This week Ancestry.com is offering free access to Civil War era records. You can search for family history information from hundreds of Civil War documents.
I think this is pretty cool and as some of you guys know I am a tiny obsessed with the tv show, Who Do You Think You Are? I bought a membership to Ancestry.com and I have been working on a family history project as a Father’s Day gift. (Don’t tell anyone- it is a surprise.)
You can check out the Civil War records for free through April 14th and maybe uncover something cool about your family. They also offer a free 14 day trial to check out the service. You can cancel for no charge if you don’t like it or you can select from the different payment options to keep the service.
(Thanks Frugal Coupon Living!)

I’m a HUGE genealogy nerd. Been doing research since grad school. I have found that the LDS Church has an awesome site….familysearch.org It’s FREEEEEEE! Best of luck….I was able to visit my ancestor’s homestead in Ireland last year – they were alive in the 1500s. Very moving.
