesson.

The Tsum Tsum is adorable! Tough call 😉

Goofed up last year and one grand did not get his star wars calendar because it was going for $80. Lesson learned. This year, calendars were bought as soon as they showed up on Amazon. It is the mom’s duty to secure them till the appropriate time!

Yeah that is crazy. 🙁 Hope your little one enjoys the calendar this year!
