There is a really nice new Safeway app available to those of you with smart phones. It has tons of features and some are really handy!
Here’s a run down:
- You can view your store’s weekly ad. First you’ll have to plug in your zip code, choose your store and then it breaks down the ad in categories like baby care, beverages, frozen foods and more.
- Also available is the Just for U Coupon Center. Scroll through the list of coupons, choose “Add to My Card” so the coupons will be on your card and ready to use when you swipe your card at the cash register.
- You’ll also be able to see your Just for U Personalized Deals broken down by department. As a reminder, these are the deals that are created just for you that are typically based on prior purchases. Find the deals you like and choose “Add to My Card.”
- Or if you like, choose the See All Offers option on the main screen to scroll through all the offers from the three categories – Weekly Ad, Coupon Center and Personalized Deals – all in one place. As you look at each item, you will be able to see which category it’s from.
Once you’ve gone through all the deals and chosen the ones you want put on your card, choose My Card from the menu at the bottom of the screen. This will show you all the deals and coupons that are on your card ready to be used.
There is also a My List option in the menu at the bottom of the screen. This is a same Shopping List function as if you were using the Just for U program on your computer.
After poking around through this app it looks like an easy to use alternative to using your computer. It would be perfect if you were waiting for an appointment or at the park with your kids and wanted to quickly view the Safeway deals, add them to your card and have them all ready to go for a shopping trip.
And don’t forget, you call always check the Coupon Database as well to see if there are any manufacturer coupons to match up with the Safeway store coupons to take along with you to the store for an even better deal!
Have you used the Safeway app yet? What do you think?
Stephanie says
Like it! I haven’t used it yet. I’m smartphone illiterate! Lol. I have a windows phone so I don’t think that I can use all these apps. My DH has a droid though. I need to figure this out…

I have this app on my iPod Touch. I am a simpleton, and get a kick out of watching the e-coupon “fly” onto my list when I select it.
Erin says
I have a newbie question, are the coupons from Safeways website store coupons or manufactor coupons?
Stephanie says
There are both Safeway and manufacturers coupons. The safeway coupons are obvious, like for Safeway branded products and coupons from the weekly ad. The manufacturers coupons you’ll recognize too if you print coupons.

Charlene, Have you been using this app? What do you think? Is it any different than the website content?
Charlene says
Cathy,
I find it more convenient actually. I spend a lot more time on the laptop then most people though so I never have the patience to sit and do shopping lists. You can shift your stuff into a shopping list too so you have everything with you.
