Safeway Coupon Deals 5/11-5/17

05/10/2011 By Charlene 29 Comments

This post may contain affiliate links, please see my disclosure policy.

You can see Safeway’s coupon policy right here. Most stores will allow you to stack a manufacturer coupon with the store coupons that can be found in the weekly circulars. You will want to be sure to get a club card for Safeway to take advantage of the sale prices! Safeway sale prices tend to vary from region to region so you will always want to double check your local ad! Also, I do not have double coupons in my area so your prices are likely much better than mine!

Be sure to read about the new Just for U program rolling out at Safeway!

Does anyone know if the buy 4 save 4 applies to my just for you prices or is it regular price. For example hunny cheerios arer $2.30, so if I buy 4 would that make them $1.30 or is te save 4 on regular price. Thanks for any clarification

    05/10/2011 at 8:35 PM

Krista, I would think it would be $1.30 🙂 The price will be your personal price and then you should see a flat $4 that comes off.

I would be skeptical of the $1.30 price. I did the B1G2 free strawberry deal the other week and they would not give me my personal price of $2.49 a pound. They said you get the best of the deals, one or the other, not both. I explained this was not how it worked before with the B1G1 cheese but the lady at customer service told me I was wrong and she called the customer service number. They told me they would give me the price this one time. But in the future it won’t work that way anymore. So maybe you will get lucky, but maybe not.
I am seriously tired of JFU and having to go to customer service for 15 minutes every trip to safeway.

Amanda- I think the issue is when a brand is not specified. I think that was the problem with the berries. Although you are right- I notice Safeway has not rolled the program out in any new markets and it was supposed to be nationwide.

Are the Kellogg’s Frosted Mini Wheats A Touch of Fruit included in the Buy 4 Save 4 promo? I just received my coupons from Vocalpoint!!!

  8. Charlene says

    05/10/2011 at 9:50 PM

Amanda- according to Safeway.com it is included. I am going to try and stop in tomorrow and check.

  9. Lori says

Gee, surprised me! In Maryland, our 4-day sale includes fresh boneless skinless chicken breast at $1.49/pound. Time to stock up! (Sadly, we do not have the $0.39 broccoli, but I won’t cry about it too long!) Oh, and we have strawberries at $5/4-pounds, limit 2, Friday only! These are the Driscoll brand, and there are coupons out there for $0.50, which double at my store, so cheap strawberries! (And do I remember seeing a $1/$5 coupon for produce?)

  10. Charlene says

    05/10/2011 at 10:11 PM

Yeah Lori that will be a great deal for you:

Has anyone had trouble using more than one internet coupon? Last time I went they would only let me use one coupon for two boxes of cereal, they said it was a new policy that we couldn’t use two of the same coupon.

Here are some Just For U deals in my area: Lucerne Shredded Cheese, $1.28, limit 2; iceberg lettuce $.88, Mission Soft Taco tortillas, $.88, Jennie O ground turkey, 20 oz., $2.88, Safeway frozen veggies, $.99

The chashier trying to explain to me the other day that they all just signed some form saying they would only approve 1 coupon per item. I think he was trying to say you get the safeway in ad OR a MQ but not both. But that defies their coupon policy? So I think I need to go read it again and see if they changed it. Love to know if anyone else knows what’s happening. TIA!

  15. shira says

    05/11/2011 at 10:18 AM

This is the one that confuses me:
    23. If a customer presents two coupons for the same item in a single transaction, Safeway will give the highest discount for that item, subject to the terms of the applicable offer and/or coupon.

Does that mean I can’t use the safeway in ad coupon AND an MQ?

Here’s the SF coupon policy site: http://www.safeway.com/ifl/grocery/coupons-policy

  16. Ashley says

    05/11/2011 at 1:07 PM

Shira- I believe that it applies to the MQ that you can load to your card being stacked with a paper MQ. They don’t allow that at my store anymore, but I haven’t had any issues using an in ad Q with a MQ, and that is at 3 different safeway stores in my area.

