Charlene – do you know if it’s 5 per transaction – or can you buy 10 items in one transaction and get $10 off ?
    Thanks

Check your personal prices. I have Nature Valley granola bars @ $2.38, so 1.00 each for me.

One of the ladies on TLC’s Extreme Couponing show said she never pays more than $1 for a box of cereal. Would you say $1.20-1.50 is still a good price? Thanks!

Charlene, do you know if all varieties of Cheerios are included? I am interested specifically in the Cinnamon Burst Cheerios.

I really don’t understand the cereal deals here. Could you explain?

  6. Charlene says

    07/13/2011 at 11:42 PM

    @Sam, it should just be increments of 5. So 10, 15, 20 whatever…

@Sylvia, I think it is just yellow box Cheerios but I am not sure. Maybe someone else will know.

@Sao, it is very simple. If you purchase a total of 5 of the items listed above you get the prices listed above. If you decide instead to buy anywhere from 1 item to 4 items, you need to add $1 onto your purchase price.

Stacy I don’t advise listening to the ladies on that show ;D But on that point they are right, I try to spend $1 or less per box. It actually used to be $.50 was expensive to me for name brand cereal but the prices have really gone up and the coupons have gone down. I would probably get 1 or 2 boxes at $1.50 if I had to but I certainly wouldn’t stock up. I think $1.25 would be OK just because you really aren’t talking a lot of money here and I look at it like- is $.25 worth buying something and being done with it and not thinking about it again for a few weeks 🙂 If you don’t need cereal right now I’d skip this deal.

There’s a coupon at Recyclebank for $.85/2 Nature Valley Granola bars 🙂

I personally thought this was an awesome deal for cereal, as long as you have the coupons. There was the $5/5 any Kellogg cereal that was available last week and I was able to get two of them. The 18oz Frosted Mini Wheats is included in the sale and my boxes had the Cars promo where you submit 4 codes for a $5 gas card. The math looks like this:

    (10) Frosted Mini-Wheats, 1.99
    -(2)5 mfq
= 9.90 out of pocket, submit for (2)$5 gas cards (making 10 cents)

I was able to print two $1/3 kids cereal from the Kellogg’s website and Frosted Mini Wheats is included. I hope to go back today to get six more boxes and I’ll then have enough codes for another two gas cards. This will make the whole deal a very slight money maker and my preschooler VERY happy because now this is his “favorite” cereal, just because of the Cars logo !

I found a $.75/2 Nature Valley Bars here. So with my Just for U pricing of $2.38 less the $1 for buying 5 items and coupon they would be $1 a box

I think that is a great deal too Tiffany even without the gas cards 🙂

There is a $.85/2 Nature Valley Granola Bars coupon at pillsbury.com. Thanks for the matchups!

There is a CAT for $3 WYB 1 cereal and a bag of Seattle’s Best Coffee, but I don’t know whether you can get more than one CAT in a transaction. (SBC is 6.99, so not bad if you need coffee too)

Also, looking at some of the cereals included while I was at the store this morning, there were peelies $1 off produce WYB 2 Kelloggs cereal, and a few boxes had Cars codes for the $5 gas deal.

If you can find these additional promos on the boxes you would basically be getting the cereal free!

Right. The details on the Seattle’s Best can be found here:

The question was whether you could get 5 coffee, 5 cereal and get $15 in CAT back… is that possible? I know they roll to the next deal (usually) at Safeway and still trigger a CAT, but I haven’t tried to get more than one CAT per transaction.

I’m not sure if it was just my store or what but I was a little disappointed-the fruit snacks are 1.49 if you buy 5 not .99-I had already told my kids ahead of time that we would be buying some so I did, but I noticed a few things seems off to me today and was just disappointed with Safeway altogether (surprise, surprise, huh?)

  18. Charlene says

    07/15/2011 at 2:52 PM

Sorry Bree. I said in the post the prices were not listed in the ad and they might have some variation from store to store.

  19. bree says

    07/15/2011 at 2:54 PM

Oh the other thing I noticed was the NV granola bars were 1.99 too not 1.79. Not a huge difference on either but still annoying.

Oh Charlene-no worries! I am not annoyed with you-safeway just really bugs me sometimes! I appreciate all you do!

Speaking of cereal, check the clearance section of your Safeway. Kashi seems to be changing out their packaging, so they are clearancing some of their cereals. They are marked at 1/2 off the original price of $4.69, but some types are on sale so they are ending up at $1.50. Also the Nature Path Granola is coming up as $1 on clearance, though it is marked a little higher. Some Cascadian Farms are on sale, and can be matched with the .75 off printable coupon on Mambo Sprouts.

sheila, I noticed the same clearance, too! I’m happy another MFA reader is scoring on the Kashi, Cascadian Farms, & other natural cereals. I paid $0.29 for Kashi Heart to Heart (clrnce + Recyclebank $2 MQ) paired with the Seattle’s Best Coffee Cat deal.

In that same massive natural cereal clearance I also found lots of organic teas, Bob’s Red Mill baking items, and spices. MQs and Cats work for me on clearanced items.
