I meant to post about these a few days ago and then I got distracted and well here I am posting on Friday!
So, I noticed on Wednesday I got an email from Safeway telling me about a bunch of great coupons for ice cream. The one that really stood out was $2.00 off Popsicles. My ad has a larger box on sale for $1.99 this weekend only and a smaller box on sale for $1.00 all week. So these should be free if you have the same prices!
They also have $2 off Starbucks ice cream, $2 off Magnum Bars. I think these are $3.00- so they will probably be free with the coupons below.
I also noticed $2.50 off any Degree Deodorant and $3 off any Pond’s item- excluding 15ct wipes.
So if your area has the Just for U program, I would recommend checking those accounts!
Now I know some of you have probably been to the store and back already so let us know how it worked out for you!
Here are some coupons you can take with you:
$1/1 Magnum Ice Cream, exp. 7-30-11 (RP 05/22/11)
$1/1 Starbucks Ice Cream, exp. 6-19-11 (RP 05/22/11)
B1G1 Degree Premium Deodorant or Body Mist, exp. 6-19-11 (RP 05/22/11)
$0.75/1 Degree Anti-Perspirant & Deodorant, exp. 6-19 (RP 05/22/11)
You can see more Safeway coupon deals for the week here. The Just for U program is only available in a few markets right now. If you have not been bombarded with promotions about the program in your store, it is probably not in your city yet.

I got the big box of popsicles (20 count) priced at $2.99, for .99!! The small boxes are sugar free only, I think.
I will go back for the Starbucks ice cream for sure.
I am a little confused about the coupons I loaded to my Safeway card. I read the coupon policy for Safeway and it sounds like I can’t stack a paper manufacturers coupon on top of the online coupons loaded to the card. Is the correct?
Meg- I don’t know if those coupons will work or not. I have not tried it. I believe the coupon policy is referring to the Cellfire manufacturer coupons we used to be able to stack. It seems like those coupons are Safeway ones- it isn’t really clear from the site. I have never seen a manufacturer coupon for $2 off ice cream myself and I can see all the in ad coupons on the page- which are Safeway coupons.
As always, I would just do what makes you feel comfortable!
I am taking a trip to Safeway today. I will try the stacking on a couple of items and let you know how it goes.
Ok great. I thought it didn’t work as of a long time ago but I have had a lot of comments lately with people reminding me to mention paper coupons 😉 So I guess I need to try it as well.
Quick question – in the case of the Magnum bars, my J4U has a coupon I loaded for $2 off and it says “one time coupon” but no limit was posted. Does that mean I can buy more than one and it will take $2 off each item? Thanks.
Nope. One time means one $2 coupon total regardless of how many you buy.
Did not work for me, just paid 1.99 for popsicles, with the 2 off loaded to my card.
Meg, I was confused about it too but a cashier told me you can combine Just4U coupons and manufacturer coupons. Charlene, I don’t know about this week but they’ve had Magnum ice cream for $3.79, which makes it 79 cents. I would never pay $3.79 for the package because it only has 3 bars in it but oh it is so good!
Dana- did you load and wait at least an hour before shopping? It might be 2 hours.
Oksana- thanks. Actually .79 is still a deal because those packs are pretty expensive normally. It is gourmet ice cream so people pay $3 or more per pack. My ad had a bunch of ice cream listed in a lump and said $3 so I was thinking most stuff would be $3. Sometimes a post like this can take over an hour for me to cross reference everything and I just glanced at it today- so go to Safeway if you want but I have no idea at all what the prices will for sure be in store.
I just bought the popsicles for $1.99 and the $2.00 just 4 u coupon didn’t come off. The cashier told me that NO MATCHING ITEM popped up on her screen, the same thing happened to her so she new what I was talking about. She explained the issue to customer service for me and they refunded the $1.99.
I did not get the Just 4 U Magnum coupon 🙁 I would like to try that ice cream. I do plan to buy the Popsicle brand popsicles with $2 off.
Cathy- I don’t know if this helps but when I sorted by frozen foods all I got was the Popsicle. When I just looked through all of them I saw the Starbucks and Magnum…
I was just able to print a coupon to save $.75 on 1 pint Starbucks ice cream.

