I am new to staples, can you use rewards “money” to buy the things with the rebate and get cash back?

Does anyone know if the “limit 2 rebates” means per item or of all the items offering rebates? In the description under each item, it says limit 2 rebates. Just curious~

Thanks for this! I just got my Staples rewards so now I definitely have to head over there.

Can you use a staples reward to buy more rewards?

Amy the limit is 2 items each for a total of 16 items.

I think some of the free after rebate items are only good until Wednesday- check your ad so you don’t miss it!

Staples rewards are not issued immediately but are emailed to you after about a month. It is good as cash to use at Staples, just like drugstore rewards. The Staples rebates come in the form of a check that can go back into your bank account.

I don’t know if I’m missing something, but I am still unsure of what the answer to my question above was.

I got $10 of rewards from staples for turning in ink cartridges. Can I use that “money” to buy the things with the rebates? Because I would then be getting rebate checks (which equal cash in my understanding) for things I didn’t actually spend any cash on.

This would be awesome if that is in fact true. Turning ink cartridges into cash AND getting office supplies for free sounds awesome!

Liz, you can use your $10 to buy items that generate a rebate. Your $10 is just like store credit at Staples. I have $5 in ink cartridge rewards and was planning on going to Staples tonight or tomorrow. I did this last summer when I was stocking up on school supplies for my kids. Have fun shopping!

I don’t think you can “roll” staples rewards. If you use the $10 rewards to buy a $10 item that would get a $10 rebate, it is not possible. Sure the Hammermill is $1 in the end after the $4.99 rebate, but is it really? To me it looks like staples reward is a buy one get one deal. I’m still trying to figure out staples.

Hmm… The way the math looks to me is like this:

Buy 1 ream of paper at $5.99+ tax
    Submit rebate for $4.99
Get rebate check in the mail and take it to your bank to cash
    Final Price: $1

So I guess the way I look at it is yes it is really $1.

I don’t know why you need to roll rewards. Which one is a reward this week? I thought they were all rebate checks this week.

@autum – you can definitely roll Staples Rewards. I just did that a few weeks ago when they also had free after rebate deals. So, what happened is: the rewards I earned from my Jan purchases totaled around $23+. I used it all to purchase office supplies that were free after rebate. I am getting back around the same amount in rebates (that I will deposit in the bank) plus I’m still getting rewards on the virtually free 2 reams of paper I got.

You can NOT use rewards to get back rewards. But you can pay with rewards to get rebates. Staples Easy Rebates don’t care how you pay for the item in order to qualify for the rebate.

But Rewards, like from the ink program will not turn into more rewards if you use them to purchase something that will generate a reward. Like Charlene said, this week is all rebates so there is no need to worry about getting more rewards. You can use your rewards to purchase these items and you will be able to get the rebates.

I wonder if you could use the $10 off coupon through recyclebank.com to use with the rebate offers? It seems to me you could get to $50 pretty quickly, especially with some of the $1 and $2 deals.

Any thoughts on if this could work?
