Rite Aid “Weekend Warrior” Promotion

This post may contain affiliate links, please see my disclosure policy.

Rite Aid has an unadvertised deal running right now- that seems to be shaping up to be a great deal.

There is a “Weekend Warrior” promotion in the May 15th sales circular for $10 +Up when you spend $25 on Motrin, Aleve, Excedrin, Precise or BenGay.

While this is not advertised until 5/15- it appears this promotion is actually running in stores from 4/24-6/25.   I believe there is a limit of 2 +Up Rewards.

So there are a few ways to go about this but remember if you have 10% off or 20% off with Wellness card, you need to account for the $25 AFTER your Wellness discount is applied.

These are the items included in the sale:

Thermacare patches – 2-3 ct
Motrin PM 20 Ct
Aleve 80 ct
Aleve pm40 ct
Advil 80-100 ct (the 100 ct might not be tracking properly)
Excederin 24 CT
Precise patch
Precise cream
Ben Gay 2 oz
Ben Gay patch 4 oz

So here are a few ideas for you.  Remember to adjust the prices accordingly if you have the Wellness card discount.

{THIS WEEK:}

Thermacare patches are $6.99 and there is a $4 +Up when you buy 2 (limit 4)
Use $3/1 printable coupon
Final Price: $1.99 each

Now if you have access to more than one computer you can try this:

Buy 4 Thermacare at $6.99= $27.96
Use (4) Thermacare $3 off coupons= $15.96
Get (2) $4 +Up Rewards
and Get $10 +Up for spending $25
Final Price: $2 moneymaker

If you don’t have that many computers, it is still a nice deal like this:

Buy 4 Thermacare at $6.99= $27.96
Use (2) $3/1 coupons
and Use $3/2 Select Advil or ThermaCare Items, exp. 5-31-11 (RP 03/27/11)
Get (2) $4 +Up Rewards
and Get $10 +Up on $25 purchase
Final Price: $.96 total for all 4

Another idea:

Buy 2 Thermacare at $6.99
Buy 2 Tylenol Precise $7.99
Use (2) $3/1 Thermacare coupons
and use (2) $5/1 Precise coupons
Final price: $13.96 and get back $10 +Up for spending $25 and $4 +Up for Thermacare (so Free!)

*One note on the Thermacare coupons- I was only able to print one coupon.  I believe this is because I printed one previously.  Some people have found $2 peelies on the boxes of Thermacare.  So there is a chance you will get lucky in store and find great coupons!

If you have any trouble with that Thermacare you can try this:

{WEEK OF MAY 8:}

Buy 5 Precise at $5.00 each
Use (5) $5/1 coupons (either the printables or use the $5 coupons scheduled to be in the 5/8 paper)
Pay: Nothing but tax and get a $10 +Up back!

You can use the $3/15 coupons from your receipts to get a better deal. I’d love to hear what ideas you came up with for this promotion!

oooh wow thanks! I’ve been looking for this because I bought the aleve and saw that it was tracking on my receipt!

  2. Shira says

    04/26/2011 at 1:25 PM

also, since it’s tracking you can separate your transactions if your rite aid only let’s you use 4 “like” coupons in the same transaction, with the thermacare for example.

I might be missing something… I can’t figure out the moneymaker math. 6 Thermacare at $6.99 is $41.94 not $27.96, Obviously I must be missing something!

I was going to do the 2nd deal idea… 6 thermacare at $6.99, use (2) $3/1 coupons and use (2) $3/2 RP coupons but my total comes out to $29.94 and receiving $22 +Up rewards. Therefore not a MM?

  4. Shira says

    04/26/2011 at 1:35 PM

ok, wait, disregard the above comment. Cicular says limit 4 per household. So we can’t buy 6. And I’m doing the math and not sure I’m following. Isn’t $6.99 * 6 = $41.94 not $27.96? What am I missing?

    04/26/2011 at 1:39 PM

Now check it- I think I fixed the problem. Whoever made that mess to begin with is getting fired today.

