CVS: Free Green Bag Tags!

Apparently the CVS coupon machine is printing out coupons for a free Green Bag Tag this week.  You are not guaranteed to get this coupon but just keep scanning your card until it says no more coupons and hopefully you get lucky.

These are priced at $.99 each and if you shop at CVS they are a must have.  Basically when you bring a tote bag in to shop you get paid .25 in ECBs- so it is by far the most generous of all the bag rewards I have seen.

You can read a little more about the CVS Green Bag tags here.

(Thanks Birch Creek Mom!)

It’s true! I went today and bought 4 12pks of Diet Coke for $10 and since I had the $3 off $15 grocery purchase I got some overpriced cheese that I had forgotten to get at the grocery store and the Trident gum that was essentially free and the Green Bag Tag. I paid just under $6 OOP, I had $10 ECB from the neutrogena sunscreen deal and I got $1 ECB back. Yay!

So…I already have a green bag tag. Do you think they would attach more than one to my CVS card if I bring 2 bags?

one per visit or day i think sarah.

and also i got a $2 off baby items excluding formula of $10 purchase!

i’m interested to know if anyone else is able to use more then one bag tag per trip. Last time i went i brought two bags with two bag tags and they would only scan one tag….i thought that was weird

The CVS I shop at never has green bag tags in stock. I tweeted CVS about it and they answered that I can buy it online. I haven’t gotten around to doing that.

Anyway, talking about generous bag rewards, one of the most generous is at the Orowheat outlet here in Sac. Whenever I use a reusable bag when I shop there, I get $5 worth stamped on my loyalty punch card, which easily helps to fill up the card after just a few visits. When that fills up, I get to pick two items for free!

Sylvia – Thank you so much for your comment. I didn’t know the outlet store was there. I was just contemplating a trip to Costco, but I swear the Orowheat bread there has shrunk over the last six months! I need to stock my freezer, and now I know where I will go.

You’re welcome, Nicole! I used to get my loaves at Costco too, but not since I discovered the bread outlet. Can’t beat $1.99!

CVS Green Bag Tag is fabulous — yesterday my receipt said I reached 100 bag tag scans, which translates into $25 of free ECBs to spend from CVS so far. Each time the tag is scanned, I’m thinking “25 cents in the bank”. Good for the environment, good for me.

I threaded my Bag Tag & ExtraCare Card together, keep them in my purse so I don’t forget. I have a variety of cloth bags so I grab what’s handy in the car and go CVS-ing.

I have several tags from various deals like this
one lost it’s green band so keep in my wallet
in case my dedicated CVS bag is full (has tag always on it)
Tags are kind of cute and can be used to decorate a gift – reusable “bow”

The barcode on each is identical so it doesn’t matter if you use one tag on 2 cards
but only registers a max of one per card per day – no matter how many times or tags a cashier scans .

There’s an in-store coupon ($5 off $25 purchase) e-mailed yesterday by CVS. Good until 5/30 (Mon).
