This week I wasn’t too excited about any deals really but when Raley’s released a coupon for $15/100 I thought I might be able to use that to help restock proteins in our freezer. Well this trip turned into a bit of a bust and I have to say it took me ages to shop so I was a little annoyed.
Anyway, I was hoping to get some of the produce deals they had this week and I went to a store I don’t normally shop at and really everything looked nasty to me. Even the mangoes on sale were mushy. So here is what I did:
15 Honest Tea- $10 for 15 and I used (10) $1 coupons
Frosting $2.50
Tea Biscuits $1.00
Dole Frozen Fruit $3.00- used free item coupon from a Dole event I went to
Eggland’s Best Organic Eggs $4.49- used $.75 coupon
Cottonelle Wipes $3.49- Used free item coupon
Knudsen Cottage cheese 4pk $3.79- Used Free item coupon
2 Morningstar Veggie items $3.49- Used $1 coupons
Ore Ida Sweet Potato Fries $3.49- Used free item coupon
Raleys bread $1.98
Raleys Chocolate Syrup $1.99 (for homemade iced mochas!)
Frozen Spinach $1.25
Heavy Cream $1.99
Jasmine Rice $2.89
Yobaby Yogurt $2.99- used $1 coupon
Pork Chops $11.09 (these will all go in the freezer)
French Bread $1.88
Dole Bananas $1.75- used $1 off Dole bananas coupon from a Dole event
2 Maries Dressing $2.50- used $1 coupons (these were supposed to be $1.67 so I was overcharged)
Italian Herbs $3.99- this was supposed to be $1.67- I was overcharged
3 Mangoes $1.11
Energizer Batteries $4.99- used free item coupon
2 Laughing Cow cheeses $3.50- used $1/2 coupon
So about $38+ $1 in tax and I have to go back for the extra $4 or so I was overcharged. So not terrible but I am not too excited either.
Sunflower Market $21
6 half gallons of Horizon milk $2.50
Organic Cauliflower $2.49 (not pictured)
1 Cheddar Pull Apart bread $1.99 (we ate this today with lunch and man was it good)
2 Cucumber $.50
Cherries $4.27
I used a $5/25 coupon I got in the mail.
Safeway $6.50
My husband went to Safeway on the way home from work to get the great deal on blueberries and Jennie-O.
Jennie O Ground Turkey $5 for 3lbs
Blueberries 2lbs $5- used $.50 Driscolls coupon and $1/5 Safeway produce coupon
I also had $2 come off my total from being overcharged last week for a Just for U coupon.
So about $61 in total which isn’t that great but I didn’t shop for 2 weeks so I have lots of room in the budget. I still plan to go to Whole Foods at some point so I can stock up on vegetable stock.
I hope your shopping was better than mine this week!

Wow Charlene, so you didn’t get any protein at Raley’s? I just got back from there. I saved 51% and stocked up on protein. I got lots of the split chicken breasts, a big package of groundbeef that I mad into burger patties and stuck in the freezer (I’m ready to start grilling if the weather would just cooperate!), some steaks. I bought 8 of the Metromint waters… Hopefully I like them! Two of the POM lite juices. 3 Marie’s spoonable dressings. 2 Kens dressings… 4 International Delight creamers. Some produce… Oh the bateries… My total was $98 after coupons. I REALLY shouldn’t bring DH shopping with me! I always end up spending more than I want to. Also I didn’t have any free item coupons:-(

Well that was my thought Stephanie but I went to a nasty store and it all was a mess. The creamer was totally gone- I mean not one to be found. The salads were disgusting and I got $.50 POM coupons so I skipped those. I might stop back again tomorrow after the gym with the printable ones. I checked the meat dept and it was all so overpriced… plus I am kind of particular. I don’t want like chub meat- which is the kind of stuff I saw. So I got a huge pack of pork and that was that 🙂 I tried the metromint waters-and those are not to my taste. I was happy with the Honest tea though- love that stuff! I didn’t look at the savings- 57%- but I had a book of stamps in there too that isn’t part of my grocery budget. Oh and overcharged on the Marie’s so I guess it should have been better.

i went to Bel Air and was disgusted to see the lady in front of me committing coupon fraud. She used the $15/100 coupon and a bunch of other coupons but tried to get the Raley’s pizza with the E coupon (wrong variety). The coupon was for a cheese pizza and she went for the Supreme. Makes me mad when people do that because I got stuck in line waiting for her transaction and the cashier patiently explaining that the coupon was for the Cheese Pizza !!! ARGGGGHHHH
Anyway, I got overcharged at Safeway on the Betty Crocker Cake Mix so I know how you feel !! I hate when the cash registers don’t ring up the prices correctly !!
Spotted some deals at Raleys (not sure if you posted these already)
At Raleys the Emerald Breakfast to Go is $2.50 (use $1 coupon); Boulder Creek Chips – $2.50 (use $1 coupon); Almond Breeze Shelf Stable milk is $1.69 (I didn’t have any coupons for this but you might have them)

What’s the deal on the veggie stock? I haven’t gone real grocery shopping in over a month and I hate to wait till I’m desperate. I actually need salt and pepper….which is a never. I’ve been trying to be creative with what I have in my fridge/freezer/and pantry. But I’m down to nothing.
Charlene says
Shelly I just go through a lot of vegetable stock because I make a lot of soups. So I find the cheapest is usually at WF and I tend to buy several at a time. Beef and chicken stock is easy to find on sale but veggie stock seems to be a lot more expensive for some reason.

Sorry to hear you hit a bad store. I love the Lincoln store, it is always clean and the cashiers are friendly. I have the Cottenelle and Sweet Potatoes free item coupons. Hopefully I have better luck with the meat. Thanks for sharing!

Just curious if you freeze all that milk or do you guys go through that much? Or is it the ultra past. kind that lasts forever? We used to go thru milk like crazy w/ the cereal–but we’re doing more oatmeal now and that helps.
Charlene says
Mom- I personally do not freeze milk. The half gallons last longer- these expire in July. We go through about 2 gallons a week. My girls only drink water and milk. So we have about 1/2 a gallon in the fridge- so that is really only 2 weeks worth.

So you used the BREAKSTONES’ FREE COTTAGE CHEESE coupon on KNUDSEN’S?!? Is it the same brand/company? I have the Breakstone’s free item coupon but have NOT been able to find it anywhere!! Did the coupon beep?
Charlene says
Pat- it is the same company but it is called Breakstone’s on the East Coast and Knudsen on the West. Same as Edy’s and Dreyer’s. I think it is fine to do but only because it is the same product and the same company.

My Nob Hill trip went really well. The Scotts Valley store is always super clean and generally well stocked. My total was $106 before coupons, $64 after, for a total savings of 56% or $83 including sale items. I noticed I was overcharged on the Marie’s deal too. I had bought 2 Marie’s dressing and 2 Gourmet Garden herbs. I accidentally bought the large size herb tubes ($4.39). So I returned all 4 items and bought 2 small tubes instead (Moroccan and Mediterranean) and got $7 back. I also forgot to get Santa Cruz lemonade so I got that separately, 3 bottles for $1.80. So just under $60 out of pocket when all was said and done. The mangoes at my store are on the underripe side, which is fine with me. Ive been getting $1 off $8 produce catalinas everytime I go too so I used one and got another one.
