Redbox is now offering instant video streaming. This is pretty cool because personally I hate having to fool with driving to the box and driving back to return movies. We usually wind up with a late fee because I can’t always get back the next day to return the movie.
Plus isn’t that a huge bummer when you hit a box and anything you would have wanted is all gone? Boo!
Right now Redbox is offering a free trial of the service. Here is the scoop:

My husband did this trail a while ago and we were pretty disappointed. The selection of movies isn’t that great, in my opinion, and there were a lot of interruptions in the streaming. No where near the quality of Netflix or Amazon. I definitely would not pay for the service. The four free rentals at the kiosk didn’t even work how they were supposed to…somehow we got shorted and only three (or maybe only two) of them worked. And my husband (a computer nerd) had lots of complaints about their website and the way you had to set things up/log in, etc. Hope someone else has more luck/a better experience than we did!

I did this free trial last month. I decided it wasn’t worth it to us because we have amazon prime and Netflix, and the selection on redbox didn’t really impress me. I was hoping it would have a good selection and possibly replace my Netflix subscription, I liked the idea of the free rentals. But in reality we maybe rent one or two movies at most in a month and without the selection the streaming wasn’t a good deal for us. But there was no problem with the cancellation (and we had used all or most of the free rentals). There is a link on “your account” on their site, it did take me a minute to find it, but no problem it’s cancelled and nothing further has been charged.
It is a free trial so nothing lost to check it out. Sorry you were all so unhappy. I am sure they are working to improve the service.
