I went back through last year’s posts to see what Target had in store for Valentine’s Day clearance.
The nice thing about Valentine’s Day is that they tend to get down to business quickly and move stuff out. This is a really great time to think ahead to Easter baskets because you can find all sorts of cute little toys and trinkets to stuff Easter baskets.
Also, Valentine’s Day isn’t just about chocolate. They also have crackers, baking mixes, fruit snacks, little variety packs of popcorn and Goldfish, Starbucks coffee gift packs and more…
In this house, pink isn’t just a color it is a state of mind so all the glittery Valentine’s Day stuff my children love year round.
Both Target and Walmart went to 50% off last year on the 15th. I got quite a few things at Walmart like cupcake liners and cookie cutters.
On the 19th, Target went to 70% off and then a few days later they hit 90% off but as you might imagine most stuff was gone.
This year Target has made things really hard to predict because they had things on sale early for the better part of the year and then right before and after the holidays it seems like clearance is lasting forever….
So my guess is 50% off starting tomorrow and then actually I seem to find a lot of seasonal markdowns happening randomly on Sunday. I am going to keep an eye out myself on Sunday. If you still see things at 50% you might check back again on Monday or Tuesday.
Remember that you always want to scan items just to be certain of the price. Often times at Target things will be marked a certain price and then you scan and find they are actually lower and the signs haven’t been updated.
Other Note:
Last year on the 18th the Dollar Spot went to 70% clearance as well. You might keep an eye out for that!

I went to Target on Douglas around 10am today. Valentines candy is not marked down. It is still coming up full price. There are no clearance signs up either.

Fairway is at 50% off.
My Target only had Valentine’s candy marked down to 30% off. Decorations were 50% off. Walmart had everything 50% off. Watch for $1/2 peelies on M & M’s. You can get two bags of valentine’s M & M’s at Walmart for $1.88 using the $1/2 peelie.
