Update:  There is a new coupon code to save 10%– use code USA10 and get the price down to $49.50.

There is a great deal for a Costco membership on Living Social today if you have been considering joining. You can get a gold star membership for $55 and then get a $20 Costco Cash Card back.

In addition to the gift card, you get $30 worth of bonus coupons:

  • good for a free Kirkland Signature™ 48-pack of AA batteries
  • a free rotisserie chicken
  • a free Kirkland Signature™ case of water
  • $4 off Kirkland Signature™ coffee
  • and $4 off Kirkland Signature albacore tuna.

This is a great deal but please note this is for new customers only. It is not valid for a renewal of an existing membership.  Typically the Gold Star membership is $55 without any of these extra perks.

Head over here to get this deal.

Your Costco Membership Activation Certificate will be emailed to you immediately after completing your purchase and redeeming your Voucher online.  To activate your Costco membership you must bring the printed Costco Membership Activation Certificate email or your printed confirmation page to your local Costco location.

**If you think you might spend more then $2500 a year at Costco you might ask your local member services counter about upgrading to the Executive membership.  That is $110 per year but you get a rebate back so it can be worth it if you shop a lot.

Does anyone know what they mean by “new” members? I am wondering if that excludes me if I have had a costco membership in the past. Anyone tried it?

I used credit card, entered all info except a promo code, went to search for a promo code and returned here…
Was I successful in obtaining this deal or not?

Kathleen- I don’t know :). Did you do the final confirmation to purchase?
