Shopping Trip

Here is the shopping for this week- I just did a few quick trips whilst I was out running errands.  I am saving a bigger Safeway trip for Tuesday when they have a great deal on Ghirardelli.

CVS: $9

Ok just to reinforce the fact that I have one foot already in the looney bin- I tried to pay with +Ups for my CVS shopping. I had plenty of ECBs to pay for this trip and somehow I went to planet busy mama and left the ECBs in the car and grabbed the +Ups by mistake. Embarrassing and now my beloved CVS knows that I cheat on them.

Foil $3.00
6 Honest tea at $1.00- used (4) $1/1 coupons from Recyclebank and got $2 in ECB back= free
Bubbles $1.29- raincheck from earlier in the week- got $1.29 in ECB
2 Aquafresh toothpaste $1 each- used $1 coupons= Free
2 Aquafresh Toothbrush $1 each- used $1 coupons= Free
Edge Shave Gel $3.29- tried to use a .55 coupon and it wouldn’t go through- got $2.30 ECB= .99
GE lightbulb (not pictured) $2.99- got $2 ECB
Used $4/20 CVS coupon from email
Paid about $9 with tax and got back $7.59 in ECB

Sprouts $12.49

2 Silk Soymilk $2.50- used $2/1 coupons= .50 each
2 Popchips $1.50 each
Organic Cherry Tomatoes $2.50
3 pints Blueberries .99 each
3.5 lbs organic apples $2.99

Target $8.40

Organic Eggs $3.44
Regular eggs (for easter egg hunt) $1.19- used $.55/2 coupon
Scissors $1.99- used $1 coupon=.99
2 first aid kits .97- used $1.50/2 coupon= .44
halls cough drops $1.19- used $.50 and .75 coupon= free
Playtex toddler silverware .93
Foil .99- used .50/1 coupon= .49
Seventh Generation Spray $2.49- used $1 coupon and $1 target coupon= .49
Carefree .99- used $.01 coupon= .01
cake mix $.97

So not too exciting for $30.  I have several $3 Nivea coupons but we simply don’t need body wash.  I have several left from the last $3 coupon.  I have a friend that is unemployed so I will be passing my coupons on to her.  The shelves were pretty cleaned out on Carefree so I just grabbed one this trip.  I will get a few more packs the next time I shop and hopefully a few more toothbrushes from CVS.  I just asked for a raincheck since there were only a handful available at my store.

My edge coupon wouldn’t go through at CVS either, booo!

I was just thrilled with all the wonderful fruits and veggies at Sprouts this week at great prices!

My coupon wouldn’t go either, but the cashier had the manager come over and override it. She had to do a .50 credit and a .05 credit. The weirdest thing was that the register would not accept my ECB’s. I paid for my stuff and then the cashier gave me cash for them. The poor guy in line behind me, I’m sure he thought I was crazy!!

I did the reverse at RiteAid! Chatting with my favorite cashier, watching the screen, pulled out a bunch of ECBs, handed them to her…luckily, i also had my +UPs (she knows I cheat on RiteAid with CVS. She also knows of my disdain for Walgreens)

Me three, the cashier had to call the manager and she gave me cash back after I paid oop. I guess I got lucky.

I have a question on the $4/20 CVS coupon from email, I thought you couldn’t use it with the mfr coupons?

I had the $5/15 coupon email that expired today, I should have brought it with me and asked if I could use it.

AJ you can use that with other CVS coupons and with MQs! For sure-CVS is awesome.

Yup Brenda. I am having a hard time because the prices are so good but we are trying to go Organic- especially for the really bad ones like strawberries. Sprouts is seriously tempting me away from this organic with how cheap the produce is!

I wanted to let you know that your last two stories about CVS have been encouraging to me. I have been couponing for almost 6 months now and feel like a complete idiot most of the time. Last Sunday, I had my binder full of coupons with me at CVS, minus the ones I had pulled out to double-check before I left for the store )c; I got all the way to the checkout and realized they were at home, so I ended up spending way more than I planned to. This Sunday I had to ask for help finding half of the items on my list. Then I realized I left my ExtraCareBucks in the car, so I had to leave my cart and walk past the guy who had just help me find everything, then came back in and checked out. Maybe he wasn’t, but it felt like he was looking at me like I was a freak. So I thank you for sharing the details of your stories as they make me feel that I’m not alone (c; I LOVE your blog!

I wouldn’t have wanted to be in line behind me at CVS yesterday – what a mess!! They only had one line open when i got into it… and because of the Edge coupon not going thru, then the register beeping over EVERY SINGLE ECB, the line ended up about 8 people deep… FINALLY they opened a new register, but I felt bad for the lady who was buying 1 greeting card!!

Anyway… my Edge coupon simply would not go thru, so they price modified the product & reduced it by .55 cents. Then the register beeped on every single ECB. I finally told the manager with the override card to not leave until I was done! LOL

Oh poor Sarah, It is so hard to keep it all together. I guarantee I have more whoopsies than you think and I am a crusty old pro at this! I don’t keep a binder for that exact reason. It would be left behind on trip #1 and all that work would be down the drain.

Charlene, you’re being a good role model with the $3 Nivea Body Wash coupon. I love how you decided you didn’t need any more body wash, you resisted the urge to stockpile just cause it’s cheap, AND you donated your coupon to a friend in need. I’m trying to follow your example…{the t.v. show about extreme couponing scared me w/the huge stockpiles.} Thanks for teaching us your sane approach.

Endcapps- I am not always a good role model but thanks. I set limits on how much I acquire because I can’t stand to have stuff everywhere. We still have stuff everywhere though- it is terrible. I watched 10 minutes of Hoarders after that last episode of Extreme Couponing and now I am ready to throw everything away 😛 I checked and I currently have TWELVE body wash and my husband has 4. That is just insane. More than a year’s worth of product and I donated maybe 3 or 4 bags of toiletries not too long ago. No more body wash unless it is a new product I can’t wait to try 😉 Then something I have has to go to donation to make room.

My coupon for Skintimate(same company as Edge gel) didn’t work at CVS a few weeks ago, and they just gave it back to me and said sorry. I didn’t know that they would honor it even if it wouldn’t go through.

How did you get the .93 cent playtex silverware at target?

  17. Charlene says

    04/18/2011 at 8:17 PM

Dash- I thought that was a great price for those! I just bought them at .93. No coupons. The regular price was $1.06 so not a huge discount but they are sturdy pieces so totally worth a buck.
