I didn’t really have time this weekend to put together a menu plan and shopping list (ironically I was trying to get a new vlog together yesterday on menu planning and the day got away from me.)

But here are a few deals I managed to score.  I do have to run a quick errand tonight and will be stopping at Whole Foods and Walgreens.

{TARGET $8.34}

4 toothbrushes at $1.29- used (4) $1 coupons= .29 each
3 Finish Quantum at $2.50- used $2.50 in coupons each= FREE (this was last week.  If you did print these coupons the price this week is 2.69- or .19 each)
4 Wolfgang Organic Soups $1.99- Used $2 in coupons= Free
Target Cleaning Wipes $1.72- used $1 Target coupon= .72
3 Up and Up Infant Drops $2.14 each- used (3) $1/1 Target coupons= $1.14 each
Up and Up Ibuprofen .99- used $1/1 coupon
Crest Wisp 4pk $1.97- used .75/1 coupon and .50/1 Target coupon= $.72
Quaker Bars $2.25- used $1 coupon= $1.25
Pizza Crust Mix $1.07

See lots and lots of Target deals and coupon matchups here.

{SAFEWAY $17.89}

3 CPK Pizzas $6.50
2 Organic Snack Pack Apples $1.99 with in ad coupon- used $1/5 produce coupon
1 Blueberries $1.99
String Cheese $2.99
Challenge Butter $1.99- used $.55 coupon= $1.44
Whole Wheat Bread $1.99 with in ad coupon
Cookies .99- Free with Just 4 U coupon
Propel water $1- used catalina coupon for Free Propel from prior trip

And I have $3.75 in cats to use on a future trip!

See Safeway deals and coupon matchups here.

{CVS $2.00}

2 Kashi Cereal $3 each- used (2) $2/1 coupons
1 small travel size wipes .99- used $1 coupon from CVS scanner
Paid $2 and got a $2 ECB back!

See CVS deals for 2/27 here

Two Notes:

1. I have 4 computers in my house so I can print (2) coupons from each computer.  Sometimes new couponers think you can photocopy coupons- and that is absolutely not what I did on my Target trip.

2. I swear to you I am really at the end of my rope with Safeway.  I was overcharged by $3 again today and so I listed what I should have paid not what I paid.  I will go back and deal with it later but I wanted to mention it seems about 8 of 10 trips I am overcharged these days so please pay careful attention to your receipts when you shop!

    I am pretty close to being over Safeway too. Their Just 4 U program is so dysfunctional and yes, they are constantly overcharging. I am going to test their March frozen food deals once or twice and if I have any problems, I’m throwing in the towel with them.

    I did great at CVS today, now that I’ve learned to pay in two transactions: EB transactions first, then sale items, which I pay for with the earned EBs. Although they would not let me use both the BOGO and the $3 off coupon for the Oral B Toothbrushes, the cashier deducted the original price of $7.29 for the free one instead of the $6 sale price, so with EBs, I made $1.29 from the deal!

    Safeway can get frustrating and it is so important to check your recepits–however, they have always been very nice when I went back to get things corrected….and they do have awesome deals sometimes!

    I went to CVS tonight and, among other things, purchased the Oral B toothbrush and Crest toothpaste. I had the $3 coupon for the toothbrush and $1 coupon for Crest. I wasn’t paying attention as she rung me up, but as I was leaving I realized she rung up 2 toothbrushes but no Crest. But the crazy thing is that it still took the Crest coupon. How is that possible?!?! I hadn’t purchased any other oral care items.

    Agree with you all regarding Safeway very frustrating ,so many times their own coupons scan as one cent instead of 0.99 cents,it’s up the cashier to adjust it.Sometimes you don’t notice until you go home and do the math like Charlene mentioned.

    Safeway…ugh. We were out of frozen veggies so I used my $5 off $15 coupon for that. I bought $16 worth and the $5 did not come off. First the cashier looked through my other coupons to see if I had used coupons on the frozen veggies – not like that should make a difference, but anyways I hadn’t. Then she directed me to customer service where the lady used a calculator to verify my $16, which I had… I did get my $5 but the point is that it’s time consuming, frustrating and embarrassing.

    I only shop Safeway when I have time to go to Customer Service and I can shop without my kiddos. I’d say my average is about 9/10 times. I wish I was exaggerating. I used to go at least once a week, now it’s more like once a month…if that. Too bad! They used to be my favorite.

    Also I wanted to mention the blueberries should be 1.50-I bought 2 packages the other day for a total of $3.

    Bree- I looked at them today. The 6oz was $1.50 but the one twice the size was $1.99. I stood there deciding for awhile 🙂

    Ahh-how annoying-I didn’t see those when I was there-I will have to look again next time I go! That’s a way better deal!

    I am with all of you with the whole SAFEWAY issues.
    EVERY single time I go in there, I have been overcharged. Once, I was overcharged $15 for cake mix! The worst part is, there was a line FOUR DEEP for a refund on the same item.
    Maybe if we all let them know how frustrating it is, but how much we love their deals, they will fix the problems. If not, back to BelAir. They are friendly, helpful and give out free balloons to the kiddos!

    Well, tonight was fun. I went to Safeway to get the CPK deal, and was accused of fraud. The manager told me that they would not accept the two $1.25 coupons, because they were the exact same thing. In his words “these are copies”. I was so embarrased and by that time I had a huge line behind me. I pointed to the different numbers on the top of the coupon, and he finally said “oh they put so many numbers on these things”. He told the cashier it was fine and he puffed away. I’m done with that store! If Safeway has a smokin’ deal, I will try a different one.

    Geez how embarrassing. You should call to report the store to Safeway corporate. I always try to be firm and unemotional and polite. That nonsense does not sit well with me and once that happened to me at safeway too. Let me tell you I had a hard time keeping my cool because my girls were with me. To be accused of wrongdoing is horrible but in front of your children is even worse.

    02/28/2011 at 12:17 AM

    I agree! This is the second time it’s happened at that store. The first time my husband was with me, and I just about died! I will call corporate, thanks!

    I can understand everyone’s frustration, I think it must just vary by store. For me, I have only had some minor problems with the J4U program, maybe once or twice, and they are always resolved in my favor at customer service. I have to say that I shop at the same Safeway and same Rite Aid every single week. This is a somewhat small town and I know the cashiers pretty well. There’s only 1 that is a pain, but other than that the cashiers recognize me and know me as an honest person (I know you all are honest too, it’s just that a cashier that hasn’t dealt with you numerous times doesn’t know) and they will usually put all my coupons through with no issues. Even the skeptical cashiers at first have come around and give me no nonsense. CS is always friendly and helpful when there is an issue. BUT, when I go to other stores or locations for whatever reason, I almost always have issues, get attitude, etc. My advice, and I know it’s been said, is to find a store and location that you are loyal to, find your favorite cashiers, and always always be friendly and kind at that location and you will avoid most problems.

    What section do you find the dipper cookies in? I spent way too long looking yesterday and still couldn’t find them. TIA

    Nicole they were in baskets in the bakery department.

    Thank you Charlene!! I need to go back and get the apples too.

    I am going back for more too. They are way overpriced but I don’t care. An easy snack and I am reaching for those rather than crackers and cookies so totally worth every penny IMO!

    Charlene, we have multiple computers as well, but I can only print 2 coupons b/c all the computers have the same IP address (assigned by the router or modem?) How do you bypass that? Thanks!
