If you ordered this little Step 2 patio set a few days ago at just $15, it looks like we have an update on order status. JC Penney posted this on the Facebook wall today:
We apologize for the recent incorrect pricing issue for our step2 patio and shade play set. Due to the pricing error we had an over abundance of orders placed. We will be honoring the price of $15 with a limit of one per customer until our stock has been depleted. We will be contacting all customers to inform them of their order status.
So that is wonderful news because there was a lot of concern about this deal. I do want to note two points- one is that some of your ordered multiple sets and it appears they are only allowing one per customer. I know that may be disappointing but to even honor the price is really wonderful in my opinion since this set is normally $90!
The second note is that they mentioned they would fill orders with the inventory they have. So I wouldn’t get too excited about this set until you actually see the shipment confirmation. This deal concerned me because it lasted a LONG time so they may have taken more orders than they can actually fill.
I have to say I am very pleasantly surprised at how well JCP has handled this issue. I full expected them to cancel everyone’s orders so this is excellent customer service.

They did this last month with the Melissa and Doug blocks. Sometimes I wonder if this is just some way for them to get some good customer service publicity.
Seems like a fair resolution to me. Fingers crossed that my order goes through.
LOL- or their inventory systems really are that bad 😉
I think sometimes pricing gets messed up in the systems.

N, I smell something fishy too. They didn’t even tell us with the Melissa and Doug blocks. It seems odd that this would happen more than once in such a short period of time unless they really do manage their business that poorly.

hear broken since a friend and i ordered together and now we only get one and she was going to give her to her daughter for her birthday so i would feel bad keeping it. This is not the first time I’ve ordered something through JCPenny and it ends up being and issue. I don’t think I will order from them again.

At least they did their best to own up to & honor their mistake. Toys R Us just cancelled our orders last month with the Crayola deals and that was it. So, at least JCP is trying to do something proactive for the customers. Kudos to them!
Jen a lot of people got those Crayola orders. I got 2 orders actually. I am sorry yours was cancelled.
I had ordered one. I called to asked a question and it is shipped directly from step2 so I’m wondering exactly how inventory works in this situation LOL! Seems odd.
Melissa – Usually with manufacturer ships, the retailer requests an amount of the inventory in their warehouses at a specific price. The retailer can order more, but not usually at that price. So, this is probably what they mean by handling it with the inventory available although it is shipped directly from the manufacturer.
crossing my fingers! here’s hoping everyone that ordered gets at least one! maybe we’ll get lucky and they’ll have enough to cover 1 for everyone…hey, you never know….positive thinking!!
Has anyone had any order changes? My order still looks like it did and the estimated ship date is for 1/10/12. Just curious if my quantity will be corrected.
called JCP on this for the second time because never got that call and my order status says complete. She said the new ship date has moved to the 12th because of the issues they were trying to resolve. She said call this Friday if we havn’t gotten anything by then.
Finally @ 6:48 got an email not a call from JCP appologizing that I will not recieve either of the two sets my friend and i ordered. They included a $50 off $50 redemption code for a future online item. So upset would have rather have had the tables even if they were on back order till the summer. This is the 3rd time in a year JCP has done this on an order I’ve placed. Won’t buy anything from them in the future.

I just recieved an email stating that they could not send me mine due to depletion of the item. They did however send me a code to get $50 off a $50 purchase. I think that is a good deal. The coupon/code is good online through April 28, 20102.
2 of my friends and I just recd the same email that Stacey did! Im very please of how this was handled and now can treat myself or my littles to some new spring clothes!

Very disappointed about not honoring their ad.. I did receive the $50 off $50… Not sure if that is for one or the two sets I ordered? Hoping maybe one of them will ship!!!
I just received the same email after receiving a letter that It was being shipped.. Now they want to give me the 50 on 50 on orders.. Not happy about this at all was a gift..
Kelly, I posted an alternate table that works out to be cheaper. If they can’t get the product to fill orders I think this was a very generous compromise. I am sorry you are so unhappy but I bet with $50 you can find another item that will make a wonderful gift. Most companies would have simply cancelled and left it at that.
Does any one know if they will be refunding our $18.50 or if their just saying $50 when really it’s $30 I would like my money back + $30 to spend.
