I did this deal yesterday and was under the impression that $4 came off instantly when you buy 4. It didn’t so I had to head to Customer Service and they gave me the $4. No catalina printed either. Just a heads up…
Like Kerri said, the $4 did not come off instantly, but they refunded my $4 at customer service without any problems. I did this deal yesterday.
No it isn’t an instant $4? Can you tell me where I said that because I am confused? I posted it is a catalina. You should get a $4 catalina coupon back.
I did this yesterday as well and the manager told me it is all crescent rolls that are not included so I just got my money back.
It wasn’t anything you said. When I saw the sign yesterday I thought that “buy 4, save $4 (instantly with your card)” meant that $4 would come off automatically. I didn’t realize it was a catalina. But a catalina didn’t print for me either so I’m glad I went to customer service and they didn’t have a problem giving me the $4.
I tried this today and didn’t get my $4 back instantly or as a catalina–which is supposed to be so I can call customer service and request? I tried requesting at my store customer service and they refused to honor the offer, even when I brought them the sign that stated “Get $4 back when you buy 4”. Another reason why I’ve had it with Safeway…how can you advertise something then NOT honor it?
i saw on a different blog that it was supposed to be an instant $4 but if its a catalina coupon then i will contact them because i didnt print the $4 either.
Stephanie I was thinking it was a catalina but it says “save $4 instantly” so maybe it is supposed to be an instant discount?
You know I think it is an instant discount. The picture has Crescents in it if you look next to the cookies so this should work.
I tried it too a couple of days ago and the $4 didn’t come off but I didn’t realize it until I got home. I was going to call customer service Monday.
I bought 4 cresents today at Genuardi’s and $4 didn’t come off. Got my $4 back from CS. $2 money maker for me cause my store doubles.
I tried to and it didn’t work for me either. I took it to custormer service and they told me all four item had to be regular price, no sale items. I just got a refund.
Yep. $4 did not come off for me either. Safeway has been a big hassle esp with the U save. Customer service knows me by now 🙁
I bought 4 crescent rolls yesterday at Safeway and the $4 came off instantly on my order. On my receipt it shows the price as $1 each for the rolls. I then used my 75 cent off coupons for each one, only paying 25 cents each! I had about given up on Safeway, but yesterday was a very successful trip for me. My total out of pocket was $33.91. I saved $140.01 and also received $10 in catalinas for my next purchase(Jello and CPK personal pizza).
Just double checked my receipt from Friday and the $4 came off instantly. I bought 8 crescent rolls and they rang up as $8. I also used 8 $.75 coupons.
For those of you that did receive the instant $4 off the 4 crescent rolls, do you mind sharing where you shop? My store will not honor the $4 instant savings, nor will the folks at Safeway’s 1 800 customer service number. They keep telling me that I saved $4 since I bought 4 and they were $2 with your Safeway card instead of the regular $2.99. Thanks in advance for your help!
Barbi…mine here in Lincoln (CA) told me the same thing. I ended up paying $5 after coupons for the rolls and I wouldn’t have bought them if they weren’t going to honor the extra $4. They said I had already saved $4.76, but that was because they were originally $3.19 and that difference was to get them 2/$4.

Sounds like your store and mine (Concord, CA) are on the same (bad) wavelength, mine were just priced a little lower. At this point, I don’t really care about the $4, it’s the principle that they will not honor what they advertise and are willing to lose a customer over it.
This deal worked perfectly in Colorado today. I got 4, 8oz crescent rolls. The $4 came off instantly. Yay!
The small crescent rolls won’t work, it has to be the 8oz size. It worked for me today. Receipt showed .01 for the coupon, but the rolls then appeared as $1 each instead of $2. Plus, in MD they double coupons, so this became a $0.50 money maker for me!
I have had similar problems on promotions in the past. What I do is ask CS to ring up just one item. In this case it will be $2 each–the ad price. The total for 4 items without the promotion is then $8. 4 items at $2 is $8. Now it is easier to say “So, If I buy 4 items I should save $4 more for a total cost of $4.”
