If you shop at a Safeway family stores, you might check your SmartSource coupon inserts today for a try me free rebate form.
These are likely not available in every newspaper but it is certainly a great deal if you do find the rebate form in your paper. I am not aware of a printable version of this form so it does appear you need to get it from your newspaper.
You have from 9/9-9/22 to purchase up to 12 different products. You need to keep all the UPCs and the receipt and send it off along with the rebate form.
The products included in the rebate are:
- Yoplait Greek 100 calorie yogurt
- Yoplait Simplait
- Green Giant Seasoned Steamers
- Yoplait Greek Smoothie
- Betty Crocker Muffin Mix
- Betty Crocker Shake n Pour Dessert Mix
- Progresso Light Soup
- Progresso Recipe Starters Cooking Sauce
- Apple Cinnamon Chex
- Fiber One Nutty Clusters and Almond Cereal
- Mott’s Fruit Snacks
- Fiber One Chewy Bars
So you can actually purchase one of each of those items and your rebate will be up to $40 in total.
Safeway has offered this type of promotion in the past and if I remember correctly the rebates did come to people but they took awhile to process them. So if you decide to take advantage of this offer, you may have a few extra weeks to wait for your refund.
Several of these items are on sale this week at Safeway and there are prices and coupons listed right in the insert to make things easy. You can also find printable versions of many of these coupons here.

I live right beside safeway. We didnt get any of these in our papers.
Melissa says
Denise – where abouts are you? I have an extra two copies of the rebate (get three papers only using one)
Jill says
Melissa-
I ran out to get a couple of papers, but we didn’t get the TMF in the Washington-Post, either. Would you be willing to send me one from your stash?

Lydia M. says
FYI – If you plan on using coupons with this deal it will not be a money maker on the items. The rebate form states: “A check by mail for the refund of your purchase(s). The amounts listed on the original receipt, less any coupons used, will be the amounts that are reimbursed.”
Charlene says
Right. I don’t think I said it was a moneymaker in the post but using coupons is a nice option because you can pay less out of pocket. This is kind of a lot out of pocket for all those items.
dancinmama says
I’m a little leery of doing this. I know you mentioned that the rebates take a while, but I did the last one and still have not received my check for over $30. However, I do love free food. LOL
And what I’m reading in Lydia’s comment, you might as well save your coupons.
dancinmama says
Oh, and I forgot to mention – the last time they did this there were forms in the store. I don’t know if they’ll do that again, but that’s where I got mine.

Charlene:
do you know if a Catalina used in payment would be considered a “coupon”? I have one left from the Kraft deals last week and would be a sweet way to cash it out!
(unless I don’t get a full rebate as a result!)
Charlene says
Hmmm… I am not sure Franki. I don’t think I would chance it myself unless you really don’t have anything else at Safeway you want to buy.
hally says
was not in DFW paper.
ps, I can only submit comment ONCE per thread/topic? at least I couldn’t reply to your comment of my comment for the past many times. thanks!
Sara says
Charlene,
I think it says to write the upc codes on the original receipt but I don’t see where it says to send them in with the receipt and form. Not trying to say you are wrong just want to make sure I am doing it right. Thanks so much.
Charlene says
Sara,
Yes I didn’t mean mail the UPCs off I meant save the UPCs to write on your form. Some people toss boxes out when they unpack groceries (me) and then have to try and dig through the trash later when they realize they needed that info (me). So just follow the directions on the form and you should be fine!
Jill B. says
I’m just seeing this post now so it’s too late to go get a paper. Has anyone seen the forms in the stores as Dancinmama suggested?
Charlene says
Jill,
I have seen the rebates in store before and seen the rebates in the paper like this one. The rebates I have seen have been one or the other and not both- if that makes sense. So it is possible that the rebate could be in stores but it seems like they are pretty controlled about how they distribute the forms.
Endcapps says
Franki,
I went ahead & applied my $10 Kraft OYNO Cat & my $4 OYNO Honey Bunches Cat to my transaction for this Rebate since I’m apt to forget about redeeming them. The $10 & $4 dropped to the bottom. Just happy to have reduced my OOP & will be happy w/whatever I get back from the Rebate.
In the Bay Area, saw an endcap on frozen containing Tearpad of the Rebate (plus all frozen qualifiers rounded-up for ease) Plus an endcap on cereal containing Tearpad plus all shelf-stable qualifiers nicely rounded-up.
Charlene says
Yes the catalina won’t come off the totals for each item. It will come off the bottom of the transaction. It depends on how zealous the rebate processor will be in processing rebates. If you recall awhile back the people that used ECBs, RR and +Ups to pay for Organix shampoo that had a rebate attached, all had the rebates denied or reduced. That has happened a few times with a few brands. So most likely they will approve rebates according to what each line item states on the rebate form but you just never know. I don’t like to take chances with other people’s money. If there is absolutely nothing else at Safeway to buy other then the rebate items, most likely it will be fine to pay with catalinas. I personally probably wouldn’t chance losing $5 or $10 or $15 myself but then again I can always find things I need at Safeway so that would not be a problem for me.
