This was not featured in the weekly ad so you will want to look for signs advertising this promotion. If you don’t see any signs, you can just take the bags of coffee to the register and have them scan each one. After the 2nd bag is scanned the gift card should immediately appear on the register screen. If for some reason this does not happen, you can always ask the cashier to remove the coffee from your transaction.
Another option for Safeway shoppers is to buy 2 bags this week for $7.49. This is part of the Buy 8 sale so you need to mix and match with 6 other items to get the $7.49 price.

Plus there is supposed to be a $5 Starbucks gift card printing at checkout. I have not tried this myself but many of you had good luck with this so far. So that is sort of like paying $3.49 per bag!
For those that did get the gift card can you tell us if it is just redeemed online for a $5 gift card that can be used anywhere?
For the Starbuck’s promotion – you get a catalina with a special code to enter on the web-site. Then, after you confirm by e-mail, you can print the $5 gift card to use at Starbucks, or you can even load the $5 to your Starbuck’s card. It’s really easy – I’ve done it twice already! I believe the promotion runs thru 10/2

Becky I don’t have a zip code entered in. Did you click beverages to find it? You can use 90210 if you still don’t see it but it should be there for any zip.

Heather, the information is separated by store. The info at the top is for Target. The info at the bottom is exclusive to Safeway.
So is the catalina printing at Safeway stores only for Starbucks store use? It’s not a regular catalina that you can use inside the Safeway store to purchase groceries on the next trip?
Jess right. It is $5 to get a Starbucks coffee at Starbucks and the thing prints from the catalina machine. So it is only a good deal if you like Starbucks, which assuming you are buying Starbucks means you like Starbucks 😛

I was able to transfer the $5 onto my Starbucks card. It did say something about expiring (11/23 I believe), so I don’t know how that is going to work if I don’t use by then. Make sure when you buy them, you only buy 2 per transaction otherwise you won’t get additional catlinas. Unfortunately I made that mistake the first time.
