Well Safeway announced on Facebook today that Friday and Saturday only, they are offering a $10 catalina coupon back on any $75 purchase.
There aren’t many details about this other than the quick post on Facebook.
The $75 is calculated BEFORE coupons but there are a few things that don’t count toward your $75 requirement:
13. References to a threshold purchase requirement will exclude purchases of: Beer, Wine, Spirits, Tobacco Products, Fuel, All Fluid Items in the Refrigerated Dairy Section (including Fluid Dairy and Dairy Substitutes), Prescription Items and Co-payments, Bus/Commuter Passes, Fishing/Hunting Licenses and Tags, Postage Stamps, Money Orders, Money Transfers, Ski Tickets, Amusement Park Tickets, Event Tickets, Lottery Tickets, Phone Cards, Gift Cards, and Gift Certificates; also excluded are: Bottle Deposits, Redemption Values, and Sales Taxes.
This should be at all the affiliate stores including Dominicks, Vons etc.. but it does say that Genuardi’s is excluded from the promotion!

I spent $75.28 and didn’t get one 🙁 Time to call Catalina I guess, I still have to call on the CPK and McCormick catalinas.

They said in the comments to call that if it didn’t print. Dang if all those didn’t print there has to be something wrong with the machines at your store.
Thanks! Yeah they said they were having problems with that at my store. One of the catalinas I used today didn’t have a barcode on it but they let me use it anyway.
I’m having a heck of a time finding $75 that I want this week! It would have been no problem over the last two weeks! I thought gift cards, but those are excluded. Then I thought diapers, but I’m getting better deals on Amazon. Very frustrating.
I agree Lori. I was trying to think how many free item coupons I have tucked away but there still isn’t anything I really want. I can only think of the Thermacare rebate right now. That is an option.
i would stock up on beer, since it’s on sale this week, but shoot you can’t get the catalina for beer 🙁
The amount is NOT before coupons. We only used a $5 off frozen foods and a $1 off produce. Our total came to 76.52 and it didn’t print. We removed the tax and it was 74.46. So we had them return the transaction and rerang it and added some candy bars and then the total was $77.xx and it printed. You actually have to spend $75 out of pocket for it to work.
They always seem to do these on my off pay day weeks. Darn! No money for groceries this week, so that’s a bummer!
Sarah, you can read the comments on the link provided in the post. The customer service person from Safeway did actually say herself that it was before coupons.
It was after coupons here too. I decided it wasn’t worth it considering this week’s ad wasn’t that great BUT having made the trip I made today I wish I would’ve thought about all of the 12pks of soda I’d be buying this week because I could’ve taken advantage of it here.
Oh well, the ad for next week that was in the mail today shows that they’ll have the $10 cat (on a $75 purchase) starting tomorrow and running through 4/5/11). Looks like 12pks of Coke will be Buy 2 get 2 free again so they’ll be the same price I paid today. Debating whether to make a stop there tomorrow and rebuy the Cokes and then return the ones I bought today.
Oh I think you should argue for your cat 🙁 If you spent $75 before coupons you deserve the cat and they even have it in writing on the Facebook page.
