I’m very confused. I log in to Groupon every morning — this deal wasn’t there this am and when I log in, it STILL isn’t there! The only way I have access to this deal is through the link you provided, Charlene. Is this some kind of mirror site that’s trying to access my computer or credit card information? I’m just asking because I would think if it were legitimate, I would be able to access it from my account with Groupon, not just through your link. When I click on it, it pulls up the Groupon page associated with my city (Chicago) and shows 17 deals available today, but when I log in, it shows only 16 deals available in Chicago. What’s up?
Umm…. no Jennifer I am not posting scam sites that are trying to steal credit card information. Occasionally Groupon offers special deals and they pass along the links early to people in the press- including bloggers. I think it is a way to control the number of sales generated. Most likely the offer is available under another city or it will go live later today. You can just search under other cities from groupon.com to buy it or wait until this afternoon and see if it pops up somewhere.
You can also contact Groupon directly and ask them how to purchase it.
PS: I do actually research the things that I post and it is very, very rare that things I post turn out to be fraudulent. I usually skip any deal that seems off to me in any way.
I didn’t mean to offend you — sometimes things slip through the best filters and I try to be careful. I usually log in using my own account so that I can verify that an offer is legitimate before just randomly clicking on a link. The reason that it seemed strange is because it is showing up as a deal that’s available in MY city, but only when I use the link you provided. I’ve never seen that from Groupon before.
Again, I’m sorry to offend but I trust you enough to ask and I’d rather ask than find out later that it was something bad.
since we can only access through that link, does that mean we cannot go through ebates?
