Starbucks: Load $20 Gift Card & Get $5 Free

Here is another promotion from Starbucks.

If you reload $20 onto your smart phone via the free Starbucks app, you will get an extra $5 free!  You will need to pay for the $20 gift card with a Visa and the extra $5 is loaded the week of August 27th.

If you haven’t tried the Starbucks app, it is so easy!  You just set the amount of money you want to load (at least $20) and when you are ready to buy your drinks, just pull up the app and the cashier can scan your phone.  The balance is immediately reduced and you have whatever is left for next time.

It couldn’t be simpler and you can just pop in and out of Starbucks with just your phone!  You can also register your card and then you collect stars each time you visit Starbucks.  Once you have enough, they will cash you out and send you a coupon for a free drink.

The offer details state “reload a gift card” so I am not sure if this is working on new cards or not.

    Is this for when you buy a new gift card or reload a card? I tried reloading mine and I didn’t get the $5.

    The $5 bonus is given the week of August 27th. So you won’t see it immediately in your account. :) Here is the fine print from the promotion and it says reload so that should be fine:

    To be eligible for the $5 offer, you must reload a registered Starbucks Card for a minimum of $20 using a valid Visa Card and your Starbucks mobile application by 11:59 p.m. PST on August 24, 2012. Only one $5 bonus load per Visa account is allowed. Bonus will be applied to the reloaded Starbucks Card during the week of August 27, 2012. Limited time offer.

    I haven’t received my $5 as of today, August 31. Bummer, I hope I get it! Never had any problems with similar promotions before.

    Count me in as another person who didn’t get the $5 either. Really disappointed about this. Does anyone have any contact info to send an email inquiry?

    I checked the app and when I open it it shows my balance, I clicked on manage, and then recent transactions. It says “loyalty customer return” on 8/23 and shows $5 credited.

    I contacted Starbucks about this, and apparently there is a delay on Visa’s side and they are having issues with the credits going through in a timely manner. In any case, Starbucks adjusted the credit to my card so I did end up receiving it. Just wanted to let everyone know where things stand and that contacting Starbucks directly results in the $5 being applied. Hope this helps!

    I never received mine either and when I call Starbucks they said it was only available to people who received an email from the company for this special promo. It wasn’t available to everyone. Bummer…

    Hmm.. that doesn’t sound right to me. I did it and it worked and I didn’t get an email.

    I wrote another email to complain that is wasn’t stated in the fine print about being only for customers who received a special email and they finally credited my account. YEA! Persistence works…
