Well I was excited for the sunscreen deal at CVS this week and just wanted to update you with what I found.
Sadly, the cheapest sunscreen at my store was the sticks at $9.29. Β They had regular sunscreen for $10.
Buy 2 Sunscreen at $10.00
Use (2) $2/1 printable coupons
Pay $16.00 and get a $10 ECB back
So $3 each which is a good deal. This week, there is a $3 off $10 healthcare purchase coupon printing at the coupon scanner. There is a good chance you can use the healthcare items coupon on your sunscreen purchase, which makes the final price $1.50 each. Β That is an excellent price.
See the complete list of CVS deals for the week here.

I received a $3 off $15 suncare purchase from the kiosk yesterday. π I also found one stick sunscreen for $8.49 and the next cheapest was $9.99. So I got two for $1.50 — or $0.75 each. I also had a $1 ECB print for using my green bag tag!!! Yay. Thank you for this blog.
Hi Charlene – I think there may be a math error. $20 – 2 ($2) off coupons is $16 and $10 ECB back. So it is still a good deal to get them for $3 each. Thanks for everything you do!
I was also disappointed yesterday with the high prices on the Neutrogena sunscreen. The cheapest I found (In Tallahassee) was $8.79 for the sticks with SPF 30. I was able to use the 3 off 10 healthcare purchase coupon from the red coupon machine and 2 – $2 mnf coupons. Not too bad of a deal, but not as great as I had hoped for…by the way, I LOVE your site and check it at least 5 times a day religiously!! Thanks for all of your hard work to help us save money!!
Actually, its cheaper. If you use 2 $2 off coupons, the total is $16, not $18- making them $3 a piece. If we’re able to use the healthcare coupon, they will be $1.50 each- a great price!
I was told the sunscreen doesn’t qualify as a healthcare item π
The cheapest I found was 8.29 for the 30spf sticks. I was able to use the healthcare CRT for a slight MM after ecb.
My CVS manager said the sunblock didn’t qualify for the healthcare coupon.
I went in yesterday and got the $3/$10 healthcare print off…and I asked the cashier if I could use it..and she said “I dunno…let’s try!” and it went through! π Made for an even better deal and I had sticker shock of the prices of the sunscreen. But I got my baby girls sunscreen….hoping the higher dollar price = higher protection then the generic stuff? lol!
Your math is a little off. ;o)
Dangit. I have to quit posting late at night. Can’t think straight π
It was SO SAD to see the high prices on the sunscreen! I have a friend who went and priced them the week before and there were some that were $7.99…so I think they price-hiked them before the sale. π
Anyway, my CVS took the $3 of $10 coupon. It depends on your CVS, so if your CVS won’t do it, just go to a different one and you might have better luck! I had an old ECB, so I got the sunscreens for .81 TOTAL! Thank goodness for ECB!!! π
I used the $3/10 skin care Q from last week. I also had some ECB’s from the Candy deal. I scored major this week at CVS! π
oopsie, I meant $3/15 skinscare Q.
Same high price sunscreen in So Cal. The sticks were the only products that didn’t have the deal marked on them, I took them to the register and they worked anyway. Also I did the Scott paper towel deal first and at the end of my receipt was a $5 off $15 purchase coupon off anything so I used that for the suncreen.
I find great variability within one store with regards to who takes the $3/10 coupons. One gal will take an ultra-strict interpretation of the rules, another will take a liberal interpretation… It is such a grey area.
I was really bummed to notice that the sunscreens were also half the size of, say, Coppertone or Banana Boat. I particularly remember getting Coppertone at $3-4/bottle with the sales last year at RIte Aid. With four kids, and an outside job, we go through lots of sunscreen around here!
I was disappointed too cause $9.79 was the cheapest item at my cvs that qualified for the $10 ecb. Luckily I had some ecbs from last week and did get them cheaper with that. I didnt even try to use the $3 healthcare coupon, I didnt even think to try! Darn it!
You know- I only remember buying sunscreen at Target because it was on clearance last year and finally getting a deal. I saw sunscreen on clearance already yesterday. They had the bluey silver bottles of Neutrogena and then the baby items I mentioned before- Episential or whatever.
I bought 2 sunless tanning lotions @ $11.49 each. I used 2($2) and the $3 healthcare coupon and it all worked. The register printed my $10 ECB so I paid $3 each which I was content with this. There was also no sale tag under the lotion, just regular price so I wasn’t sure that this was going to work, but it did!
Hubby went for me. He got 2 3oz twin packs for $15.99 each (sigh), did manage to get the $3 off $10 CVS coupon + the 2 $2 Neutrogena coupons. I go through a lot of sunscreen gardening and going to the beach, so I will use it all. So, per ounce, that is still a pretty good deal.
