Safeway Deals 08/29 – 09/04

08/28/2012. This post may contain affiliate links. Read my Disclosure Policy.

You can see Safeway’s coupon policy right here. Most stores will allow you to stack a manufacturer coupon with the store coupons that can be found in the weekly circulars. You will want to be sure to get a club card for Safeway to take advantage of the sale prices! Safeway sale prices tend to vary from region to region so you will always want to double check your local ad! Also, I do not have double coupons in my area so your prices are likely much better than mine!

Be sure to read about the new Just for U program rolling out at Safeway!

*This week the $10 catalina is back when you spend $75 at Safeway.  The offer runs 8/29-9/3 only and all the exclusions are listed in the ad.  My Safeway also has signs about an extra gas reward of $.30 off per gallon when you spend $75 or more in groceries.

Also there are several Kraft items for the Kraft catalina offer in this week’s ad.  I did a sample scenario at the very bottom but I’d love to hear what your plans are for this offer.  All the details about the Kraft catalina are listed here.

Looks like the max amount on the B2 G1 Nabisco coupon is $2.50. I think that changes it to $1.83/ea when you get 3.

Charlene August 28, 2012 at 10:11 AM

Gail,

I noticed that and removed the scenario a bit ago. Just refresh your screen and you should see the updates.

Is the $10.00 wyb $75.00 deal before coupons? We have Vons in my city.

Karen T. August 28, 2012 at 12:43 PM

For your Kraft Deal Idea, isn’t the Kraft Cheese Slices a limit of 2 @ the $2.50 price?

Charlene August 28, 2012 at 12:49 PM

Karen,

The limit 2 is listed for the Just for u coupon on the front flap but the $2.50 price is listed on page 3 of my ad with no limits specified.

The printed ad says $1/1 off Oscar Mayer Franks but it looks like the digital coupon says $1/2 off ?

Is anyone else having a problem with Safeway scanning particular internet coupons?
I shop at a couple of Safeway’s in SF East Bay. Today for the second time in three weeks, 3 of my coupons would not scan. Two were for the Hormel deli meat from coupons.com. The other was a Smartsource coupon for Allegra. The cashier told me that if the coupons don’t scan they cannot take them. I asked her to put in the numbers and she said that they had to scan. After she walked away to talk to customer service and get confirmation, she came back and what do you know…they scanned! Problem solved.
They only thing I notice is that the bar codes on these look different than my other coupons. I also have a lousy desk jet printer with cheap ink which doesn’t help. (Will unpack my new laser printer this weekend.)
I am more concerned about this no scan, no acceptance policy I am hearing. Am I the only one?

Jill August 28, 2012 at 5:55 PM

Lisa I have had the same problem at Target & Savemart in N Calif. If they do not scan they will not accept them. Also the last month or so at Target when you have a BOGO that is computer printed they will only accept 1 coupon per day from you. They say it is because of the amount of fraudulent coupons they have been getting. :(

franki August 28, 2012 at 8:33 PM

I got the new ad today and saw that Kraft sald dressing is BOGO, also qualifies for Kraft Catalina. Signs were up tonight, I bought 10 and got $10 Catalina.
Shelf price is 2.99
2.99 x 10=29.90
-14.95 BOGO
=14.95, get 10 CAT =.50ea
less if you have the $1/2 printable coupons
There’s also a $1/1 digital coupon for one of these
I have a Just4U price under $2, so little moneymaker even without coupons. The food bank will be getting lots this week

@ Lisa-the “new” single barcode printables don’t scan at all in local self checkout (I’m in south bay)
Glad we don’t have that policy-how are you supposed to know ahead if they will scan? it’s like roulette. For sure I’d take the item off if they don’t take the coupon, if just to send a message that such a policy cost them sales.
@Becky-I’m pretty sure they don’t offer the digial coupons listed in the ad until the ad actually breaks, We *should* get $1/1 tomorrow, as well as $1/2 already offered

I was looking through my just for u coupons and I found a Herbal Essences, Secret, or Old Spice coupon for $2.49 ea limit of 4. I have a coupon for $3/2 Herbal Essences shampoo or conditioner found in the 8/5/12 RP making them $.99 ea… not a bad price :)

Mary August 28, 2012 at 11:12 PM

ooops for some reason I just noticed u have this deal posted…I think I need to call it a night :)

Endcapps August 29, 2012 at 8:52 AM

Picked-up a Sept. Fresh Ideas Magazine. Lukewarm coupons, but maybe someone will find a deal–
$2/1 Fresh Express Family Clamshell Salad, x10/31
$.25/1 any Litehouse Caramel Product, x12/31
$.75/1 O Organics Celery Hearts, x12/31
$.50/1 Sun Rype Pack

I’m excited that Sprouts is coming to my area! Do you find produce deals are better at Sprouts, compared to Safeway? I will be following your Sprouts Posts weekly now :)

Endcapps August 29, 2012 at 6:35 PM

franki,
Thx for the Kraft Dressing info! I also have a coupon for “$1 off Produce wyb 2 Kraft Dressings”. It was a tri-fold thing with recipes & the coupon on a tearpad /shipper display. Don’t remember where I got it, sorry.

The $1/1 digital coupon for Dressing which you mentioned, however, looks to be for the larger 24 oz ? I think my J4u Personalized Price is $1.88 for the 14-16oz, and those are the sizes we’re targeting. Thx for your scenario!

Lori August 30, 2012 at 10:51 PM

I have 20% off Safeway frozen veggies in my JFU account. Good deal?

Charlene August 30, 2012 at 10:58 PM

Yes Lori I think that is a great deal. The frozen veggies were in my ad for $.99 this week. That would be $.80 and really I don’t see it very much lower plus you don’t have to jump through any hoops :).

jean September 2, 2012 at 7:34 PM

My Vons (in So. CA) has Honey Bunches of Oats on sale for $1.88. I had a $1 off 2 loaded to my Just 4 You account and then a manufacturer paper coupon for $1/2. I bought 4 and I got a $3 catalina surprise at the register! So, $0.63 per box after the sale, coupons, and cat! Such a nice surprise!

Charlene September 2, 2012 at 8:22 PM

Jean,

That is a great deal :). I posted it here:
