Here are some free or cheap children’s activities available this week to keep the kiddos busy. I thought posting these now will help you plan your week.
These are all the things that are free to do this week with just a few that are very inexpensive.
Pottery Barn Kids: Every Tuesday from 11AM-11:30AM, kids of all ages are invited to story time. Times can vary slightly from store to store so you might want to call ahead to verify.
The theme this week will be “The Day the Crayons Quit” on September 9th. Children will receive a book club passport at their first story time and a special gift after attending five story times.
Lakeshore Learning: Kids will create a Build Your Name Apple on September 13th. Stop by from 11am-3pm.
Michaels: Kid’s Club Event: Make Team Spirit Pom Poms on September 13th from 10am to noon.
Barnes and Noble: There is a free storytime Tuesday and Thursday as well as Saturday of each week with books, a cookie and usually coloring pages and activities.
There will be a special Don’t Let the Crayons Quit Storytime this week. A reading of select letters from The Day the Crayons Quit by Drew Daywalt and illustrated by Oliver Jeffers will also be included in this storytime. Customers will also be invited to create a letter, make a list, draw or color a picture and place it in the Support the Crayons! Message Box. Check your location for times.
You might also check your store for other special things going on this week. I noticed some stores are having a special Elf on the Shelf Birthday Party for children.
Bass Pro Shop: Your kids can participate in the Free Kid’s Adventures Activities- treasure hunts, crafts and more. These are weekly activities and vary greatly by location. You can head over here to find your local store to confirm activities and times. And just a heads up from personal experience, it is best to get in line early. These events tend to be very popular.
Kids Bowl Free: Just register and get 2 free games everyday. This varies by location as to when the program ends.
REI: They offer the Family Adventure Program with various classes for children and adults. I saw hiking and camping classes plus fun Geocaching adventures. I also saw outdoor photography lessons.
The selection and dates/times vary by location but you can check to see what your store is offering here.
Williams-Sonoma: Junior Chef Class on September 13th at 9:30 am. Kids will learn how to decorate cookies. This is a special event to help end childhood hunger with proceeds to benefit Share our Strength. A $5 donation is suggested. All ages are welcome.
Lowe’s: Free Kid’s workshop on September 13th. Kids will build a pair of binoculars at 10am. These do fill up quickly so make sure to register.
If you live near an American Girl Store, you might check out their events. Times and dates vary.
