Target: Aveeno Sunscreen Gift Card Update!

If you caught my post previously on the Aveeno sunscreen deal at Target, I just wanted to let you know it appears it was an error and I believe Target is in the process of correcting the problem.

They listed a $5 gift card in the weekly circular when you buy 2 Aveeno sunscreen.  When people actually went into the store, the signage for the promotion was indicating there was a $10 gift card.  Plus the products were prompting a $10 gift card- so this was an amazing deal.

I actually went last night and got the sunscreen with no problems– it was $1.98 per item.

I had to run back to Target today and the exact same store had all new signs up indicating the correct value which is a $5 gift card.

So I am sure it is just a matter of time before all stores have the updated signs posted and the error fixed!

Here is how the deal looks with the $5 gift card:

Buy 2 items starting at $8.99 (listed in the ad as $10 but they are starting at $8.99 in store)
Use $2/1 Recyclebank coupons –this has a single print limit and you can only order 1 per month :(
or Use $1/1 Aveeno Product, exp. 5-15-11 (SS 03/27/11)
or Use $3/2 Aveeno Product, exp. 5-15-11 (SS 03/27/11)
and Use (2) $1/1 Target coupon
Assuming you use the $3/2 manufacturer coupon you pay $12.98 and get a $5 gift card back- so $3.99 each
*If your store only allows one Target coupon per transaction, the total is $4.50 each.

I went to the Fairway Target this morning and the registers were still prompting a 10 dollar gift card. Yippee! Wish I had purchased more. 🙂

It’s was a $5 gift card for me today and they argued with me about the $8.99 item being eligible. There were signs clearly showing the item I bought was part of the sale. The eventually gave me the gift card but said they were taking the sign down.

Did u go to Douglas one? Fairway had $10 this morning. Had to get some since I couldn’t find ours at home and it was a hot day today.

I guess that was too good to be true. At my Target, the only $10 gc signs I saw were for Frederic Fekkai products.

I went to two targets in my area today, one had changed their signs, the other still had the signs for a $10 gc but when they loaded the gc it only prompted $5 at checkout :-(. I wasn’t in the mood to ask for a manager to give me the $10 like the sign said so I just had them taken off my purchase. I wish I had gone last night….

The sign said $10, but I received a $5 gift card. When I told them about the signage, they issued me a credit on the purchase.

My target actually had 2 different signs up by the aveeno items. One said a $5 gift card and the other said a $10 gift card and both signs described the items the same way. I have no idea if some items prompted a $5 and others a $10, I was afraid to try…

Anna- no I think Fairway changed them just tonight. It was working there for sure last night and when I went late this afternoon all the signs were switched.

I went to my store today and the signs were marked for the $5 gift card, so I decided to go ahead and purchase them and see what the register prompted, the $5 or the $10… and the register prompted nothing!!!! I know for a fact they were qualifying items , but since there were 5 people in line behind me.. .and I secretly was hoping for the $10 GC, I just had them take it off my total. So apparently in the process of “fixing” their error, they completely took the GC promotion out of the system at that very moment I was shopping.

Ugh…I am SO bummed! I was headed out the door to do this deal when DD woke up crying. By the time she calmed down and went back to sleep, it was time for DH to go to work, which means I’m stuck for the rest of the day. I am just not ready to be out with 2 little ones. 🙁

Me neither Jessica. It has been 2 years now so maybe I better get it together.

Sorry to hear some of you had issues. I wasn’t sure if I was going to get this deal since I have 2 little kids myself buy now I am 100% sure I don’t even to try.

Bummer- 🙂 and my 17 month old is acting up in stores now. I have couple different snacks ready but today at dollar store she grabbed all the cards that she can reach and dumped it in my cart… So many errands and getting her in and out of the carseat is difficult enough! 🙂

I think part of the issue (besides incorrect signage ;)) was that only certain combos were prompting the $10 gc. First I bought 2 that had the “bonus” teeny tiny sample attached and that would not prompt anything. So I returned those. Then they rang up an aveeno baby and face lotion and I only got a $5. I didn’t even think of that when I was there but they deliberated for a good 15 mins or more and I had my 2 and 4yr old with me so I was ready to leave by then. Others have said they did 2 of the same and seem to have had no problem. I am thinking it was 2 baby?

Too bad because I was hoping to roll it at least once! They did give me $5 off my order and then the $5 gc eventually.

When I was at Target on Monday I got the Aveeno deal, plus I got a great deal on Fekkai shampoo and conditioner. My store had bonus packs that also prompted the $10 gift card, so I got 4 bottles total for $32. That’s about as good as it gets for Fekkai products. So anyone interested might look for those bonus packs.

Thanks, Charlene and Kim. I’m glad I’m not the only one who feels that way about going out with two. All the loading and unloading is not easy. My 2 year old is a ball of energy and it’s hard enough to go out with her. Throw a baby in the mix and it’s sure to make for stressful errand runs. I guess I’ll just have to pay a little more. I really need the Aveeno for our vacation this summer, and it’s still a good deal.

Annoyed! I swung by Target to see if I could get this deal before they change the signage/system. The signs were still up when I grabbed my items. I went straight to check out and the computer prompted the $5 GC. I told her the sign said $10 and she had a mgr come over. The manager was SO rude and acted like it was *my* fault there was an error. She told me they took the signs down (in the two minutes it took me to walk to the register) and the deal was no longer valid. I told her the signs were there when I got my items and she said simply “well they aren’t there when you’re paying so it’s invalid. It was an error anyway”. Ugh.

I went today and the signs said $10 gift card at my Target. It prompted for a $5 gift card at the register, but I told them the sign said $10. They checked and gave me $5 back. I didn’t have 1 of my coupons with me, so I ended up paying $4 total after gift cards. Still an awesome deal!!
