Pop Tarts Coupon ($1.33 at Target)

07/20/2011 By Charlene 13 Comments

This post may contain affiliate links, please see my disclosure policy.

There is a new Pop Tarts or Pop Tarts Crisps Coupon available for $1/3. I just saw Poptarts on clearance at Walgreens for $.99 so you might look if you are already planning a trip. (I wouldn’t go just for these as clearance varies tremendously)

Otherwise Target has Poptarts priced at $1.99 through 8/6.  There is a $1/3 Target coupon you can stack to make them $1.33 a box.

I don’t usually buy Poptarts but it seems like that might be a pretty good price.

PS: Starting next week Pop tarts will be $1.79 at CVS.

Hi, Ive seen many bloggers publish “deals” with Target ‘Temporary Price Cuts’ (TPC’s). I work for Target and these TPC’s are set by the store, therefore each and every store will be different. This isn’t a weekly sale, or a sale that is set at every Target. As employees we set this when there is extra back stock or need to get them out of the store quickly. The set time for these are also set by us. I can set them for a single day to 10 days if I would like. These are all very random choices pertaining to that specific Target. When you may be able to find this deal chances are no one else will be able to find this at their own local Target. Just food for thought. Great blog by the way! Love it!

Christine that hasn’t been my experience at all and I post deals for Target constantly.

People are not shy about telling me when they don’t find the same price that I do. I very rarely hear from people that complain their prices are higher than mine. But I do mention constantly on the blog these are simply prices at my store and they are not guaranteed to be found at every single store around the country.

I decided to test this by randomly calling 3 stores in 3 states. All 3 confirmed the price is 1.99 right now. Do you know why that would be the case if Price Cuts are unique to each store? I called a store in WA, in NV and in AZ plus there is still my store in CA where I found this price.

Sorry Charlene. I was simply stating how I know as an TEAM LEAD at Target how OUR ‘TPC promotions’ work. I will double check when I go into work tomorrow. Strange coincidence that all 3 stores are $1.99. I was just explaining what I know to be true.

Christine I am sure there is some accuracy to what you are saying but I post hundreds of these deals each week and usually readers offer corrections when there are errors on the blog. I just have a very hard time believing all the posts I have done on Target for the past 3 years have only applied to my store. I do notice some price differences from the 2 stores I have in my city but not extreme price differences and the price cuts tend to be the exact same.

I post maybe 20 deals from Target each week so that is really a tremendous amount of content that would be completely inaccurate if what you are saying is true. I can’t imagine this wouldn’t have been brought to my attention by now.

It was actually 4 stores that I contacted: Sacramento, Reno, Phoenix and Seattle.

I got a MUCH better deal last week. Poptarts were $1.44 for 8ct. I used $2/3 coupon and $1/3 Target coupon to get them for $.44 per box!!

I think jenn chimed in at the right time. The only single work group that gets “RECOMMENDED” TPC pricing is dry grocery. This is only the case when our distribution center has ‘pushed’ us product because of excess ordering done by them. This means deli, produce, bakery, meat and dairy are all TPC that our chosen by our team members at the store. Even when the recommended TPC pricing is sent to us this means we are allowed to change it however we please. And by the way, my Target here in Florida does not have Pop tarts at $1.99.

Ok Christine thank you for your input. I am surprised that I haven’t had more complaints in all the years I have been posting things considering how much I actually post from Target.

I did call 3 Target stores randomly in Florida and they all have this product for $1.99 right now by the way. Do you know why all 7 stores I called would have the same prices by any chance? I don’t have any more time to call around and check prices but I don’t understand how individual stores determine price cuts yet all of them I call have the same price cut? I called 7 random stores all over the country and each and every one has the exact same price? So it does seem to me like this might be something that many people will actually find.

I answered your questions in the previous reply. Like I said, for dry grocery, we are given recommended TPC pricing for specific items that are pushed to us. Other departments like meat, deli, bakery, produce and dairy, items are picked methodically and priced by us at the store. At the same time we can also cancel and add TPC’s at our discretion. The reason for multiple stores having the same price on TPC would most likely be due to our distribution center having excess and pushing them out to stores. I’m simply stating our protocols for TPC items. You think someone trying to help explain something wouldn’t get such a refusal to try and understand how we set certain items on sale.

I saw Pop Tarts on clearance today at Target for 1.33, I believe it was just starwberry turnovers.

Christine, I appreciate your feedback. I have a feeling you are trying to argue with me so maybe we will just need to let this go. I am going to continue to publish the deals that I find and hopefully everyone is able to find the same prices or similar prices.

So as I said, I am sure you are 100% correct in saying that price cuts are unique to each store. It seems I have been very lucky for the past 3 years in that I can only think of one single deal posted where the majority of people did not find the same price I did. I had 52 comments within two hours of posting that deal letting me know it was incorrect.

You said “When you may be able to find this deal chances are no one else will be able to find this at their own local Target. Just food for thought. ” So I don’t really understand what it is that you are wanting from me? You would like for me to stop posting Target deals that are not in the weekly ad because all the deals I am posting are wrong? Is that what you are asking?

I live in Florida and my Pop-Tarts were $1.99. My niece in Texas also got some that for $1.99. Christine – I think you might work at a renegade Target because 99% of the time my Target Temporary Price cuts here in Florida are the exact same as my niece in Texas and daughter in Colorado. Very few discrepancies. Charlene, please don’t stop posting the unadvertised deals. That’s how I am able to find some of the best stuff!

First things first, I was never trying to start an argument. I think its pretty ridiculous that I come to post a comment, praise your blog and give you a little explination of how TPC’s work and you proceed to get your panties in a bunch. Second, why in the hell would I try to dissuade you from posting advertisements such as this if I read and follow your blog (not for long), and use the deals I find on here. And yes, maybe my High Volume Super Target is so renegade that we are able to choose prices for items to get them off the shelves. I also probably have no idea how Target works, you seem just like all the other customers I deal with on a daily basis that think they know how to do my job better than I do. I thought you were a SAHM?! Don’t bother responding, Im not checking the follow up replies.

Christine, I really think this is necessary. I am sure you are wonderful at your job. I am a stay at home mom but I also have had a blog for the past several years and I also hold a Master’s Degree. So I am not a slow person and I don’t appreciate your remark.

I just reread what you said and it appears the information you originally said that applies to all products on price cut in Target, you amended to say it is only fresh goods.

I would never post fresh item sales because I know those will never be the same for everyone.

I spend a lot of time on the site and I put a lot of care into the things I post and when someone comes along and tells me it is all useless and incorrect information I don’t take well to that. 😉 If you think that is “getting my panties in a bunch” well guilty as charged. I am glad you have been “using my deals” even though the prices don’t match up with your store. There are no hard feelings since you have decided to move on.

Sorry for the misunderstanding and thanks for sharing your opinions.
