Here is actually 2 little trips I did to Safeway this week.  They decided to have these daily specials so fortunately I was able to stop in two days in a row:

Thursday:

8lb bag oranges $1.99- used $1/1 safeway coupon= $.99
4 bags Kraft Touch of Philly Cheese- Buy One Get One Free- Used $1.90 Just 4 U personal price and used $1/1 coupon= $.45 per bag
2 packages sliced Kraft Cheese $3.99- Buy One Get One Free- Used (2) $1/1 Kraft cheese coupons from the catalina machine on prior shopping trips= $.99 each

Paid $4.98

Friday:

2 Blocks Tillamook Cheese $5 each
Actually my husband did this one and if I had time I would have gone back for 2 more. Great price!

So the grand total was $14.98 which I think is a great deal and now we are stocked up on cheese.

See the Safeway coupon deals for the week here.

Hello Charlene! Thanks for all you do.

I am confused! I thought it was safeway’s new policy to not accept a coupon on the store bogo’s? I dont have the great J4U price on cheese and the coupon for the $1/1 is no longer there so I won’t be getting this deal anyway but would like to know for future reference.

    Thanks!

I have 4 coupons for the Kraft Moz Cheese, but my walmart didn’t have it. I’ll lool at Target this week and Giant. Can’t wait to try it!

I also thought that you can use only 1 coupon on BOGO deal at Safeway. Did they change their coupon policy again?

Poor Charlene, so scrutinized. I think she just switched the coupon ordering, and used 2 coupons on the 4 cheese transaction, and 1 coupon on the 2 cheese transaction. 🙂

No, no typos this time. The policy is the same but this was a unique situation that is long and boring and I didn’t feel like typing out. I bought 4 packs of sliced cheese and the transaction went through fine, used (2) coupons total on 4 items and then the bagger noticed one of the packs was ripped. So I didn’t have the time to wait for them to get a fresh pack- we just voided the 2 packs of the transaction and then when I asked for my cheese coupon back the cashier said it was in his drawer and he couldn’t give it back so they just kept it off my bill.

OK, so just to clarify, you can use one coupon on the bogo but not a second coupon on the same bogo? Sorry I’m not scrutizing I just am trying to get this all straight! (I am new) I was under the impression you could not use ANY coupons on the BOGO’s so I haven’t been getting any Bogo’s at Safeway because I didn’t think it was such a good deal – but if you can at least use one coupon per bogo – that is a little better!

    Thanks!

Kim yes you can use one coupon. You just are not supposed to use (2) coupons. Normally on a BOGO sale you can use 2 coupons but Safeway is stingy.

So at the majority of stores a sample scenario would look like this:

Cheese $2.00- Buy One Get One Free
    Use (2) $1 coupons
    Final price: 2 for Free!

    At Safeway:

Cheese $2- Buy One Get One Free
    Use $1/1 coupon
    Final Price: $1

Lot’s of people ignore this policy because the register usually won’t beep and most stores don’t enforce the one coupon thing. It is in the policy though no coupons on free items so we should all respect the policy and just use one coupon 🙂 Since it is no coupons on free items that means one item is free on a BOGO- so only 1 coupon can be used.

I find it annoying because in a BOGO sale Safeway foots the bill for the free item. The manufacturer obviously foots the bill for coupons. So really it stinks but again I think we should just play by the rules and scenario B above is the one that we should all do.
