I am certainly not one to push anyone into credit cards but this is a nice perk and I wanted to mention it.
Target offers a Red Card, you can either get a credit card or a debit card. The card offers 5% off all your Target or Target.com purchases, which for many of us can really add up.
In addition, they are now offering free shipping on all online orders- no minimum! One last perk is that they offer 1% back to the school of your choice.
If you want to read more about the Target Red Card .
Please note that I don’t recommend credit cards in general and if you are considering it, please be sure to read the terms carefully. The interest rates on those cards is outrageous and that can really negate your savings.

I am in the process of getting the debit card. It links straight to your account and saves you 5% when you use it in the store. I agree that the credit card could be dangerous, but I think the debit card is a good deal!

Funny…. I just realized that an order I placed for rain boots for my girls with today didn’t work, so I just went on Target and there are lots on clearance, plus they are all bogo 50% off. So…. 2 pairs of rain boots shipped was $19 (half off one pair, free shipping, and red card savings ๐ There are some even cheaper, just $7.

Debit card cannot be used for online orders. And you are also liable for the first $50 in charges, if someone charges something fraudulently. I got a debit card myself a few months ago and now wish I had gotten a credit card instead.

Love my red debit card! I also love that if you fill perscriptions at a target location you get more perks! If you fill 5 paid perscriptions they mail you an additional 5% off to be used ontop of the 5% you already get. The free shipping is also great! I used the $5.00 coupon this past weekend and with the free shipping got a tons of stuff! I think I’ll have to get my UPS guy a Christmas gift for sure after he delivers all my packages! Happy Shopping!

Last time I tried I was told by Target you cannot use the debit card online. Do you know if this has changed?
Charlene says
Olga is there a chance they have changed that policy? I read the terms and it says the debit card can not be used on the mobile site only but I don’t see where it says Target.com.
Lynda says
Yes, it can be used online now. It’s a new change that just happened. Trust me I just placed a ton of orders all with my red debit card. They are even advertising it on the radio.

I can’t find in my terms where it says you are liable for the first $50 in fraudulent charges.

You absolutely CAN use the debit card online, I just placed a few orders two days ago. I love the debit card, it links straight to your checking, saves 5% and I do a lot of my normal shopping at Target so it really does add up. Especially when we do big purchases (clothing, Christmas, etc.), 5% can really help!

This was the best news of my day! The other day I put together an order with about $60 worth of stuff and for some reason it kept adding another $23 for shipping. So I ended up scraping the order. Then today I saw this and I have the Target Debit Card I just didn’t know I could use it online, so long story short I got all my stuff shipped to me for right at $50 after discounts! Thanks for sharing this one ๐

Ashley, it is in small font in the terms and conditions that I received with the card. If you do not notify them within 3 days of fraudilent charges, it becomes $500 liability.

Yes – you can now use the debit card online (this wasn’t available previously). I LOVE my debit card – gives me the ability to get 5% off w/o using credit, and I think I’m going to use Target.com more often than before due to free shipping w/o keeping track of any rules or memberships. Also love that I can get cash back up to $40 in the store when I use my debit card.
