Amazon: Free Unlimited Movies With Prime Membership

Amazon is offering something new today.  I have mentioned Prime membership- well it seems like daily.  Many of us have it for free with AmazonMom or you may have taken advantage of one of the free trials I have previously posted.

The regular service is $79/year and Prime offers many benefits like free 2 day shipping on any item Amazon sells (excludes 3rd party merchandise).  So if you find pens priced at $.89 from Amazon they will ship that to you completely free in 2 days.  If you need overnight service, they charge $3.99.

I absolutely love this service and the overnight shipping has come in handy for me several times.

If you purchase the paid membership to Amazon Prime for $79/year they are also throwing in free, unlimited, commercial free streaming of movies and tv shows.

You can watch the movies on your computer or if you have one of the other internet connected TVs, Blu Rays or set-up boxes.

I am thinking this is actually not a bad deal- especially if you are a movie lover or if you have ditched your cable services.

Now keep in mind, it doesn’t look like any and every movie is available with this service.  I checked out new releases and I didn’t see any of the hit movies that are out right now.

If you are interested you can check out more information on Amazon Prime here.

**If you are not familiar with AmazonMom you can read about that service.  There is a completely free trial of it available- no strings attached!

(NOTE:  Sorry if this was confusing to anyone.  The free trials will not count.  You need to pay the $79 listed above to get this offer.  If you don’t feel like paying you can get a free trial of the service by clicking the AmazonMom link above. You will NOT have access to this new service with the free trial but you can check the service out to see if you like it.)

My Mom Prime membership just ended–I tried to spend $25 and used the $10 off Q from the Parents magazine, but it was 25 AFTER Q’s–so I might just bite the bullet and get the prime membership. (Got waaay too used to that free shipping and not having to spend $25). I have the Chase Amazon Visa so you do get 3-4 points for every $1 spent on Amazon. I also see they give a year of free prime if you are a student–pretty cool.

I have to say that I am really annoyed that they left Amazon Moms out of the program for TV/movie streaming. I guess buying $25 worth of merchandise from Amazon is not the same as paying $79 a year? That just rubs me the wrong way. I’ve sent an email to Amazon telling them the same thing.

FYI — the free Amazon Student and Mom accounts won’t receive the streaming unless you upgrade your account to a paid membership.

    Love your blog! =]

I noticed that this month my prime membership was after coupons, previous months look like they were before coupons. Lucky for me I decided to stock up while I had two coupons to stack(20%).

I’m with you, I’m very used to the prime services, Christmas was so much fun and way under budget, thanks to Amazon and my free prime service!

So just to confirm, do those with an Amazon Mom trial get this new benefit too?

No Lenore. According to the terms of the promotion you need to purchase the $79 Prime. I added a link to the free trial if people don’t want to pay. Sorry if that was confusing.

My Amazon Mom trial just ended, and honestly I am going to miss it considerably. I am too cheap to pay $79….but I can tell you that I ordered a lot through Amazon when I had it. Now, my internet shopping will definitely be curbed (which is probably not entirely a bad thing).

Jen, mine ended too. I have no idea how I did it but I tried for the free offer and somehow it appeared in my account again. I think what I did was sign my husband up and we have the shared thing so you can share a membership with 4 people so I am thinking maybe that is what happened.

Thinking about spending $25 after any promotional q’s–just for an extra month, has me thinking that $79 for a YEAR isnt too bad. They also let you have 2 accounts under prime as long as its shipped to the same address. We have family in the same city–so if we could split it, it might not be so bad.

I just bought some dollhouse furniture for my daughter through Amazon and was thrilled to find out that it qualified me for an extra month of Amazon Mom! I didn’t realize that toys (maybe only certain ones) qualified. Sweet!

I’m torn on the paid Prime, too. My free Mom Prime from last year just ran out at the end of Jan, and I found myself on Jan 31 placing one last order for the free 2-day shipping – LOL! And yet, paying that $79/yr… well, it’s the same reason I won’t sign up for a high rewards cc that also has a $70 annual fee attached to it. On the other hand, this free streaming movie/tv thing might make a difference. So DH and I are going to sit down one night soon and look through all the free-with-Prime movie/tv offerings to see if we’d use it enough to justify the extra Prime charge. Right now, we use Hulu and it’s okay but the commercial interruptions are kind of annoying and the selection is already dwindling for what we really enjoy watching. Then again, we could also get a $60 Roku device and sign up with Netflix for $7.99/mo and get all their (much more up-to-date) movies and tv series streamed. I often start thinking about all this and end up not doing anything because I get a bit overwhelmed.
