If you need some little lunchbox snacks or something to toss in the diaper bag, Amazon has a good price on fruit leather right now. These are actually cheaper than the last time I posted about them- it works out to $.30 each after discount.

I like to get these for the girls as a treat since they are a slightly better alternative to the super sugary fruit snacks and there is no sugar added.

There are several flavors to choose from at $11.99
Select which one you prefer (strawberry, mango, raspberry etc…)
Click subscribe and save on the upper right corner and the price drops to $10.19

The shipping is free.

I heard last time from one reader that these are slightly less expensive at Costco.  I checked my store on 3 different shopping trips and I did not find these so that may be hit or miss.

*****Once your order arrives you can either keep a regular delivery by doing nothing- but note the price is not guaranteed to stay the same.  OR you can simply go into your account and click the button to cancel subscribe and save.  There is no further obligation.

PS: Now before you think I have lost my mind. I tend to get lost in pinterest for long periods of time. I discover all sorts of clever things I never knew I needed or wanted- including these little fancy lunchboxes for kiddos. One thing I have started to do is dress up our dinners and lunch boxes Bento style for my girls. This is certainly not from a lack of things to do with my days but more a desperate attempt to stop the regular and constant arguements over eating decent food. So anyhoo, this seriously takes no time at all to do:

Another Lunch

Now my lunches are not this professional, but I have been just cutting these strips into thirds and then using a flower or heart or star shaped cookie cutter (the small ones) and viola! Just put it on top of a quesadilla, sandwich, yogurt etc.. and it makes it look so adorable. The leftover part actually looks really nice too- so some days the kids get the heart cut out and the next day they get the square with the heart removed. No waste at all.

Wow, clever bento lunches are popular in Japan. I borrowed a library book on the subject. The hard core Japanese moms wake up daily at 3 am to begin work on their kids’ bento boxes, spending 3 hours perfecting Hello Kitty, or train, or whatever designs! The school children compare/critique each mom’s creations in the lunch room. Pressure!

LOL- I know. I read about that trend a long time ago and thought- who are these mothers exactly that worry about nonsense ;). Now I am one of them. I figure 5-10 min extra to make the food prettier is my max. I will not be getting up at 3am anytime soon.
