There are two new free apps you can grab right now for kids- Paint Sparkles and Alphabet Zoo. Both of these look really fun for kids while also being a learning tool.
Here is a quick description:
Paint Sparkles Draw introduces children to the names of all basic colors while developing their sense of vision and creativity. Finger painting was never so easy and fun. Carefully designed for small ages the app is Child-Safe and extra easy to use.
Alphabet Zoo is designed and reviewed by educators to teach children letter-sound association, an essential skill for learning to read. More importantly, kids have fun playing with the animals and creative sounds without even realizing they’re learning.
Both of these are for iPhone or iPad users.

I just loaded Alphabet Zoo and that app is a crack up! I like the letters and that it sounds them out, but instead of maybe the typical horse for ‘H’ it uses a hedgehog and ultrasaurus for ‘U’. And I would say it’s not the best app for a good demonstration of animal sounds … you almost have to download yourself to see. Pretty funny! But on the high side it’s keeping my almost 3 year old that won’t sit still for two minutes or quit nagging me all day, busy for a few minutes and I feel like she is getting SOME value out of it … LOL!
