Target: Organic Deals & Shopping List

I decided since it is Earth Month this month to try and do a round of up of Organic deals from both Target and Walmart stores.  This week I will feature deals I found at Target and next week will be Walmart.  I know many of us are doing our best to switch over to as many all natural, organic and green products as possible these days.  Hopefully by supporting these products at large chains like Target and Walmart, they will continue to add more options to the shelves and the prices will become lower and lower.

As you all know, I am a big fan of Target stores but I have to say the overall selection of organic products is shameful.  I have noticed signicantly more options at Walmart- so hopefully next week you see a much larger list to choose from.

Has anyone gotten their gardening kits from Annie’s yet? I don’t remember how long it has been since I requested mine, but it seems like it has been a while. My girlies are wanting to plant seeds and I am hoping the kit comes soon.

I completely agree Charlene! Walmart has bigger selection of organics products and they tend to be more reasonably priced. Its awesome that you’re doing this because now we can focus on store specific lists for items that are a little bit better for us and the environment. Love it!!!

This is great! Target actually has more organic/natural items than I thought. Still not wonderful, but a good starting point.

Michelle – I ordered mine quite awhile ago too and haven’t received it either.

For some reason, when I try to print any Target or Smart Source coupons, they will not print. I have a MAC and have enabled my printer to allow prints from these sites, but they still won’t print. Anyone else have this problem, or know how to fix it?? There are so many coupons that I’d like to have from these places.
It’s so refreshing to see so many organic deals! Thank you!!

The theme of my blog this whole week has actually been about living organic and natural on a frugal budget. It’s great to see someone else doing the same thing!

Megan I have a Mac and I can print from them. Is there a contact for somewhere for Smart Source? Or try couponnetwork.com too because those are the same as the Target coupons and maybe you can find a contact on there.

I have actually had that problem in the past. Make sure that your printer is set as the default printer. One of the times that fixed it for me. The second time I was unable to resolve it for about a month, and all of a sudden it began working again. Good luck!

Depends upon your store locations. In NE Ohio, Walmart has a horrible “green” or organic selection and Target has a larger one.

This is great! Never knew Walmart has better selection. For some reason, I never shop there. Because of everything being big, makes me claustrophobic. Anyways, I will hit Target tonight with your list. Thanks a lot!

I also have a Mac and when I try to print smart source coupons, I get a prompt telling me to use Safari web browser on a Mac to print. Safari is standard on my Mac but I usually use Firefox. When I switch to Safari, I can print smart source coupons with no problem. Other coupons print via Firefox with no problem. It is only Smart source that requires Safari. I hope this helps.

I know it’s not a Target deal, but Grocery Outlet has half-gallon Horizon Fat Free milk w/DHA for 1.99 each. I’ve been buying my milk there lately… they don’t accept coupons, but that’s a deal that I can’t find anywhere, sales and coupons included!

  14. Charlene says

    04/06/2011 at 12:45 PM

That is a great price Tiffany. I will look into that. It would be $3.98 for a gallon and I pay $2.99 right now. For $1 more to get organic is a great deal but how quickly do they expire?

Oh my gosh, this is great. I would LOVE it if you did a weekly organic deals post!!

The expiration dates are usually 1-2 weeks out, depending. I buy 3 half gallons at a time and we usually drink them before we’re close to expiration (I have a 3 1/2 yr old and 21 mo old). I’ve only gone past the date on a couple occasions and never noticed a difference in smell or taste. I think that’s one plus for organic milk though – no matter the brand or size, it always seem to last longer.

I’ve been slowly easing into Grocery Outlet… there is something “off” about the place, lol, but I don’t think they get “old” food, but rather overstock of food on a limited selection. Brand names are everywhere, including Foster Farm whole chickens! I’ve purchased their cheese before and it’s always been excelled quality. For example, President Brie Cheese log for $1.49! Goat gouda for $3.50 (which you MUST try, it is MOST EXCELLENT… hard cheese with nutty flavor yet soft and melty in the mouth… oh man, add some water crackers and a glass of vino and you’re set!) Definitely not the place to do ALL of your shopping (couldn’t find honey or shredded coconut) and not all of their prices are super great (canister of Quaker oatmeal was $4.49), but doesn’t hurt to check out once a week or so (or when I get milk, lol). They had a bag of key limes for $1.99, which is $1 less than what Safeway sells them for and I believe it’s the same brand. I also found Organic baby carrots for $.75/lb, 3lb bag gala apples for $1.99 (running $2.99 at larger stores), RiceWorks chips for $.99. They also don’t have weekly ads, but their prices don’t change much, which is nice sometimes to not have to mess with sales or printers. 🙂

I have to disagree with you about the organic selection, at least in my area. I live in the high dessert in Southern California and around here our Super Target has the best selection of organic in the area. Vons has quite a bit of stuff, but is overpriced, so I am very happy with our Target.

I have newly switched over to using a Mac and I have tried several times to get coupons.com to print coupons for me and it just won’t work. They worked just fine on my PC. I have tried in Safari and Firefox, installed and uninstalled the coupon app several times, restarted computer, no luck. Any hints? It goes through the whole install process and asks for my install password and everything. I have given up on them for the past few months, but would love to start saving with them again.

    Thanks.

Oh Deborah- my FIL lives in Indio and you are totally right. His Target is a little piece of heaven to me. My friend that does Organic Deals blog lives in So CA and she says it is the same- Walmart stinks and Target is great. Funny they are so different.
