Reminder: Donate Your Expired Coupons!

Just a quick reminder that you can donate any expired coupons you might have to overseas military families. There are a TON of coupons that expired yesterday.

Many military members stationed overseas don’t have access to coupons and they can use them at the commissary after they have expired.

So this is a very simple thing to do to support our military and their families.  They can use the coupons up to 6 months after they expire but you will want to try and mail them within a few weeks of their expiration.

You can send your coupons to the Overseas Coupon Program.  You will need to fill out a very short form to adopt a base and then you will hear from someone with the details of where you can send your coupons!

Hey quick question… Does the OCP accept printable coupons? I have a boatload of those that just expired in addition to the newspaper q’s.

My poor coupon binder looks sad and empty now after clearing out all the expireds!

I collect for people around the US. I just add them to my box each week and send to one of the bases on the list. 🙂

Do you know if I would need to pay for the shipping?

Shannon, the OCP is not the one getting the coupons. If you read their notes, you will see you can send over anything that is not a store coupon. The bases will take all manufacture and military coupons(yes, I had someone sending them to me). As for the store coupons, they do not have those stores(Target/ Walgreens) over there, so they can’t use them. Just make sure to send them within two months of expiration. I would have people send me ones from a year ago. No sense wasting your money if they are that expired.

Michelle, yes, you need to pay for shipping but shipping is the same as if you mail it to a friend in the US. I suggest getting a flat rate mailer. You can stack it full as long as it closes. Don’t forget to fill out the customs forms and included the proper postage. I have people send me envelopes all the time and I have to pay the extra postage. We don’t want our military to have to pay that or have your envelopes returned.

Just my experience and hope it helps.

One more thing, make sure to sort them into food and nonfood piles. Make sure to label them too! 🙂

Absolutely! I send over ones I do not use! They do not have to be expired. I have people that will pick up extra coupons in the store just to send over. Good or bad, they are getting used.

Ingrid, what city are you in in Germany? I will gladly adopt your base if it’s on the OCP website.

It is in Ramstein, Germany. but it is not on the list.

@Ingrid, I have no problem sending them to you, but wanted to avoid sending more than you can use if others send to you as well. That is the only reason I wanted to adopt your base, just to try to spread them as far as they’ll go. Since that’s not an option, I’ll gladly send mine to you and you can share as you see fit.
