So as I mentioned a few days ago, I thought I’d start an attempt at an ongoing Costco price list.
This is some of the items that I feel are a great deal at Costco. I also included some popular items that are not such a great deal but I thought a price comparison might be a nice thing (for example the Uncrustables.)
Since Costco sells bulk items, I tried to simplify by breaking things down to a price comparison for the sizes you would see in the grocery store. I find it is much easier for me to understand if a 10ct box of waffles is a good deal then just looking at the price of a 60ct box of waffles. I hope this is helpful for you as well.
These are all prices from my Costco store so I can’t guarantee that you will find the same deals at your store. Many of these items seem to stay pretty consistent but I will do my best to keep things updated and to continue to add more things.
You can click below to see the price list or you can head over here to see the Costco Coupon Deals running through 5/6 only.
To find this list in the future, you can simply click on “Stores” on the orange navigation bar on the top right of the blog and then click “Costco” or you can just bookmark the Costco Deals page.
Please feel free to share any other great deals you spotted recently in the comments below.
Lupe says
I went to costco last week and they had 3 pounds of almonds for about 10.00. I thought that was a great price seeing as I usually pay $6 for 1 pound at the grocery store.
Annye says
Whew! How long did you work Costco to gather all of this information for us, Charlene? Once again: You’re the best! Thank you for all your time and hard work!
Erica says
I know what you meant, but wanted to clarify that the wipes are 2.2 cents per wipe or $0.022. Still not a good deal, but better than 22 cents each. Thanks so much for this price list and everything you do. You save this momma lots of money. 🙂 You’re the best.
Aishwarya says
Kirkland baby wipes price should be 0.022 per wipe. Isn’t that a good price?
Steve says
You might want to check the math on some of those price comparisons, like the baby wipes. Its not $.22, its $.02.
Charlene says
Steve,
I did actually spend several hours on this and I did check the math and recheck the math and rechecked the math once again. I apologize for making a mistake on the baby wipes. It was actually just a small typo that has been corrected.
Charlene says
Aishwarya,
Prices are subjective. If you feel it is a good price, I would go ahead and purchase them. .022 per wipe is like paying $1.58 for a regular size tub. So while it is not a bad deal, I don’t think it is a great deal either. Usually when I post Amazon deals they are closer to .019 or so per wipe. If you have coupons you can usually get the tubs pretty regularly for $1.49 or even $.99 each with doubles. Plus in those cases you get the actual tub too and not just a soft refill pack.
Arden says
Last month, the wipes were $14.99 (instant savings of $5 because of their monthly coupon book)…making them $.016655 each. What is the best price for wipes to stock up on?
Cheryl says
Thanks for your post, Charlene. Costco does have some prices that can’t be beat, but not on everything…you really do have to do the math. And, of course, couponing has made me aware that things I once thought were “deals” really aren’t. :0)
Yunnie says
Thank you Charlene! You’re the best!
amomonthego says
The Go Go Squeeze applesauce is sometimes on sale at costco for $2.50 off so it is a great deal and time to stock up on them. I have compared the prices to target and costco is better by far!
Charlene says
Arden,
That would have been a great price as long as you are happy with the Costco Brand. I usually change it to price per tub in my mind so .016 is like paying $1.15 for a 72ct tub. I don’t have double coupons in my area so that would have been a stock up price to me. I usually feel like any price with a .01 in front is going to be a good deal.
Wipes are getting harder to find deals on but if I remember correctly the Target brand or maybe it is the Luvs brand is usually about $1.47 per tub without any coupons and that is just a good everyday price in my opinion.
momto3 says
you forgot produce! organic salad mix/spinach, carrots is where i think there are some decent deals vs. grocery store. also re; baby wipes, if you use cloth wipes, the cost is free! less the washing machine cycles…but thats another debate, lol.
Charlene says
Amomonthego,
I believe that Costco coupon for the applesauce has now expired. I have the new coupon booklet that runs through 6/3 and I don’t see the coupon or the instant savings listed. I tried to just focus on what people can get right now and the applesauce prices are listed above for all of the stores.
I find the best prices for those from Amazon or from Costco. Target beats them both in price when there is a coupon available but those don’t come along very often.
CHARLENE GILMER says
WHAT STATE ARE YOU SHOPPING IN?
Charlene says
Momto3.
I actually didn’t forget produce. I have found that there is no consistent deal on produce at my store. I can’t really create a list when prices fluctuate so much. For Spinach specifically I have purchased the tubs for $2.00 for Organic one week and the next time I am there they don’t have organic and the price jumps to $3.79. With produce the offerings and the prices are never going to be the same for everyone so again, any sort of list I created would probably only apply to people that shop at the exact store I shop at and shop pretty much right after I post the list ;).
I have found a few great deals on produce but overall I get better prices on organic foods from my grocery store. I also don’t tend to waste as much because I can buy the exact quantity I need.
