Shopping Trip: CVS and Target $9.22

I stopped into CVS for the diaper deal today and then to Target to check some prices. Here are a few quick things I grabbed:

CVS:

Transaction #1:
Bought 3 packs of Huggies at $8.99
Used $5/25 CVS coupon
Used $2/1 CVS coupon for diapers
Used (3) $3/1 Huggies coupons

Paid $12.56 including tax.

Transaction #2:
Bought 1 pack Huggies at $8.99
Bought 1 Caramello at $1.00
Bought 1 Bandaid at $3.99
Bought 1 CVS Body Wash at $2.27
Used $2/1 CVS coupon for Huggies
Used $3/1 Huggies coupon
Used Free Caramello coupon
Used Free Bandaids coupon
Used Free Body Wash coupon
Paid $3.58 including tax and got a $10 Gas Station Gift Card back.
*Note: I got a little overage from the CVS coupons.

The total price for the diapers was $16.14 and I got $10 back to use on gas. So $6.14 for 4 packs of diapers which includes $2.21 that was sales tax. I tried to use one $2 CVS coupon per pack of diapers but the register would not allow more than one per transaction. Read about this CVS deal here.

Target: $3.08

Merona Sweater on clearance $16.18- used $3 Target mobile coupon
Musselman’s Applesauce on clearance $1.68
2 Intenrational Delight Creamer $1.25 on clearance- used (2) $.55 coupons= .70 each

So the total toward my grocery budget was $3.08. You might keep an eye out for the clearance at Target- my store has TONS of food products on clearance right now.

So the total toward my grocery budget is $9.22.

My total for the Diapers was 18 because I did not know the register would not allow me (2) CVS coupons in the same trans. Still did good though, only paid $2 more than you. ๐Ÿ™‚

you got a real good deal. how were u able to use the $3 Huggies coupon? i thought that was for diapers with 60 or more in a bag.

    08/14/2011 at 6:19 PM

Well thank you Crystal but I am not at all incredible. If I had more hours in the day I would be great but really the way I shop is the least resistance method :P. I only do the best deals that have the least bother involved, I stick to the stores I like and I spend the least amount of time on coupons possible. So if I can do it you can do it too and probably much better!

Nikki I didn’t know either. I would be thrilled if I was you ๐Ÿ™‚ I usually change my thinking on deals that go south- so instead of saying- well I could have saved $2 more dollars if… Instead I imagine seeing the diapers on a clearance shelf for $2.00 a pack and how incredibly excited I would be to have gotten that deal. I would probably be elated for a few days so just imagine you found them for $2.00 on clearance and no coupons were involved and look how great of a shopper you are ๐Ÿ˜‰

Kris, the coupons I had did not have a 60ct size restriction. I used this one:

    http://myfrugaladventures.com/2011/08/huggies-3-printable-coupon-diapers-4pack/

It is no longer available to print but many people got one in the paper today.

You are awesome. I can never make it. Im trying to figure out what it is. Maybe we don’t have great sales out here in FL and with the rising cost of food…

Our CVS stores haven’t gotten these in, yet! The mgr was super upset that the deal started today, and none of our CVS stores had them! I hope they get them in sometime this week!! I don’t think you can get a raincheck for the gas card deal. UGH!! LOL. Great trip for you, though! YEAH for cheap diapers!

I need to read your tips on how you do so well with spending the least amount of time. I used to do EXCELLENT and since baby #2 came along, I’ve had a hard time. Now to find time to read your suggestions ๐Ÿ™‚ LOL

So just to confirm the only $3 coupon that will work with this deal is the printable one that is no longer available?? I didn’t get a chance to pick a sunday paper today, but was planning on ordering from a clipping service the $3 one from todays insert, if this one is with the size restriction and will not work, please let me know.
    Thanks

FYI, Annie’s Macaroni and Cheese is on sale for $1 at Target. The shells package each have a $1.00 off any Seventh Generation product coupon on the front. I used (3) $1 off coupons and got a FREE Seventh Generation Disinfectant spray (normally $2.99).

  14. Charlene says

    08/14/2011 at 8:54 PM

Sharon, I saw those but I am confused? You used (3) manufacturer coupons on one product?

  15. Charlene says

    08/14/2011 at 8:57 PM

    Bekah,

The coupon for $3 off that was in my newspaper did not have a size restriction. I would ask the service you purchase from for exact wording on the coupons before you buy them. I don’t have any idea what you will be buying so I would address it with whomever you purchase coupons from.

My CVS would not let me use the cvs coupon along with the manufacturer coupon for the Huggies deal. They told me I could only use one or the other?? where can I find the policy to print off and show them? This is the second time I tried it with a different manager and they both said no. It’s only been open a few months, so is it possible they just dont know?? Any suggestions would be GREATLY appreciated.

Nattacha I got it exactly where most of my CVS comes from just in my email.

    Tas,

I can’t help you at all because CVS does not have a written coupon policy. They are supposedly working on one but it has not been released yet. You can call CVS corporate and ask them for assistance in the meantime.

Any one where I can find the CVS $2/1 coupon for diaper?
    Thanks in advance!

All of the CVS’ in my area (southern CA) did not receive their shipment of the slip on diapers. I talked to the store manager at my local cvs and he agreed to honor my coupons for the slip ons on any huggies jumbo pack of diapers. Doesn’t hurt to ask and see if they will honor it at your local store so that you can still get the gas deal.

I just wanted to let everyone know that I went to CVS today and the coupon machine printed a coupon for $3 off the slip on diapers. I was able to use this with one of the 2 CVS printable coupon and the manufacturer coupon. I got three packages, one scrubbing bubbles and a glade airfreshiner and paid $13 and got the gat card.

Hi Charlene. I’ve never done the gas card deal before. So I noticed the paper towels are $5. If I buy 6, but use 5$ off 25$ coupon, as well as some .50 off coupons, will i still be eligible for the card? Thanks!

  28. Charlene says

    08/15/2011 at 11:48 AM

Natty- just check the ad to be sure the item you want to buy has a gas card logo thing next to the price. Then spend $30 before all coupons are applied and you are golden!

I went to CVS today and got the diapers. My store did not have the slip on’s so I tried a transaction with the pull-ups, and both coupons were accepted. I ended up using friends’ cvs cards and got 12 packs of pull-ups for just over $30 after all coupons and gas reward. HOORAY!!!

@tas : I believe you can only use one or the other because technically they are both manufacturer coupons (since the CVS one is still being reimbursed by the manufacturer). My store allowed me to use both, but I did have to separate into different transactions to get more than one of the $2 off for each.

Are all the $2 CVS coupons gone for the diapers? ๐Ÿ™
