you sure are awful touchy lately with people calling you out on your typos. I think you need a little lesson in patience…a lot of people are new to couponing and may just not understand yet if it’s actually a typo, or if they are permitted to use a coupon for a different product and are just trying to clarify..also, not everyone’s first language is English and therefore may not understand your scenarios clearly to begin with, much less when there’s a typo….I think you can relax a little and maybe just roll with it and come back with something more along the lines of “oops, typo” and not be so ugly, as I’ve noticed you have been in the last few days…or, another route, hire an editor and therefore have less typos…
we are all very appreciative for all the work you put into this blog. Hence the reason we all read it everyday, several times a day….maybe you can just be a little nicer to your readers…I didnt see the person above getting upset at all, confused maybe, but not upset……

Lonnie when people type in ALL CAPS or use multiple symbols like !!!!!!!!!!!!!! or ???????????????????? it does come across to me as angry, upset or yelling at me. I am not sure what a second language would have to do with that but I will keep that in mind.
I don’t think I am touchy or an ugly person. I respond quickly to each and every person that asks questions on this site and there are hundreds and hundreds of questions and comments per day that come though.
I don’t think I can afford to hire an editor but thank you for your feedback. I do have two small children underfoot during the day which can make it difficult to think and write as clearly as I would like. I will take into consideration your suggestions and perhaps if I cut back considerably on the volume of posts it will give me more time to carefully proofread each one to ensure they are all correct.
After the long post about you being nasty, I had to leave a post saying how awesome I think you are! You do so much work so I don’t have to do the leg work. I appreciate it so much! Thank you!
I hear ya Melanie! I too appreciate so much coming to this site everyday and having all the work done for me (the work that requires me to use my brain at least). I also have two small children and feel like every other thing I say, do, type, etc. is mixed up because my house is a little crazy & loud most of the time. LOL Julie- sometimes I pray there isn’t a hidden camera somewhere when I am typing things. I was actually posting something from the emergency room on Sat night because my toddler shoved playdoh way deep into her ear… so we were sitting there ages and I pulled out the laptop :P. I post from the park… the indoor playyards…outside… from the Target parking lot… the gym on occasion…. whenever I can get a spare moment. The only consistent is there is usually a lot of noise ;).
Charlene, thank you for all that you do! I have been following you for over 2 years now (and I am pretty sure I’ve seen you at Target….not to sound like a stalker lol) and I think that you have the most comprehensive, applicable, and well-rounded blog that I have found. Especially the local stores like Sprout, Sunflower, and SaveMart which I can’t seem to find anywhere else. Your advice has saved me and my family from some very hard times. You should not have to explain yourself to those “awful touchy” naysayers who should take their own advice and “not be so ugly” or “relax a little and maybe just roll with it” to realize that not everyone hears, sees, or feels the way that they do.

To those who want to critique Charlene or anyone else doing a blog for the public, keep in mind that the tone that comes across in print can be VERY different than a face to face meeting. How about sending your concerns to the person individually rather than posting for the public to read? It would probably be appreciated and appropriately clarified.

You’re awesome for the hardwork you do Charlene!! When I first started couponing and began using your site I was a stay at home mom of three ages three, two and one (YES, You read correct hehee). Then I went part time and then got promoted to full time. I can barely find time to get on find the deals I want let alone cut and organize my binder like before so my hat goes off to you! Your free service and time goes a long way and I deeply appreciate it =)
I found your response not ugly but simple and straight to the point. I love how you try to engage with your readers on a personal level and find it rather funny for someone to critique and write paragraphs in regards to a response of two sentences….I think the other person may have had a bad day and was reading too deep into it. 😉

Yolanda, there are several hundred comments that come through per day. When I run giveaways it is several thousand. I have to hand approve each and every one of them which takes more time than you might think. I appreciate when people take the time to leave comments and it is very important to me to respond to each one. I try to respond quickly and concisely when people ask questions so that I can be sure to get to them all. I am very sorry that comes across as short to you. And yes I am the only person that reads comments and responds to comments. 😉
