Safeway Update: Better Than Free Old El Paso

I posted this earlier today but it is actually much better than I thought.

Here is the deal- a catalina is supposed to be running at Safeway stores.  You will want to look for the promotional tags pictured above just to be certain, but here is the cat:

Buy 3 Old El Paso items and get a $1 cat
Or Buy 5 Old El Paso items and get a $3 cat

They have Taco Shells priced at .99 or Refried Beans at $1.25.

Here are some coupons you can use:

$.50/1 from 1/30 SS
$.50/1 printable coupon (this will print in Spanish)
or $.60/2 printable coupon

So here is a deal idea:

Buy 5 packages of shells at $.99
Use (5) $.50/1 coupons
Pay $2.45 and get a $3 cat back!

If your store doubles coupons even better!

UPDATE:  This appears to be a regional catalina!  I do not know what cities it is working in and would suggest looking for the signs as pictured above in your store.  Personally I think this is a great deal without the cat but beware it is not printing for everyone!

(Thanks Laura and Saving with Shellie!)

Have you had any trouble using the spanish only coupons?

No Kelly- I forget which ones I used last time but I used them recently. I think if you had- well I don’t know how to be polite- but maybe not a very savvy cashier it could be a problem. So pick wisely 🙂 If you look at the Old El Paso coupon in SS it is in Spanish so I think I might get riled if it was refused. It seems discriminatory to me. It isn’t a Spanish coupon to be redeemed in Mexico after all 😉

I think it was the Xtra (?) detergent at one of the drugstores a week or so ago. We had no problem using them.

Momto3- did you look for the signs in your store? Did they have them posted?

Hi! I can’t seem to find the coupon once I log in???

I sent my husband before he left for work. He said he didn’t see any signs for the Catalina, and he did buy the “super stuffers” shells, but they were still 99 cents each. So I will have to go back today and figure it out. We did use the Horizon 1.00 off coupons on the individual Horizon organic milks for lunches-they are 10/$10 so those came out free.

Ok well let me know. Sometimes catalinas can be regional so that might be the case. I’d probably still buy them at $.49 but maybe not 5 boxes 🙂

You can also email your receipt info to coupon at catalinamarketing dot com and they can look into it for you. I am wondering if this is regional or if there was a problem with the machine at your store.

I bought the shells shown in the pic and no catalina. I live in the SF Bay Area. Still a good price with the coupons. I received other catalina coupons, so the machine was fine.

Worked here in CO, bought 5 boxes of shells for 99 cents each used 5 $0.50/1 coupons. Coupons doubled so got shells for free and also got $3.00 catalina OYNO. Thank you for posting this deal.

FYI, in NorCal (Santa Cruz) the catalina did not print on 3 taco shells. There was a peelie on one a 12 pack of shells for Buy 2 OEP products, get a free OEP seasoning (of course they don’t sell OEP seasonings at my store :P).

Sheila – I bought 5 packages today and no CAT. But, like Charlene, I still think it was a great deal. I also got the peelies off all of my boxes, and I stood there forEVER trying to find OEP seasoning, before I finally just gave up. Guess they don’t sell it at my store either 🙂

there is a gift card deal going thru 2/15/11

buy at $50.00 non safeway g.c. & a mixed bouquet of flowers and get a $10 cat back for next purchase

Cat did not print when i bought a bouquet for $6.99. I think you need to buy the $9.99 or higher bouqets. There is an $8.00 off Just for U Q so if you buy a $9.99 bouquet (download the $8.00 off bouquet Q from safeway.com) and the $50 g.c. (i got target) you will get a $10 cat.

I tried this twice. first time didn’t work and second time did so make sure you get the $9.99 bouquet.

Catherine it didn’t work for me either! I tried a $6.99 and my Safeway book coupon was decline plus the stupid cat didn’t print 😛 I have a $3 coupon? You got an $8 coupon in Just 4 U? Wow.

with the $6.99 the Cat did not print. I went to Customer Srvc. and they gave me a $10 Safeway gift card in lieu of the CAT.

When I did it the second time, I got the $9.99 bouquet. I had loaded coupons on safeway.com last night. The e coupon was $8.00 off a bouquet. The Cat did print with the $9.99 bouquet and the E coupon for $8 came off so the receipt said $1.99 bouquet.

so the flowers were $1.99 and i got a $50.00 Target gc and then the $10 cat printed (I was a USCAN) when it did work.
