And I have to tell you I massively dorked out at Target when I spotted these shorts.  I may have possibly let out a squeal of delight.

If you have little girls then you might face the issue of what to put under dresses.  My girls wear tights or leggings so their little bottoms  are covered up when they wear dresses.  If yours are like mine- well we want them having fun and not worrying about modesty.

Anyway, we have MonkeyBar Buddies Shorts which go under dresses.  They are short enough to not show and they are a spandexy fabric so very comfy for the kids.  The bummer is they are horrifically expensive at $16 a pop.

So I was just thinking that someone who made little under dress shorts for a decent price would make a fortune and lookee here!  Target has them for $5.00!  This is a brand new item so not every store will carry them but worth looking for if you can use these.

I hate to not support a small business (MonkeyBar Buddies) but I couldn’t notice any difference between the Target ones and the MonkeyBar ones except where the bow is located.  The fabric is like a swimsuit so super comfy!

  2. Charlene says

Yeah! I thought I was crazy because you just can’t find these darn things! MonkeyBar Buddies are the only ones I can find. I was thinking if anyone is a sewer they should start an Etsy store. I fully expect a free pair for giving the idea ;).

  3. Tonja says

THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU….my daughter won’t wear skirts because she doesn’t want boys to see her underwear and these little shorts are great and soooo hard to find. My mom is a a very crafty lady. I am going to buy a pair and she can use them as a pattern. Thanks so much :)

  4. Hally says

thank you for the shorts image… perhpse you have the DPCI # and I can check out if near by Target does carry them?

I have indeed also look at Target, Kohls, Walmart in the past. NOTHING that’s great :( hopefully with a DPCI number I can find it in Target this time?

    Thank you!!!!!!

Check out Old Navy too….they have “jersey biker shorts” that you might like for your girls. Thanks for the tip on Target. That’s much more the price I can afford. :-)

  6. Cory says

Thanks for posting about the shorts! My little girl is finally too big for those cute diaper covers and I’ve been looking for something to put under her dresses!

  7. Carolyn says

They now have “Playground Pants” (brand/label name) which are back by the underwear on an end rack area. They are similar to your description of lycra & shorter than bike shorts. $8 for a 2 pack. Black & Black, Dark pink & light pink and possibly another color combo. I’m hoping these will work as cheer bloomers for my 10 yr old. I bought them today!

  8. Carolyn says

I just looked at your link for the Monkeybar Buddies….The Playground Pants look exactly like the pictures! Bows and all!

  9. Charlene says

Ok Carolyn that is great! I will look for those. The colors of the $5 ones were not terribly attractive so plain colors sound better to me ;).

  10. G deCarion says

    Just by accident—went to 20+
Targets looking for more–W/ NO LUCK!!

Does any1 know how to find more??
*& I did use my receipt & had them look
It up at the store–they could not even find
    Them!! :(….

  11. Charlene says

I haven’t seen them recently. They were on clearance at my store maybe 2 months ago.

Have you looked in the underwear section and also the ballet clothing section?

We bought some Playground Pants in a too-big size last year (Spring/Summer 2012) to take advantage of my Target RedCard 5% off discount which ended that same day. I thought I could take them back a few days later and exchange them for the size we actually needed, but it was STILL out of stock… and despite how many times I checked back, somehow all of the Playground Pants got clearanced out without me noticing and there was nothing all winter. This year when I checked again in Spring 2013, Target was carrying a different brand but essentially the same item. I want to say the price was 2 pairs for $10, but I’m not positive on that as I didn’t buy them that day. I was mostly bummed that I can’t exchange the ones we have, so I guess I’ll have to wait until she grows into them in a few years. In the meantime though, we may have to go get that other brand!
