Amazon posted on their homepage that customers with a Kindle Fire get a free $5 credit to use in the Appstore. The fine print does say that this is for new Kindle Fire owners but then again goes on to state it is for everyone. So what I would recommend is just checking your account to see if you have it.
I purchased a Kindle Fire over a year ago and the $5 credit was in my account so hopefully you will find the same.
Just click on any app to purchase and on the right side you will see if you have any credit.