Charlene says
Charlene,
My hope is that this list will be fairly accurate for everyone. If the prices are dramatically different for you on these items please let me know.
Rachel G says
I think the butter is a bargain. even with the coupons we get I don’t see it that low here in sacramento. some things really are outlandish though. I like getting their clothes there. The speedo bathing suits for girls is a great deal around $11. Baby clothes are also great carters infant outfits and the feet pjs are always good at $6-10 depending on what you get. The milk too is great. It’s been $4.99 for 2 gallons for 2% I ususally get 1% but hey I’ll get 2 at that price. milk has been about $3.29 or more lately.
Rachel G says
PS Thank you for the Costco list. sometimes I’m not so sure on things sometimes
Alison says
Thanks Charlene! I agree with momto3 – they have great prices on organic produce. We regularly buy the spinach, you get a ton for $3.29 I believe.
Nicole says
Charlene, Thank you so much for doing this. There are a few things that I love to buy at Costco, but it’s so hard to figure out what is a good deal.
Charlene says
Right Alison. There are some good deals and some prices that aren’t so great on produce. The issue is that the prices are not the same on produce from store to store and also the prices change all the time. The only thing that I find to be consistent is the bananas. I can’t compile a list when prices are not going to be consistent though and so I don’t see how produce would work in this format? I know I don’t find the same thing every time I shop and as I mentioned to the other reader, just taking one item into account- fresh spinach- the brand varies for me and the price varies for me each time I shop.
I usually break the prices down by lb and I find the regular grocery store beats Costco more often then not. That of course will be different for everyone though- we are lucky to have a Sprouts Market here which can’t be beat for produce pricing.
Sharla says
I’m so jealous you have Sprouts! I wish they would branch out here to the Bay Area 🙁 Thanks for the list of deals! I can’t imagine how long that must have taken you!
Rachel Loth says
Thank you Charlene. This took a lot of work and its very helpful. I appreciate it!
On a side note, I have 5 young children and Ive used all types and brands of wipes and I really like Costco’s wipes. They are thicker and I think you use less than the other thinner wipes. So it probably evens out 🙂
Lisa P says
I don’t have prices to pipe in on but just things that I have observed.
I have shopped at Costco in California for a long time (over 10 years) and have the benefit of one being 5 minutes away from me. I have only “couponed” for the last year. During the last year year what I have learned is that in order to find out if anything at any store is a good deal, you have to be aware of what products you use and how much of it you use. I have a toddler now and $5.19 for 2 gallons of 2% milk is a good deal. However, before my toddler, I would have never finished 2 gallons of milk by the “use by” date and buying 2 gallons of milk when I only needed 1 half gallon would have been a complete waste.
I am also picky about some products I use and not picky on others. I personally like the Costco baby wipes because they are one of the biggest wipes out there. They also don’t irritate my kid’s skin. Who wants to use 2 wipes when you can use only one and avoid getting something on your hands? The extra half cent or whatever is worth it to me and I end up using less wipes and save money.
Produce deals and the quality is great at Costco but again, you have to look at how much you really need. If you buy 4 of whatever and only use two, you may end up losing money and wasting product. We have a Sprouts here and while the produce is cheap, I have been disappointed in the in the quality of the produce overall. So I prefer to shop for produce elsewhere.
The Costco pharmacy usually has the best price on prescription and over the counter medications. As well as other products like Aveeno Moisturizer, Cetaphil, and Olay products. It can be better than the coupon plus store sale price. You do not need to be a Costco member to use the pharmacy, by the way.
So like Charlene says, the prices will vary from region to region and product availability will too. But it is always worth checking out. Write the prices and sizes down and then check out other stores and compare if it is a good value for YOU.
Rachel R. says
Thanks for this list! I have found that coupons at the grocery store beat Costco 99% of the time. But, I do buy the kids Gummy Vitamins at Costco and baby wipes when they are $4 off. And the clothes are pretty great.
merrie says
Thanks so much for doing this. I just got a membership @ Costco & before I did I did a walk through and wrote down all the prices and net weight for every item I would buy. I then went to my local grocery store I shop @ each week and I compared the prices. So……with that said I totally know how much time it took you to do this and I really appreciate it. You continue to save this momma of 3 little girls a ton of money!
MJ Gerd says
You have found a niche in the coupon blogging world! I don’t know any other site that does this!! Thanks!
Lisa P says
Sharla,
Are you talking about the San Fran Bay Area? If you are, they have and are continuing to open stores here. I have shopped at the one in Dublin, CA. I would check there website because I know there are more here if you are close enough to check it out.
And ditto to Rachel Loth-Costco does have great, quality baby wipes.
Lisa P says
Sharla,
Oops! I meant to ask if you were talking about Sprouts in the San Fran Bay Area? They do have them here. Check out the Sprouts website for locations.
Claire says
Thank you so much for this deal, Charlene.
Costco is about 10 minutes away and I love shopping for stuff there.
