This is a cute alternative to Elf on the Shelf and way cheaper too.
You can get Pop In Kins Elf Pop-In-Kins Christopher Bookset for $11.99. This seems to be the same as Elf on the Shelf- the idea is that the elf watches kids all day and reports to Santa if they are good or bad each night.
So the idea is cute but the Elf on the Shelf boxes really didn’t go much lower than $20-25 this year. So you can always grab this guy and have it for next year.
A lot of reviewers found the elf to be cuter than the one in Elf on the Shelf (which I would agree). We caved and bought Elf on the Shelf this year and it made my little girl cry… 🙂
I have also heard that some people want these as keepsakes to pass on to their children when they have children so something like this would be much more affordable if you have more than one child.

Omg!So true! I told my kids about getting the Elf on Shelf book and my daughter was so scared of it,she said,”what if it hides in our room!” She couldn’t sleep all night thinking the elf would appear in her bed.