I don’t know who will be happier when my broken leg is healed enough for me to drive again – me or my husband! π
At least in New England, we have Ocean State Job Lot and Christmas Tree Shop. They usually have great prices on sunscreen. OSJL takes coupons, too. My daughter got Aveeno sunscreen for me when she was home to visit for $2.00 (sale + coupon).
Found some Neutrogena for 8.79 and then splurged on the “all natural sunscreen ingredients” one for 12.49. Used the 2 (2.00) qs plus the 3/15 healthcare coupon and 7.99 in ecbs and paid 7 something and got the 10 ecbs back. Used those ecbs to do the Huggies deal where I ended up paying 9 bucks for box of Huggies and a big wipes refill (I had 2(2.00) CVS qs for Huggies diapers and wipes that I got in the mail a while back) , got back 5 ecbs, so it was a great day for me!
Aw man, I also didn’t think to try the $3/$10 coupon. Does anyone know what happens if I go back and return and rebuy? Will I still be able to get the $10 ECB, or will it count as already used for my ExtraCare account?
Also, the cheapest sunblock at my store was $10.99 π But considering this is the brand I buy for face sunblock anyways, it’s a terrific deal since I paid practically full price last time.
I took my reciept to my local CVS to ask about applying the healthcare coupon to my order since the CVS I went to last night said it didn’t qualify. The manager didn’t want to do it but I sweetly argued that sunscreen is a healthcare item after all. His position was that the coupon is intended for the pills because it excludes that medication with begins with a “p” but I countered that it would work with items like Bengay, antifungals and such which imo sunscreen is a cream that has ingredients that prevent a skin ailment. Sunburns! In the end he relented but I wish they would stop releasing these vague worded coupons.
I had no problem whatsoever at my store when I tried to use the $3 healthcare coupon w/the Neutrogena sunscreen. However at my store they were priced high; I got the baby stick for $11.99 and the sports sunscreen for 10.99. I also used the 2 $2 coupons, and a $1 ECB from the green tag. So in the end I am paying $8 for both, which is still a pretty good deal this sunscreen.
That $3/$10 last week printed every other day-after the previous one expired.
So I only bought one over $10, used the $2MQ and the 3/10 healthcare and will scan card later in the week hoping for another 3/10
30 and 45spf spray were 11.49 in my store (san jose)
11.49 – 2mq -3/10healthcare=$6.49
done twice =$12.98
get $10
$2.98 for 2 spray (our preference to stick)
and if 3/10 doesn’t print again, no difference from buying 2 in one transaction:)
Paid $6.77 for 2 sunscreen. $10.49 for the baby stick & $13.79 for the 110 SPF. I used (2) $2 manufacturer coupon, $3/10 from the kiosk, & I redeemed my free John Freida haircolor (from FB giveaway a few weeks ago) which gave me an Extra bucks of $2. Can’t find cheapest, still $6.77 is pretty good price for 2 sunscreen.
I ended up with not a very good deal after the cashier told me they were “cracking down” on people using multipls of the same coupon and woulnd’t let me use 2 of the $2 off coupons. I should have just bought them in 2 separate transactions but I forgot that it would work that way. I should have stood up for myself more but does anyone know if this is a store by store policy?
Cracking down on you using TWO coupons? That is silly. Yes you can do two transactions and wait for that stinker to go on a break :p
Actually I hear about all stores coming down on couponers now that Extreme Couponing is on.
I got a killer deal on the sunscreen today!
I bought: (2) 5oz sprays @ $11.49 each
1 CVS makeup remover wipes (travel) @ $1.50
used: (2) $2 Neutrogena coupons
$3/10 healthcare
25% off coupon from email
$1.50 CVS makeup wipes (from scanner)
$10 ECBs
total OOP $2.27! which $1.35 was tax
and received $10 ECB Yay!
If anyone else got the 25% off non-sale items coupon from email this makes the sunscreen deal much better. The sunscreen wasn’t actually on sale. I paid $12.18 and got $10 ECB back.
My store allowed the $3 off healthcare coupon but would not let me use 2 of the $2 coupons. Still not a bad deal since the spray sunscreens were $10.99 before discounts but I was surprised at how picky they were with the other ones.
My store allowed the $3 off healthcare coupon and I also had the 25% coupon… I didn’t realize it was only for non sale items! That explains why it only took $5 something off my $70some trip! Now I feel bad because the clerk didn’t notice that either and he overrode it and gave me the 25% off all of it…
follow up: I did indeed get 2nd 3/10healthcare on Wednesday
Oh man, I was planning to use the 25% off email coupon. I haven’t been to CVS for a LONG time:-( My CVS employees are stinkers. Last summer they wouldn’t let me get the free Sobe water, made me so mad! I want to go to get some cheap sunscreen or self tanner… We’ll see. Maybe I should go to Roseville…
I was able to use all my coupons! 25% off my purchase, $3 off and 2 $2 off coupons. Now I have $10 ECB and I got the $3 off grocery coupon so I might go back tomorrow for some grocery stuff.