This really helps a lot.
wendy says
i had always hoped someone would do this for Costco. Thanks!!
Sharla says
Yes SF Bay Area but we are south end. I just saw some on the north end on their website so I am hopeful!!
And like many others Costco wipes are my favorite. I did just see an insert in my last package though that said they were coming out with new and improved wipes that are a. alcohol free (yay) and b. thicker (boo! I like them exactly how they are)
Tiffany @ DontWastetheCrumbs says
The Kirkland brand tortilla chips (can’t remember if they’re the regular or organic) are actually made by Mission. It says on the package and they are DELICIOUS!
Tiffany @ DontWastetheCrumbs says
Thanks for the time you’ve put into this. I have my own list going, but it’s taken me a few years to get it to where it is! Whenever you decide to work on this again, check out these items – I always get them at Costco, either for price or quality:
Craisins (when coupon issued)
Almonds
Kirkland Org PB
Smuckers Jelly
Flour
Sugar
Garlic
Oatmeal
Bacon
Kernel Popcorn
BTW, Costco often issues coupons for Nestle chocolate chips, trash bags and Finish dishwashing tabs and when they do, there can be significant savings! I try to stock up for 6 months!
Michelle B says
Charlene –
As always 🙂 You Rock! Thank you for compiling this awesome list. I have a mini list on my phone for the things we always have to have in the house just to compare.
I like to buy wine at Costco…usually their prices are pretty good. I know you can get a bit better deal with sales and multi bottle discounts at the grocery store, but I don’t drink often enough to justify buying 6 bottles at a time!
One interesting thing I heard at work is that the Costco brand vodka is bottled side by side at some high-end brand…one bottle get’s the name brand label…one get’s Costco’s – Same Vodka, better price.
Charlene says
Michelle,
I agree. I always buy wine at Costco too. Just easy and a great selection and great prices. They had Bogle Petite Sirah for like $7 a few weeks ago and I bought several.
Susan says
Fantastic! Thank you so much for putting this together!
Crystal says
Thanks again for posting this Charlene! 🙂
karen says
thanks so much for the costco option! CAn you also include other warehouse stores(sams club, bjs?) I live in FLoriday and we have a BJs and I love how we can use manufactuer coupons and a regular credit card not THEIR credit card.
Katie Ricotta says
The greek yogurt tends to be a good price too. They have cheaper milk and eggs, and sometimes their fruit is cheaper at Costco. As far as the wipes go, they are a little more expensive but they are amazing wipes. They are bigger and I think work better then most. I have to use 2 pampers wipes for the same mess that takes 1 kirkland wipe. Dog food is also cheaper at Costco, even with coupons.
Charlene says
Katie,
You are right about the dog food and the quality of the food is great as well. I hope to keep adding on to this list but I would really love to hear if the prices I listed are consistent across the country.
Charlene says
Karen,
I don’t have a BJs so I can’t really post the deals :(. With these deals I actually had to drag my fanny to the store to check.
We do have Sam’s but I am curious about the interest level of those deals. It doesn’t seem like people care much about Sam’s and I never really find much there myself. Has your experience been different?
Charlene says
Tiffany,
Yes the spices and such are a great deal. I hope to add more of that stuff 🙂
Sunnie says
This is great! Thanks for doing this, we used to shop at Costco, we quit for a litlle bit, but know we live out in the country and we really need to start going again. Thanks so much for doing this!
Danielle says
Thanks for putting this together! I am so excited to find a Costco pricelist! I’ve only been couponing for a few months and haven’t seen many coupons/deal combos that beat a few of our Costco favorites: applesauce, string cheese, butter, flour, to name a few.
I’d love to see diapers added to the list. I always get myself confused as to what a good diaper price is once I’m in Costco trying to decide. This month’s coupon book has $6 off Huggies!
Charlene says
Danielle,
I did check the price on diapers and it was $.17-.28 each at my store. That is an OK price but not really that good in my opinion :). I am going to do a more thorough pricing on those one the new coupon book is in place. I think the deal will be a lot better :).
Heidi says
You are awesome! Thank you for all your hard work, time & effort. You bless so many of us! It’s so great to know that at the end of my busy day, when I”m exhausted, I can still figure a way to save a few $! Blessings to you!
Tina says
Your prices were right on at AZ Costco. Thank you!
Joyce says
This is awesome Charlene. I am sure it will be a great help to many.
I am a big couponer and shop at Costco. I have found that Costco is great for things like bread, tortillas, dairy, nuts, and when items are discounted through their monthly coupon booklet. If I need something like Ritz or Cheez Its before I can find a great stockpile price elsewhere, I’ll buy one box at Costco to tide us over.
I rarely buy P&G type products there. I have stockpiles of toiletries, soaps, and paper products compliments of the drug chain deals.
I haven’t had to buy pet food in years due to being able to stockpile freebies with coupons, but I am going to run out pretty soon, and I’m pretty sure Costco will have the lowest regular price.
