Just a reminder that there are new options in the Kindle family . Some of these devices just became available for order and others will need to be pre-ordered. You might want to go ahead and take a look at what you are interested in and get that order in.
Here are the new options:
Kindle Paperwhite $139 (or $119 with special offers)- This is an advanced e-reader that is supposed to be easier to read in all sorts of lighting-the beach or at night and has a patented built in light. The Paperwhite is expected to ship 10/22 and there is a limit of 5 per customer.
The special offers can be kind of cool. You get coupons and other offers but in exchange on the screen saver, they will run ads for companies like VISA. The ads are not disruptive to your reading.
Kindle Fire $159– This is 40% faster with twice the memory and a longer batter life than the older model. And even better, the price is actually $40 cheaper than the older model! This is available to order now.
Kindle Fire HD $199– This one comes with HD display and exclusive Dolby audio and a front facing camera. This is available to order now.
Kindle Fire HD with 8.9″ display $299– This one has pretty much everything that the standard Kindle Fire HD has but with a larger display. This will be released 11/20 and is available for pre-order.
Kindle Fire HD 8.9″ with 4G $499– The big feature on this is the 4G wireless that it comes equipped with. No more looking for wi-fi hot spots! This is expected to ship 11/30.
So, there are some nice new options for the Kindle Fire. Shipping is free on each of these.
Now Target is not offering Kindle devices anymore and Walmart has decided to follow suit so Amazon is probably going to be the best bet for ordering a Kindle.
If you want one of these for the holidays- especially the Kindle Fire HD- you might consider ordering now. You can always cancel before it ships if you spot a better deal.
