All sorts of fun things in the mailbox today! I got 3 magazines- some are free and some are just a few cents per issue. I am mostly excited about Parenting the Early Years because it has a $10 off any baby item at Amazon coupon! So practically free baby wipes are in my future!
I got the free coupon for Coffeemate creamer, the free package of Rogers Coffee, and 3 free Atkins bars (you can’t see the grabby little fingers that already laid claim to those), and our order from Disney Store arrived! We got 2 pairs of sunglasses and 2 pairs of flip flops for $16 and shipping was free!
Now the girls are very busy channeling Elton John into the house with their new shades.
Oh and our Papa Murphy’s gift card arrived as well– guess what my husband picked up for lunch today? $5 to feed all 4 of us plus leftovers was a great deal!

Oh this is Nigella who was Farhana last time and made the same remark. So first, shall I call you Farhana or Nigella? And second, let me ask why you are so angry about this? Because I have 3 magazines and my kids wear shoes? I am lost.
Ok…not to start anything on here, but I want to say to Charlene…you are doing a great job and I LOVE seeing all these great deals. I’m not sure why that other poster is so angry about your free items and filling a landfill? Why is she even on here-I would take her off your list to be able to post anything…no need for that negativity and it doesn’t even make sense anyway. Has she ever heard of “RECYCLING” which I’m sure you do when you are done with your magazines. Thank you for all you are doing and I, among so many others, LOVE seeing your posts, getting free stuff (to save $$) and that’s all thanks to you for finding these deals and posting. Makes me mad when I see someone like that being so negative. 🙁

Thanks Angel! I get so few negative comments on MFA I almost never blacklist people 😛 But I can see the ips so I can see in about 1 second when people use fake names and such. Yeah- our magazines we send to the senior center down the street or my girls’ school for projects.
It is kind of funny because I respect that people have strong beliefs about causes but I am the least wasteful person I know. I never request things I won’t use. I almost never request samples (except food) because to be honest I don’t like clutter and they wind up in the trash and I don’t buy travel products and such because it seems so wasteful with the packaging. So I feel like I do my best to be responsible and that is about all you can do 🙂
Don’t let one bad apples spoil the bunch. You are doing a great thing here! My library loves when we donate our magazines to them, then turn around and use them in the childrens programs and are able to sell the ones they don’t use. One of my favorite things to do with my girls are to cut out a group of like things (red things, things that start with A, etc) and glue them to a page. It keeps my little ones busy for at least an hour, lol. They get so excited about it too.

Please read about rainforest, how hundreds of thousands trees are being cut every year just becasue we can’t give up the necessities like the cheap subscription of 3 magazines! It’s good that you recycle but trees take a long time to grow and people are eveicted from their native land i.e rainforest just we are so greedy.
Please think, do we really NEED so much stuff, even if they are free? Visit a landfill, every “thing” counts.
Ok Nigella/Farhana, That is probably a reasonable concern but I only request magazines that I actually read. As I said above I do not like to waste things so if I won’t use it- I don’t buy it or request it. Just because it is free is not a motivation to me. Perhaps instead of leaving nasty comments each week you can just remind us all to try and do our part for the environment. I hardly think calling people greedy is appropriate. I know that I am not a greedy person so that is simply not a fair statement to make. My undergrad degree is actually in International Relations so believe it or not I do know a little bit about this. If a magazine is recycled it is not going into a landfill. I take them for others to read but I am sure most people put them in recycling bins when they are finished.
