Reader Tereza let me know McCormick Grinders are on sale at Safeway for $2 through 5th. So I popped over tonight to double check and sure enough there were several flavors priced at $2.00.
If you use the $1/1 Select McCormick Products, exp. 4-24-11 (RP 03/13/11) coupon you pay just a buck.
There is a McCormick catalina that I think is running at Safeway starting the 18th:
Buy 2 Spice, Herb, Pepper, Extracts or Food Color and get $1.50 or Buy 3 and get $2.50.
So if you have enough coupons, try this:
Buy 3 McCormick Ginders at $2.00
Use (3) $1/1 coupons
Pay $3.00 and get a $2.50 cat back (so .16 each)
The catalina does not begin until the 18th so make sure you hold onto those coupons. I want to get a few for summer grilling season so I will for sure test this out once the catalina is working and I will keep you updated.
In the meantime, if anyone gets this as a catalina announcement at Safeway can you let me know?

I received a printout for a McCormick Catalina at Lucky Supermarket today. It lists McCormick Herbs, Spices, Black Pepper, Garlic & Onion, Extracts and Food Color. Between 3/18 and 4/10, buy 2 get $1.50, buy 3 or more get $2.50 off your next purchase.
Not sure if the specifics of this Catalina will be exactly the same as at Safeway.
I’m bummed that we didn’t receive the $1 McCormick coupon in the 3/13 San Jose Mercury News but supposedly there’s a printable version for 50c at redplum.com but I’ve yet to find it.

Sue,
I get the San Mateo Times, San Jose Mercury News (which I believe is the same as the Times) and also The SF Chronicle. The Chronicle is the only one that had the McCormick coupon. I wish they would all just have the same coupons! I’ve noticed that the Chroicle ALWAYS has a few more coupons than the other papers do for some strange reason.

The advertisement for this cat was sitting near the credit card machine when I was there the other night. I meant to take it with me, but I think I inadvertently threw it away…

I got the McCormick catalina announcement at Safeway. It’s the same as Sue C posted.

Hi Janell & Sue!
I too am very sad every time the San Jose Mercury News doesn’t have the coupons that are listed in the coupon previews. I buy these from the news stands so the SF Chronicle is a very expensive purchase at $3.00 per paper. Do you get them home delivered? I have found that the Santa Cruz Sentinel from the news stands doesn’t have coupons in it only the home delivered ones do.
I guess I need to start purchasing coupons from the coupon clipping services more often.

I found the Chronicle had more/better coupons pretty often, so I subscribe for Sundays only for $18/yr. I have two subscriptions, which have paid for themselves several times over.
Sarah says
That’s a good price! Thank you Adrienne H!
Janell says
Sarah,
I do get them delivered. Once in a while if there are really good coupons, I’ll go and buy one and the coupons have always been the same. I haven’t had the same luck with other papers though. It’s kinda hit or miss, very frustrating!

Hi Bay Area gals! I’m a little late to the ballgame here, but here goes…
I want to mention that I have given up on almost all of the Bay Area papers — except the Chronicle. On occassion when the preview says the coupons are limited, I compare the inserts in the SFC to the Merky News while in the store. If they are identical, I opt for the $1 paper, of course! Otherwise I stick with the $3 Chronicle. I thought about doing the clipping services, but schedule wise if I don’t get my shopping done by Sunday/Monday, it never happens, so I need my coupons early. That’s just my schedule though. If you can afford to wait for the clipping service to get it to you, go for it. In the meantime…
Here is one tip that helps me out with the cost of the Chronicle…I use my Walgreen’s RR/CVC ECV’s to purchase the papers – they are not excluded in the fine print. I’m going to spend the money anyway on them, so I try to maximize my purchases at Wags and CVS to get enough to go towards papers each week.
Anyway, the Chronicle pays for itself because the coupons are so much better 98% of the time than the other local papers.

Too many typos … sorry.
Meant to say in the second to last paragraph…
“Walgreen’s RR/cvS ecB’s…”
Thanks

My catalina did not print for the grinders. I’ll contact Catalina but $1 each isn’t too bad is it?
Charlene says
I don’t think it is a bad price at all. I probably wouldn’t buy more than 1 or 2 at that price whereas .16, I might get 4.

Bought 6, 3 on two separate orders and there was no catalina for it at all. Talked to the customer service and they said there never was a deal for it.
Jessica says
Mine didn’t print either. Is there anything I can do?
Charlene says
Jessica- you can just follow the instructions in the post. Either contact catalina and see or just return the items you purchased for a refund.
Debby says
I bought 3 grinders and no catalina either.