Just did an awesome shop at Safeway this afternoon..and to answer an earlier question, the Mini Wheats touch of fruit are included..they are $2.19 after you save $1 from the Buy 4 Save $4 sale. I used $1 off coupons which made them $1.19 each. Also got the huge Pine Sols for 0.49 ea, Sobe’s for 0.49 ea, Poptarts for 0.67 a box! Along with a great deal on Tri Tip, shredded cheese, salsa, and Tropicana OJ (normally $4.29 ea) for $1.32 ea. Great deals this week!

Brieanna… how did you get thte poptarts for .67 a box? Is there a coupon or was that the price in your store? I would love to pick some up?

  20. Charlene says

    05/11/2011 at 9:39 PM

Genese- she did what I mentioned in the post. Her Just for U price is probably $1.67 and she got $4 off when she bought 4.

  21. Brieanna says

    05/12/2011 at 5:10 AM

    Genese,
yes, I did what Charlene said. My Just for U price on poptarts is $1.67 and when I bought 4, I got $4 off, making them $0.67 each. Amazing deal!

  22. Tiffany T says

    05/12/2011 at 2:28 PM

Hey Charlene, I’ve got a possible deal people could do. I confirmed that Raisin Bran is $1.79 each when you buy four at my store last night. Then with the $0.70/1 coupon they become $1.09/box like you said above. However, many boxes at my store had $1 off fresh produce coupon (didn’t see that you had to spend a certain amount on produce) when you buy 2 boxes of Raisin Bran. Since that produce coupon is produced by Kellogg’s it could then be stacked with the $1/5 Safeway produce coupon.

I have printed and used all my Raisin Bran coupons or I would try it myself, but I think it should work out!!!

Buy 4 boxes Raisin Bran $1.79
    Buy $5 in produce
Use (4) $0.70 Raisin Bran coupons
Use (2) $1 off produce coupons from cereal box
Use (1) $1/5 Safeway produce coupon
Final Price: $6.36 for 4 boxes of cereal and $5 in produce

Hopefully, my math is right and everything else, because this sounds like a fabulous deal to me!

  23. Charlene says

    05/12/2011 at 2:35 PM

Tiffany- that one will depend because those produce coupons always attach to the cereal 🙁 So they beep. BUT there is a good chance a cashier would push it through because technically you should be able to use them all. If anyone tries it come back and tell us how it goes 🙂

  24. kay says

    05/12/2011 at 6:49 PM

the ad doesn;t show 40%off hormel items.

  25. Charlene says

    05/12/2011 at 6:57 PM

Kay- your ad might be different from mine. They do tend to have differences on meat and produce from city to city.

  26. Kim says

    05/13/2011 at 1:35 PM

I went to Safeway yesterday and they had a sign that said get a 1 L sobe when you buy five 20 oz. So I bought ten 20oz and got two 1L’s for free. Of course I used by 1.50 off of 5 q 🙂

On another note: They had the International delights Coffee house inspirations creamer (which I prefer because they don’t have hydrogenated oil in it) 50% off the 16 oz size of white choc and hazelnut so they were $1.19 and they had -.55 peelies on them, so .64 total.

  27. Shira says

    05/13/2011 at 8:30 PM

Kim- my store had the breve for $1.19 too! I doubled it and 2 for $.14 each. No peelies on ours though, I had some from the vocalpoint mailer.

Anyone else notice the new receipt layout?! So great now. Super readable.

  28. Catherine says

I had the hang tags from the Classico Pasta sauce buy 2 white get 1 red free.

So I bought 4 white and 2 red and got 4 free boxes of Safeway pasta & used the 2 coupons above. Didn’t want to jinx it trying to get 2 extra free boxes of pasta because the 2 red sauces were free. That was my deal o the day yesterday at Safeway. Thanks !!!!!!!!!!!

I’m going to see if the Sobe deal works tomorrow here in Sacramento.

  29. Catherine says

    05/15/2011 at 8:00 PM

ok in Sacramento area, you don’t get the free liter sobe when you buy 5 but heck whatta deal !! I love SOBE and they are .79 each at Safeway plus coupon so great deal – i got ten for $7.90 (used 2 coupons – $3.00) so $4.90 plus CRV.

Also the Lay’s Kettle chips were $1.99 each and I used the Pepisco Moments coupon ($2 off 2 chips)

Great deals this week on Stuff I love (brocolli – 39 cents a pound)

    Thanks Safeway !!