  6. Shira says

    04/26/2011 at 1:47 PM

    Tara – do you think it will work with 4 thermacare’s? That’s $27.96 – $12 (4 – $3/1 coupons) = $15.96, Get $8 +up and $10 +up for the weekend warrior? So $2.04 MM? I might try it this afternoon if they aren’t sold out.

    04/26/2011 at 1:58 PM

i went and did the therma care and it worked like a charm! Thank you!

  8. Shira says

    04/26/2011 at 2:05 PM

haha! yes it’s fixed. no firing, we all do math wrong sometimes and you are a posting queen today! so many good promo’s, so thanks!

  9. Charlene says

    04/26/2011 at 2:21 PM

Meg- what was your transaction exactly? I just haven’t been to RA myself so I want to be sure it is all correct now.

  10. Shira says

    04/26/2011 at 2:25 PM

Meg, did you get the $4+ups and the $10+ups too? I just called the RA 800 # and they said that only the $10+up would print not the $4+up.

  11. Charlene says

    04/26/2011 at 2:36 PM

Shira- I did a bunch of research and it does seem to be working for a lot of people. I believe the only issue was people that didn’t account for the Wellness discount and also a few mentioned the 100ct Advil.

  12. Virginia says

    04/26/2011 at 3:18 PM

I need Aleve, does anyone know what the price is? Also, I logged into my wellness+ account and I had a $2 off any Aleve… it says limit one per customer, has anyone tried using multiples?

  13. Meg says

    04/26/2011 at 3:24 PM

I bought 6 therma care ($5.99 each after my 20% discount). I used 5 $3 off each thermacare plus 1 $2 off thermacare. I also used a $3 off $15 survey coupon. I had alot of previous ups to use ($14.88 total). out of pocket it came to $3.04. i got back 1 $10 up reward and 3 $4 up rewards!!!

  14. Meg says

    04/26/2011 at 3:27 PM

also…the limit four does not mean u can only buy 4 thermacare…it means you can get up to 4 $4 ups back.

  15. Charlene says

    04/26/2011 at 3:30 PM

Aleve might be better next week. There is a $2 coupon coming in the paper and a $2 in ad coupon for 100-200 ct.

  16. Shira says

    04/26/2011 at 4:37 PM

ok, just to clarify the 800# told me wrong. I got both the $4+up and the $10+up. Going back again tonight for more. I only bought 2. They were $7.49 each. My WW was already at $10.99 from some Aleve this weekend. I got 2 thermacare’s and 2 veets ($6.29 each) and used the following:
    2 – $3/1 thermacare
    2- $3/1 in ad veet
    2- $2/1 veet printable
$2/10 VV beauty bonus when you buy $10 of veet and other products
Total after coupons was $6.56 (would have been $1.56 but I left my $5 +up at home- dang!)
    Got = $10+up, $4+up and 2 – $1+up’s for the veets.

  17. Shira says

    04/26/2011 at 4:38 PM

oh and a $3/15 survey, forgot to include that one.

  18. Charlene says

    04/26/2011 at 4:44 PM

I know this is going to sound ignorant, but how do I know if I get the 10% or 20% discount? I’ve signed up for soooo much stuff in the last two weeks that I don’t know what I have and haven’t done anymore. (new to couponing).

Thank you for all your wonderful help!

  19. Charlene says

    04/26/2011 at 6:03 PM

Is you name Charlene or are you talking to me? I am seeing a lot of Charlenes lately! Anyhoo- once you spend a certain amount you get a blanket 10% or 20% off so you likely don’t have it yet. It is for the RA die hards not the casual shopper 🙂

  20. Charlene says

    04/26/2011 at 6:04 PM

See Shira- I am telling you that the coupon community knows 10x more than these customer service people 🙂 They should call and ask us bloggers what they need to stock up on- 😛

  21. Amy says

    04/26/2011 at 7:46 PM

I also was only able to print one $3 ThermaCare coupon, and I haven’t printed one before. So I guess the site is just set up that way.

