There are some great promotions available today from ING. This is actually a Black Friday sale so these are limited time offers and typically the best deal of the year.

It is easy to open an account and if you want to start savings for something special this might be a great idea. You could have a vacation fund or a Christmas fund or a saving for a new computer fund or whatever you need. You can transfer money back and forth between your other bank accounts very easily. My husband and I started accounts with ING probably 9 years ago to save for special things throughout the year that we wanted to pay cash for. This was actually how we totally furnished our entire first house. We set aside a certain amount per month and I had whatever was in the account to spend on various items I found on sale.
I don’t see a minimum amount required so I would think you can deposit $20 or so and use the orange card for a few Starbucks runs or whatever and be good to go.
A lot of you express concerns over entering credit card information for various free offers (such as the free Tiny Prints cards) that occasionally come up. This might be a good thing to have with a small balance so you can still take advantage of those offers without exposing your regular banking information.

I have the children’s savings accounts and I just deposit all the little checks they get from family members year round (Grandma’s $5 birthday check etc..) If you have a little one that is starting to do chores to earn an allowance, this would be a great way to start teaching them about money.
