Remember the new Walmart coupon policy that I mentioned a few weeks ago?
Well there was one clause on the policy that cause a little confusion- it said Walmart will accept:
Checkout coupons
(also called “Catalinas”) that are printed at our competitors’ registers, have “Manufacturer Coupon” with specific requirements printed on them, a valid remit address for the manufacturer, valid expiration date, and a scannable bar code.
So there was a little confusion over whether this meant Register Rewards from Walgreens or not. Personally, I have been through this exact thing with Safeway already and I did not feel they intended Register Rewards to be redeemed.
I was reading that to mean if you go to Walgreens and get a catalina coupon for a specific item-like .50 off Wonka Chocolate bars you can use it at Walmart not if you go to Walgreens and get a Register Reward for $1 off your next purchase.
Anyhow, Walmart has updated the policy and clarified this point:
They will accept:
Checkout coupons (“Catalinas”)
Printed at our competitors’ registers for dollar/cents off on a specific item
Must have “Manufacturer Coupon” with specific item requirements printed on them
Must have a valid remit address for the manufacturer
Must have a valid expiration date
Must have a scannable bar code
Are acceptable in black and white
May not be duplicated
and they WILL NOT accept:
Checkout coupons
Dollars/cents off the entire basket purchase
Percentage off the entire basket purchase
So I read this to mean that Walmart will no longer accept Register Rewards. I think it is certainly worth inquiring at your store because I have had readers that have used Register Rewards for ages at Walmart with no problem. In general though, I believe most stores will probably not allow them.
Bummer. I had big plans for next week!

I visited a Salem, Oregon, Walmart yesterday (March 18) and was unable to use a Safeway on-your-next-purchase-of-anything Catalina. The cashier was very nice about it, but explained it had to be dollars and/or cents off a specific item — just as you stated here.
Oh well; at least I found Cottonelle for the All You rebate!

I have been having a few problems with Wal-Mart now as well! They said according to the new policy, if the coupon wont scan, they are not allowed to manually type them in. Spoke to several managers, i produced the policy and so did they. They “interperet” the policy that if it doesnt scan, they wont take it! Waiting to hear from the District Manager about this now!

So I was just at my local Wal-Mart in Visalia, CA and was using printed coupons or rather trying to use printed coupons and the cashier and CSM wouldnt take them because I printed them in black and white. Whats up with that, I thought their policy said that they accepted black and white or color? I argued with them and stated that you could print in black and white so the CSM said well if it scans ill take it then put her hand over the barcode and scanned it with the hand held scanner well obviously it didnt scan since her hand was covering the bar code! UGH…im so irritated!

So today I went to walmart and was using printed coupons well was trying to but the cashier told me that i could only use one printed coupon type. example i had 4 printed coupons for Kotex and I had 4 kotexs but they would only let me use one they stated that they cant take more then one because the barcodes are the same and people have been using photo copies. even though my coupons scanned. i explained even on the coupons that come in the paper they all have the same barcodes but they would not take more then one! Iam PISSED I will calling the manager in the morning………………………. has anyone else had this problem?