  22. Shira says

    04/26/2011 at 8:06 PM

Charlene you rock and do seriously know the RA ins and outs. Meg thx for clearing up stuff too. I was so annoyed because the checker told me to come back for post coupon on the $5 +ups that I forgot at home and I got there and they can’t do that. Grrr. I drug the kids to the store at 7:30 at night for nothing. At least I got to tell him he was wrong. I’ll try again tomorrow.

  23. Shira says

    04/26/2011 at 8:08 PM

PS. There are 104 items on the WW promo. Wish we could get a list.

  24. mary says

    04/26/2011 at 8:26 PM

i was able to print two thermacare today, but i had to sign up again. You can’t push the back button, but it worked signing up with the same info. Weird. I hope this helps.

  25. Charlene says

    04/26/2011 at 10:01 PM

Thank you Charlene for your help….and yes, my name is Charlene too. I don’t bump into too many of us…lol.

To receive the Up rewards, does it go off of your total purchase after you use coupons or prior to ringing up coupons? It sounds like its before, but I am just not sure! Thanks so much!!

  27. Charlene says

    04/27/2011 at 11:49 PM

    Pre coupon totals.

  28. Brian Smith says

Is this weekend warrior / thermacare reward just one time only?
I did 2 thermercare , two precise last week and i got back 14 RR

However i went last night and purchased 4 thermarcare, but got 0 RR

    Am i mising something?

    thanks

  29. Charlene says

    05/04/2011 at 10:21 AM

Brian- how much did you spend on the Thermacare? It should be a limit of 2 but this was not advertised so it could be a limit of 1. If you spent the correct amount what does the bottom of your receipt say?

  30. Brian Smith says

    05/04/2011 at 10:40 AM

    health benefit total $27.96

    total coupon savings $20
    paid $7.96

  31. Brian Smith says

    05/04/2011 at 10:43 AM

warning: as of 5/01 weekend warrior totals have stopped appearing at the end of receipts and the deal does not appear to be working!

This was posted on the I heart riteaid blog

  32. Charlene says

    05/04/2011 at 10:44 AM

Ok well just return the items you purchased. Lucky that you got the deal once since it was not advertised.

  33. Shira says

    05/04/2011 at 1:57 PM

@Brian – I was under the impression it was a limit of 1 but I’m not totally sure. The totals did disappear from the bottom of my receipt too but today’s shop showed it again. I haven’t bought anything yet to add to it again because I don’t know what of the 104 items they are…..wish there was a list out there somewhere. You can call the 800# and they will tell you what’s on the list.

Yep definitely back on the bottom of my receipt! yippie!

i printed for therma care coupons and took them to the store. I did the transaction as follows 4 @ 6.99 = rounded to 28.0 used 1 $3 of $15 from survey then 4 $3 off coupons and 1 $1 for Ad perk and a $2 up reward and i paid $9 and some change out of pocket i got nothing back on my receipt except the survey info for next time. I didn’t get the $4 up or the $10 up. is there a reason do you have to do this transaction only on the weekend or should i call customer service

  35. Charlene says

    05/05/2011 at 1:50 PM

Cheryl, you have to shop the week of the promotions- you have 7 days total to shop. This was posted on April 26th- that would have been the sales ad running April 24-30. So as I said in the post, the $4 +Up for Thermacare was available the week I posted- which would have been last week. So that for sure you would not have received this week.

  36. Lindsey says

    05/09/2011 at 9:01 PM

I tried to do the Tylenol Precise deal this week, but the WW +up didn’t print. Is not working right now or can I ask RA to honor the +up?

  37. Charlene says

    05/09/2011 at 9:25 PM

Lindsey- it is an unadvertised deal. That means you roll the dice. Unless Rite Aid has something in the store that specifically states you will get the +Up, then you simply got the products free. You can call Rite Aid customer service and ask but most likely they will not honor the extra +Up.