p.s. thanks charlene. i was able to find the starbucks and magnum deals under J4U scrolling through all the coupons.
I didnt think I had the Magnum coupon either but they stuck it in the “Cookies, Snacks & Candy” category for some odd reason instead of with the Frozen foods. I have been wanting to try them too. 🙂
Oksana- thanks for the help. My cashier didn’t seem to know much. I did complete my Safeway trip and here’s what happened. As a test, I loaded the .99 Oscar Myer Hot Dog coupon (also available in the paper ad, which I also clipped just in case) and the $2 off Starbucks ice cream pint onto my card. The hot dog coupon I loaded didn’t work and I had to resort to using the paper one I clipped from this week’s ad. The ice cream J4U coupon did work and I did use a $1 off paper manufacturer coupon (paid .99). The only 2 things that were a little fishy…. 1. $1 off manufacturer coupon made the “bad” beep when it went through the register, but the cashier clicked it through anyway, 2. The $1 paper coupon is listed at the bottom of my receipt under additional discounts vs. being under the item like it normally would be. So for this trip I seem to have gotten my discount :)!
You guys, I just got back from Safeway and here is what happened. I loaded all my Safeway coupons on the card, got the ice cream and Oscar Meyer hot dogs, and a ton of other stuff. Well, I handed the cashier a stack of coupons and when she was scanning the Magnum coupon, it beeped and she said I can’t use an e-coupon and a paper coupon on one item. I am completely baffled because I had done the Magnum deal a few weeks ago and there was no problem. And another interesting thing is that out of all the coupons I gave her, she gave me back only two (I bought about 15 items that had e-coupons pre-loaded on the card). So I am really confused. Didn’t try to go find out how exactly it works, my 10-month old was trying to get into the eggs. 🙂
The second coupon she gave me was for Boulder Canyon chips. I had a $1/2 e-coupon, and 2 $1/1 coupons. I bought two bags of chips, and she gave me one $1/1 coupon back. It must be one coupons per item but I am still confused because I know for sure I’ve used paper coupons with e-coupons….
I loaded the $2 off Popsicles coupon onto my J4U and printed out my shopping list as proof. Off I went to Safeway & got a 20pk of Popsicles. At checkout, the Popsicles was $1.99 and the $2 didn’t come off. So, I went to Customer Service and showed the girl my Just4U shopping list. She said “But if I took the $2 off, that would make it free.” I shrugged my shoulders and said to her with a smile, “Don’t look at me. Safeway is the one that gave me that coupon.” So, she checked with the manager and they said they’d give back only $1.99 and not $2. Hey, who am I to complain? 🙂
Went to Safeway today, and the Popsicle and Magnum coupons worked fine for me. The Kingsford Safeway coupon ($2) was the only one that didn’t so I’ll be back to collect on that since it’s printed on my Just for U list. Just wanted to let everyone know to stop by your store’s discount rack if you have one. I got Seattle’s Best coffee (12 oz. bags) 1/2 off ($4.40 instead of $8.79) and then used the $2 printable coupon. So I got 2 bags for $2.40 each 🙂
I loaded the popsicle coupon onto my care but when I tried to buy them today it only would take $0.99 off instead of the $2.00.
If anyone else has any problems with this specific coupon or any future ones, you simply call the 800 number for Safeway or go to customer service or tell your cashier at checkout. They can correct the problem for you immediately.
On Saturday, I did what Sylvia did. I printed my J4U list and brought it to the store. I only bought 1 item Popsicles for $1.99 and J4U was not on the screen. I showed her the printout and she deducted 1.99 at the cash register and I did not have to pay anything 🙂
The cashier expained that the Safeway savings on the popsicles (that are on sale for $1.99) is more than the Just for U savings of $2. So you gon’t get the $2 off. The BEST DEAL is what NICOLE noted above. Buy an item that is JUST ON SALE—NOT with Safeway card savings for 2.99 and after the JFU it will be .99.
Also I was able to go to customer service and get $2 back when it didn’t go off with my JFU savings!
I just signed up for J$U and I got a coupon for free lucerne eggs. It says it is a one-time coupon. I don’t see any where that there is a limit to how many packages of eggs I can get. Can someone help confirm this?
Jennifer you get 1 dozen eggs free one time only.
