Rite Aid Trip $2.35

I wasn’t going to go to Rite Aid today but Adriana and I are making Valentine’s Day cookies for the Grandparents.  I am not usually a fan of pouch mixes but this was such a good deal I couldn’t resist.

I did two transactions:

T1:

Betty Crocker Cake Mix $2
Betty Crocker Frosting $2
2 Betty Crocker Cookie Pouches $2 each
Children’s Chestal $6.29 (this is more expensive in CA this week)
Total $14.29
Used $1/2 ad perk coupon for Betty Crocker
Use $1 off any item ad perk coupon
Used (2) $.40/1 Betty Crocker Cookie pouches coupon
Used $1 Chestal coupon

I used $10 in +Up and paid .49 + .49 for tax so a total of .97

Then I got back $4 in +Up for buying the Betty Crocker, I got an additional $4 in +Up for the bonus food reward and I can submit for a $4.00 rebate for the Chestal. So I spent $10.97 total in +Up and cash and got back $12. in rebates and +Up.

The next transaction was so I could roll the +Up and I bought one Revitalens at $4.99.

I paid $4 in +Up and .99 + .41 tax in cash. I will get a $4.99 rebate back.

So considering I spent about 20 seconds planning my trip this was not bad at all.   My store won’t adjust a +Up down in value so does anyone have a tip for an inexpensive filler item?  I try to avoid candy.

I like to use cheap chapsticks and lip balms as fillers.

Rite Aid Brand chapstick is 50¢ and right next to the checkstand. There are probably better items but I can always use chapstick!

They usually have charitable donatables in the front (sometimes with a strip of coupons), I’ll get those from time to time – my son also really likes to fill out his name on them so sometimes use that as incentive to behave in the store.

If you make a photo print. There is also a photo you can print to update a pic in your office or send to a grandparent or aunt.

Get to know your travel section- I saw a toothbrush AND small toothpaste set for only $.99. LOVE those deals! Shower caps, all kinds of small items for around $1.

The manager of the Rite Aid I go to suggested single cherry cordials they keep at the register for fillers.

I have had that problem lots and usually end up with whatever candy that there is a video value for like this week was Dentyne. I did my whole transaction and I paid $1.12 but $0.79 was tax. I am not sure how it does but one transaction always seems to work out better because I am minimum $1-$2 per transaction. It makes it hard but I want to go back tomorrow and get some more cookies. The lady in front of me got the sugar cookies which is what I wanted so I got the choc chip but I think that they are such a money maker that I can’t pass it up!! I am going to spend some time looking for filler but I don’t have luck at any stores finding anything under $0.50 to make it worthwhile. That would be an interesting post for each drug store :)

always check out the clearance section (in the back at my store). my store has started adding $1 section, so i check it sometimes. school supplies are low cost filler items. travel size items. 1 yogurt cup. 1 can soup, 1 can fruit. 1 pair mittens on clearance (they are low priced at my store now. if you don’t want to use them, save to donate in the fall or holiday season) i think it would be worth your while to walk every aisle and make a list of any potential filler items.

I haven’t looked at RA yet, but I have found cheap pencils at Walgreens.
