Bargain eBooks and Audio Books

hunger-games

I have two great deals on books to tell you about today.  These would be great to pick up for a rainy day or in anticipation of holiday travel.

The first is an Audio Book.  I love audio books- I listen to them pretty much all the time.  When I cook, clean, in the car, on walks…. I rarely watch TV because I prefer to get immersed in a book and since I can play it right on my phone (with ear buds or without)- I am free to do the 8 million other things I need to get done.

So Audible is the service I use– you just pay for a subscription and then you can choose the books you want and play them right from the free app. It works out to be about $10 per book for me- but I figure a paperback at Walmart would be about the same price so worth it in my opinion.  AND if you aren’t happy with a book you picked, you can return it for free and choose another book instead!

Anyway, if you want to try Audible, you can register and get your first book totally free.  PLUS today only (10/8) they have the Hunger Games on sale for $3.95!

This was an awesome series so if you have been on the fence I encourage you to check it out.  I didn’t think I would like this series and then I literally read all 3 books in a week because I could not put them down.

So if you are new to Audible you will get (2) books for $3.95 today!

very valentine

And for those of you that have an iPad or eReader, Adriana Trigiani’s book Very Valentine is just $1.99!

This is a Kindle book you can read on a computer, smart phone, Kindle, or iPad.

I read everything from Adriana Trigiani, she is one of my favorite authors.  Her books are usually about Italian families and they are just easy to read and engrossing stories.

You can try a sample and see what you think but really $1.99 is a great deal for this author. And if you like this book you might check out her other stories- Lucia, Lucia, The Queen of the Big Time, Rococo, The Shoemaker’s Wife… I loved all of those.  And she has a new one coming out that you can preorder called the Supreme Macaroni Company.

$10 per book is hugely expensive, our public library has some books to download.

    Joanna,

I spent hours upon hours trying to get my library version to work. Do you successfully use the app from your library and get the books that you want to read to work quickly and easily? What system does your library use?

I tried my library’s app and it was a total nightmare for me and I could never get a book I actually wanted to read. Unfortunately I don’t have the time to spend hours trying to get books to download and searching and searching and searching for something available that looked worthwhile. I think there is a monetary value to your time.

So if $10 is too expensive for you just don’t get Audible :). I love to read and I find tremendous value in books so it is worth it to me.

The two books I mentioned in the post are $3.95 and $1.99 respectively. I don’t find that to be too much money to spend for best selling books. I feel a little sad when people say that books aren’t worth spending money on.

I love Audible and have been a member for years. I agree $10/book is reasonable since I use it so much. I did cut back my membership this year because I have been able to get my public library software to work on my smart phone. (I’m in CT, so I don’t think I can help you, Charlene. My library uses OneClick and I have an Android phone.) My library doesn’t have some of the titles I want, like the new Malcolm Gladwell and Bill Bryson books.

I’ve gotten through huge series via Audible…all 5 Game of Thrones books and am working on the Outlander series. Plus, Audible regularly runs specials – use 4 credits, get $10 credit. Great for grabbing the next few titles in a series with a bonus.

I agree that The Hunger Games is worth the time. I read all 3 books on my Kindle app when Amazon ran a special on it.

Thanks for the heads up on the Adriana Trigiani title too. I love her stories and her writing!
